remember Wally trying to punch out Warnock's lights during a televised game a long time ago .. he accused Warnock of telling his players (can't recall which of his many clubs Warnock was at) to kick Wally's men, (he was the assistant at Reading I think at the time) .. as has been writ, Wally is an old time up 'n at em type, just what the Wombles need .. he's done well in the past as an assistant but seems to fall out with people on a regular basis .. we will seeclive said:AFC Wimbledon have confirmed Wally Downes as their new manager.
And the former Dons midfielder will have Glyn Hodges, who also played for the South London club, as his assistant boss.
First-team coach Simon Bassey, who had been in interim charge, continues as first-team coach but Steven Reid, who came in temporarily to boost their backroom team, has moved on.

Sure it's not his fault though.
No, that was Mike Walker, but I can’t recall the clubs.0 -

Interesting fact
Mike Walker played for Charlton0 -
His Wiki says two sackings.
Norwich and Everton.0 -
It says he quit NorwichValiantphil said:His Wiki says two sackings.
Norwich and Everton.
Walker quit Norwich in January 1994, following a long running feud with Chairman Robert Chase (mainly centring on Chase's habit of selling off the club's key players without consulting his manager first - for example Robert Fleck to Chelsea just after Walker's appointment), to become manager of Everton, with Everton having to pay substantial compensation to Norwich to secure his services.1 -
I don't understand the anti-allardyce movement. His appointment guarantees survival, then a mid-table finish the following season.
The guy is a results machine. Don't give me crap about boring football - nobody dislikes winning.2 -
Just in time for them to give us their usual beating.....Lincsaddick said:

Paul Clement sacked at Reading0

no real surprise .. Clement is another who talks the talk and has yet to even really stumble the walk .. all the promise supposed by the Chinese owners to make Reading a 'big club again' have not materialised ..shirty5 said:Paul Clement sacked at Reading
FROM WIKI .. Dai Yongge (Chinese: 戴永革; pinyin: Dài Yǒnggé; born 1968) is a Chinese businessman and investor. He is currently the Executive Chairman of Renhe Commercial Holdings Company Limited, a listed investment holding company who specialise in the operation of shopping centres transformed from air-raid shelters. They have centres in 30 cities across China, including Harbin, Guangzhou, Wuhan and Shenyang.[1]
I would hope that the air raid shelters are bigger than the Anderson shelter we had in our old backyard in Lewisham ((:>)0 -
Imagine the money to be made turning Anderson shelters into micro pubs or hipster coffee shops.1

Great idea .. IF you can still find a few intact ones ((:>)SomervilleAddick said:Imagine the money to be made turning Anderson shelters into micro pubs or hipster coffee shops.

One of those managers I’ve always rated highly but has continued to disappoint.shirty5 said:Paul Clement sacked at Reading
I personally think Reading will go down this season. Don’t think they have a lot about them.1 -
Agreed... thought he was harshly sacked @ Derby thoughSouthWest_Addicks said:

Huge Pedigree working at Madrid, Chelsea &Bayern with Ancelotti. I thought he was okay with Derby and Swansea. Thought the sacking were harsh, but cannot say he has excelled.ForeverAddickted said:

TBH, the last fifteen years have been quite good for Reading, two play off finals, two league titles and three years in the prem are good for a size of the club of Reading. I always have seen Reading as a bottom half championship team who should be flirting with relegation.
Hope we avoid them next season as I hate playing them home and away because they are a pointless club.1 -
Suspect Paul Clement is one of those who is just better suited to being an assistant manager.2

A lot of clubs seem to follow a similar pattern, success under a locally based businessman who spends a lot of money (in this case Madejski) but when he decides to step down and sell the club, things become a lot less stable.SouthWest_Addicks said:

The Championship is a financial nightmare really, massive losses as clubs pursue PL glory, until the owners run out of money and some new mugs come in!0 -
I do worry that bowyee
I'd like to play them next year. Very easy to get to and we should being a few. The 1-0 win there a few years back under Peters where Vetekole scored the winner was a hugely enjoyable away day.SouthWest_Addicks said:

There was a lot of positivity that day towards Peeters. Amazing to think that 2 months later he would be gone and we'd be humiliated 5-0 at Watfordalicwkd said:I do worry that bowyee

Paul Jewell appointed Director of Football at Swindon
There's a term we don't hear so often now as we did 10 years ago0 -

Bristol Rovers manager Darrell Clarke leaves by mutual consent.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/465511250 -
I have to say they looked awful against us and have not gotten any better. He did a cracking job there and I am sure will get a chance somewhere else.0
-
Feel sorry for Clarke... like Ardley he's been a victim of his own success there and was always eventually going to go as far as he could with them
Its certainly becoming harder to begrude any Manager from wanting to better themselves like Paul Hurst when he went to Ipswich because whatever happens any Manager is only X number of results from the sack2 -
Jose gone.
Caretaker til end of the season0 -
Said to my family prior to the game on Sunday that if they lose he’ll be gone before Christmas.stackitsteve said:Jose gone.
Caretaker til end of the season
Getting a caretaker in until the end of the season is brave and quite ridiculous in a way. They’re all to blame from the board down to the players. I don’t think you can solely point this on Mourinho.
They’re a shambles and completely written off their whole season now. Wouldn’t be surprised if they finished about 8th.0 -
Whilst nothing should surprise me in football this does.
Where now for Jose?
International manager, retirement/punditry or will another big club take him?0 -
Next PSG or Bayern Manager perhaps whenever they decide to replace their current choices - Be nice to see him back @ Portoiainment said:Whilst nothing should surprise me in football this does.
