  • Wonder who Stoke think they can get thats better than Rowett?

He's not won promotion from the Championship before but is there really anyone better available? - Jokanovic?

Has turned down an approach from Stoke...
  • Stoke have made an official approach for Nathan Jones according to Sky Sports News. Would be an interesting appointment
  • would be the end of luton's auto promotion hopes i would think as the manager seems to be the decent thing amongst the team, stoke sitting 14th in the league certainly a few wins and should be safe.

Maybe / Maybe not - Burton lost their Manager (Hasselbaink?) in the season they got promoted to the Championship yet they brought in Nigel Clough who finished the job for them - All about finidng the right replacement

Nigel Clough to Burton is similar to Martin Allen to Barnet - they're only ever on loan at other clubs and they'll be back there managing again soon enough.
  • Nathan Jones woukd be nuts to go to Stoke. Luton looking like they will be in the Championship next season anyway. But money talks.

Stoke are just eight points of the Play-Offs... Seems to be another year in the Championship where it feels as though no one actually wants to be promoted as no one is running away with it - So nothing to say he wont be a Premier League Manager next season
  • Jones appointed as Stoke City manager.

    Thanks Colin

Stoke have more chance of being in the Championship next season than Luton do.

In terms of what Stoke will pay him and how much they'll give him for transfers, Stoke are miles ahead of Luton so that will be the main attraction for him.

Stoke just spent almost 20m last week on Afobe and Woods, Luton have probably not spent 20m in total on transfers in their entire history.

Jones will surely have to think how much further he can take Luton with their current squad, budget and stadium.
Also he presumably may well get the pleasure of meeting bobmunro!

Rich and reliable owners, plus parachute payments. A great chance to nick a playoff spot and go up

He will indeed have that pleasure!

Think you have got a good un there @bobmunro

Had him as a guest at Bromley Addicks and met him a few other teams and was very impressed.

Committed, intelligent, thinks about the game and quite driven.

Will end up managing in Spain, I think, but if Stoke can give him time and stability, which before the last season and this they have to managers, he will do well.

I agree, a very astute appointment.

    He will be given time.
  • Despite being one of our promotion rivals, feel sorry for Luton fans losing such a talented manager.

Never posted a picture of this gentleman before but as he is favourite for the Luton job it would be rude not to!

He looks a bit familiar if I’m honest...

  • Never seen him before. Who is he?

    Chris Powell I think
  • Mick Harford appointed interim manager of Luton.
We are delighted to announce that Luton Town legend Mick Harford - and self-confessed Mackem - will lead the team into Saturday's huge Sky Bet League One clash at his boyhood club Sunderland as interim manager.

Our 59-year-old former player, coach and manager, who has fulfilled a vital job for the last three years in helping build the Hatters’ squad in his current role as chief recruitment officer, will prepare the players for the second v third game, with Steve Rutter continuing in his role as assistant-manager.

Mick, who masterminded one of the club’s finest moments in his previous role as manager when winning the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy at Wembley in 2009, will have the backing of 3,000 Hatters behind him for what is sure to be a proud moment as he takes the team he loves to his hometown club.

  • Johhnie Jackson second favourite to replace Nathan Jones at Luton.
  • Nah dont see Johnnie leaving us just yet
  • Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson seems to be the favourite, especially as he's a former player

I can't see them going for Jacko, who's very inexperienced and I doubt he'd want to go there at this stage of his career anyway

  • Aitor Karanka has asked to be released from his contract as the manager of Nottingham Forest Football Club.

The club have agreed to this request and the terms of departure have been agreed. Both parties wish each other every success for the future.

There will be no further comment from either party.

Simon Ireland will take charge of first-team affairs until a new manager is appointed.

How odd!!... think Nottingham Forest have kicked themselves in the balls by allowing that though as Colin Murray was saying on the Football League Show the other week how they were considering letting him go so wonder if he's taken it out of their hands

Have to go back to Billy Davies (2009 - 2011) to find the last Manager there that has lasted longer than a season

They've had sixteen Managers and Caretaker Managers since then
  • Another club that were back on the up after being in a bit of mess for a while under the previous owner.

Then their greek owner goes and appoints a director of football that he had with him at Olympiakos and within a month Karanka wants out. Can't be a coincidence.
  • Martin O'Neill is set to become Forest boss it seems...
