  • Mansfield sack Graham Coughlan. An awful start to the season, so not a surprise really. Losing 4-2 at home to newly promoted Barrow was the final straw

absolutely no surprise .. he'd had a decent squad that was/is all over the place .. he didn't 'lose the dressing room', he never had it

At his first meeting with the squad he told them

    "Call me Ismael"

At least @MrOneLung got the reference

Can always rely on me Henry.
  • Probably obvious, but I don't get it.
    Sorry.

    Sorry.
I had to google it myself. Too cultural for this board, but then Henry has always been a bit of a (Moby) Dick!

  • Got to be one of the most famous opening lines in a book.
  • Tranmere sack Mike Jackson after just 3 months. Certainly a disappointing start for them in L2

Been difficult considering they've had COVID cases to deal with, e.g. that Salford game where their whole squad was pretty much out
  • Garry Monk will be next I reckon.

He'll be fine... The Oxford owner wont be bothered to schedule a meeting knowing how long it'll last, and that'll just be from asking if he wants a cup of tea or coffee

A manager that goes through phases of form, good and bad. They're going through a bad patch right now, but once they get their next win, expect them to go something silly like 8 unbeaten and winning 5 of them.

They've got a run of games soon where they play Doncaster, Pompey, Ipswich and Hull in the space of 3-4 weeks. If he's still in charge after that then he'll be ok as then they have a run of 8-9 games against bottom half sides through to the end of January so that should be when they go on a run.

as much as I’m not a fan of Robinson I think Oxford would be mad to get rid of him. Thought they played well against us and with better finishing would have won. Also his teams do intend to go through patches. Lose four on the spin then go on a run of winning five. They only need a couple of wins and they will be off and running. Will finish top ten.

Swindon's Richie Wellens looks set to take over at Salford

Yes he has played for them and it's nearer home, but it says something about their financial clout that he would drop down a division

Interesting that he missed the last game through 'a corona episode' and  Swindon won their first game after four losses on the spin. I wonder if there will be a job swap, Alexander taking over at Swindon ? .. the 'Scholes experiment' was very short lived

Scholes was down as a caretaker manager, so I don't think it was ever going to be permanent

True but longer term Salford is the better bet, and i'd say the vast majority of managers would choose them over Swindon. Strong chance they could swap divisions in May.

Manager Ryan Giggs will not be involved in Wales' three matches in November, with assistant Robert Page taking charge of the team.

The 46-year-old was arrested on suspicion of assaulting his girlfriend, several newspapers have reported.
