Understandably though, emotions will run high in the Checkatrade
To be fair it's what most parents say to there kids after 9am. And it was Lookman that he was shouting at.
  • Pearce is a real leader and great character for the squad. Slade had to fight hard to get him. Can't believe he is the sort to swear at a young kid.

Yeah dont think Pearce would have said something had there not been abuse towards the team from the kid, he doesnt seem that sort of person whilst Johnson is just a prick
Good point. You're right, it's OK to tell kids to fuck off. Mark Kinsella would approve.
Dont like getting abuse... Dont give it out in the first place

Its not like Pearce has responded in the same way that Roger Johnson did!!

In his post-match press conferences Slade does acknowledge our failings all over the pitch, yet after the Rochdale debacle when a journo queried the 4-5-1 formation, Slade was quick to correct him: "4-3-3". That's delusional.

We played two out-and-out strikers in Novak and Ajose last night, yet it took 79 minutes to muster a shot on target against a team from a lower division.

Even in the Welling pre-season friendly we could see that Novak doesn't have the speed or physique of a good striker. My mate described him as a "cart-horse" and predicted he'd be dropped from the first team within six weeks.

In his half-time report last night, Clem Snide said: "A shire-horse grazing the centre circle would be more effective than Crofts".

Change of use at The Valley - football ground converted to knacker's yard.

Re the screen shot you found and posted:
Do we know who 'Don the Owner' is who didn't play last night?
Far more seriously - is that a war grave being used as a pic? If not, and I am mistaken, I unreservedly apologise (I'm being serious here). However if it is, words fail me as to how inappropriate its use is in such a shallow context.

I make the mistake last night of betting against Charlton, but assuming that they might take a lead against Crawley before succumbing to ignominious defeat, optimistic fool that I am.
    They couldn't even manage that.
    Thanks lads.

People goading others to get reaction and then crying on social media about is pathetic and I'm not just talking Charlton specifically its more and more common in ours society as if it gives you some badge of honour

Reading on Twitter about verbals between players and fans again. Can anyone shed more light on it? Apparently Pearce and Rudd involved.

Supposedly a kid was shouting and spurring the team on , to which Pearce in the dug out responded "fuck off, isn't it past your bedtime"
Do you really think that's how it happened ?
Well if you know different then please do share it with us

If it's true, isn't that exactly how he responded?

Well no... Johnson told the fan to f**k off and not come if he doesnt like it...

Pearce simply told him to f**k off as it was past his bedtime... Wasnt telling him not to come to games

"Infiltrators from Charlton Life"? What does that mean?

Or does it mean "fellow fans who have a genuine view that I dont share"?

You want to stop being a laughing stock mate? Stop making it so easy then.

Its all very sad when fellow supporters are referred to as "Infiltrators" and Sue continues to post controversial comments which people do read.
It's not about the fans being happy with the players signed in the summer, we just make comments. Its the manager and scouts who have the experience and inside knowledge on players. She should know fans can often be wrong and its only an opinion. Also fans always vent their anger on the manager and players when things are bad.
Clearly we aren't playing well and as always results matter and Slade knows that, so he's got to go. Surely Sue can realise that.

No, but you seem to be suggesting that "fuck off and don't come" is somehow different to "fuck off it's past your bed time".

I just assumed you were joking. Obviously I was wrong. I'll have to keep an eye out for your posts in the future.

    That clear?

Telling a kid to fuck off as its past their bedtime isn't exactly a good way to encourage that fan and possible others to come back, is it.
Therefore, his words do mirror johnsons.

Decided after not renewing my season ticket for the first time since 1990, cause of the Belgian Clowns in charge, that I would only go to home games when I'm not working (An easy option as a shift worker, but saves on your annual leave) that I would go this evening.

I missed the Rochdale game so I was more than aware that tonight was not going to be a confident eleven out there

Couple of pints on the Royal Oak with a few lifers before the game and then into my seat which unbeknown to me was right in the front of the directors box. Not enough alcohol in my system or brave enough to say towards the Belgian Grinner and the Perks's I'm afraid but to be honest I don't think they give a Shit of what people say anymore (Apart from Mrs Perks who had a words with a disgruntled fan at the end).

Slade is a dead man walking. Just stood there for the majority of the game with his arms folded and hardly said a word.

Who plays the music at HT? Very apt songs tonight

    Figure it out. Royal Blood
    Satisfaction. The Rolling Stones

You missed I wanna be sedated-The Ramones

What exactly is the point of stirring it up about the players - the atmosphere is bad enough already.
No doubt we'll see a picture of one of our fans in the Daily Mail looking sad and claiming to be traumatised by what the player said.

While there is no excuse for a player saying that to a kid, I wonder what the provocation was. I have heard children at The Valley using remarkable graphic and abusive language towards players, probably unaware of half of what they were saying. If the dugout was subjected to a barrage of this then perhaps they just snapped.

What really pisses me off are people who spend their time goading others and then get highly offended and hurt when they finally get a response. Definitely a modern disease...

The rate we're going at we'll be booing all our players on the basis of some comment they allegedly made. What a sensitive bunch of fans we have.

Booing players for just being crap is much fairer...

Exactly. That's why I thought the comment was tongue in cheek.
Reason my comment wasnt tongue in cheek was that the very first Football game I went to was between Welling and Stalybridge Celtic got free tickets through my Primary School (1992 possibly) so went with my Dad

The match finished 3-3 so was a good match but I couldnt tell you a thing about what happened apart from one occasion when the ball came out of play and I picked it up, astonished at getting the ball I didnt throw it back quick enough and this player ran over to me shouting: Give me the f**king ball.

I threw it back and gave my Dad a cheeky look as if to say: OMG that bloke just used the f'word (Being around 10-years old at the time it was the first time I'd heard someone swear)... Yes I wasnt told by the player it was past my bedtime, nor was I told not to come back again, yet since then the language from the players is just something I've grown used to.

After all, despite the money thrown about its a working class game so your going to get language thrown about from fans / players etc. rather than "I say old boy would you mind throwing the ball back to me" which is why I feel last night was an over-reaction from those who get offended all too easily these days.

Ultimately that boy wont come back not because he was sworn at but because of the s**t football on show at the moment
