Thoughts from someone on Roland's emails from Facebook.

    image

big difference between asking questions and interfering

And also between 'interfering' and thinking that, if you play comically shit players enough times in a good league, another club will actually want to pay you money to sign them ;-)
  • But the liege cast offs were always an improvement because the Belgian top tier is better than and comparable to the championship.
  • If he did ever sell, just think of the kind of arsehole he'd sell to.
  • If it's an arsehole who just wants the team to succeed, recognises they aren't a football expert and delegates to people competent to do the job, that's a good result.

If it's an arsehole who has less money but who wants to run the club with a view to success.

If he manages to find someone who both has less money but to a greater extent thinks they are god's gift to football even more so than him, then wow.
  • The truth is out. We need to stand together and drive them out. An all out boycott must be next. Out, out, out!
  • Might sound slightly sad but i can't bring myself to listen to the podcasts, it will just make me so angry at what Roland has done for this once great club.

    And that is the worry.

We'll have to hope that we'll be landed with a 'normal' board.
  • Don't lie about it anyway. Meire has basically called Powell a liar by denying his account was true. Duchatelet has accused the man of doing something he hasn't done which questions his deserved reputation of honesty. If you look outside the ground there is a picture of the great man - whatever your views of his managerial skills, this disrespect of a Charlton hero cannot be acceptable.

We have witnessed the disrespect a releative of Jimmy Seed has received from representatives of the club. We have also seen Meire divulge that our man applied for the managers job after Peeters was sacked! Our man FFS! And why divulge it you evil cow! This is so disrespectful it is unreal. We have been disrespected and patronised at every turn to boot.

And if you add the slander against our best CEO form our worst, and she wasn't without tough recent competition for that crown, well it just isn't acceptable. I'm not going to go to the cup game as planned. I am not putting money in the pockets of those lying scumbags!

Would somebody please explain what this means ? Inbox me if needbe Thanks

  • Most likely it got forwarded around internally between the management team... "Damien, take a look at what I'm dealing with here... But at least now I know what 4-4-2 is! Chrissy"

I can think of an even more likely scenario, but would rather not speculate in detail, in case I'm right on the general principle but wrong on the people involved, and inadvertantly drop someone in the shit.
  • As I said on twitter, it was our super agent Sue she smuggled it out in the vol-au-vents!
  • I bet they are working double shifts at Pitch PR trying to put a positive spin on this mess. :)
  • @Grapevine49 Nailed it again.
  • Did Roland inherit his wealth?

  • Did Roland inherit his wealth?

There is very little information on his early years in his Wikipedia page, beyond that he founded Melexis in 1990 and 'became a multimillionaire'. It doesn't give any clue as to how much capital he actually started with.

Given the utter shambles witnessed over the last couple of years, I have been wondering exactly how much of his wealth has been self made. There is something of the Trump about him (Beyond also having a comical hairpiece).
  • Sometimes in life you do have to wonder on what planet some people have lived.

I actually have no problem with any investor communicating his views to his management but by what judgement would seek to advise a fully professionally qualified individual who had lived and breathed the industry for over 20yrs of his life, working with a succession of the highest qualified and most talented coaches in the country with the opinions of a completely unqualified scout who rarely even goes to games?

Can there be a more distorted value set? On what possible level would you equate the respective judgements of the individuals concerned?

The fact he did not pick up the phone to have the discussion speaks to the fact the author did not feel confident in doing so because he knew the recipient of his call would probably embarrass his ignorance of the subject matter.

To pass off the opinions of others without the right of reply to those offering such opinion is divisive in the extreme.

To put such thoughts in writing, the content of which however you wish to interpret its meaning, is a positive embarrassment. It resembles the efforts of an 11yr old who had just read the first chapter of a coaching manual.

Can there have been any greater exposure of the ignorance of an investor in an industry in which he chose to invest?

M Duchatelet the problem is not you sent the emails, it is not particularly the possible interpretation of the content, although very clearly in light of past denials it is very much open to question, the problem is it displays a mind boggling absence of professional gravitas and competence.

If you ever wished to declare your complete ignorance on a subject matter to the people you employ ......this was it.

If it was not so seriously inadequate it would actually be very funny.

To then choose to respond to the GTKTN revelations after your organisation publicly confirmed it would not be responding merely reinforces the picture of complete professional incompetence.

Do you people actually ever talk to each other? Are you ever on the same page? Or M Duchatelet is it simply you so arrogantly disdainful of anyone who works for you that no matter what press releases or communications they issue, no matter the professional advice you are given you are going to have your say regardless.

M Duchatelet I am beginning to wonder whether you should be allowed out on your own.

@Grapevine49 , you could write the biggest pile of stinking poo imaginable and I'd still give it a like because of the quality of your writing. As it happens, you've nailed it yet again. A book would be in order if you have the time and inclination.

    Indeed.

If Roland was a self made man....I'm sure katrien would have mentioned it only a thousand times.

If Roland started from absolutely nothing....and worked his way up.

    I would be surprised.

Due to the fact that it would be more obvious if he did.

    Agreed.

Throughout all of this, his attitude seems to have been a bewildered 'why don't the restless proles know their place?'.

Inheriting sizeable wealth would explain his apparent detachment from anything approaching normal life. Katrien probably has a very similar background
  • What a superb listen.

I suspect Ms Meire comes from a fairly well to do family. It would certainly go a long way to explain the stench of entitlement emanating from her.
