I have to say I'm pretty perplexed by people happy for him to go. Even if you don't like him, English football isn't exactly bursting with young managers looking to play possession based attacking football.
I think Robison has done well to this point, I'd give him about a B. But we've just come through January with three loan signings with some quality (all of whom, I suspect, have been entrusted to him), retaining our best young defender, and winning three on the spin to end the month no less. Why you would choose to sack him now seems crazy to me.
It feels like one admittedly frustrating loss and we're back to "we're shit, he's shit" again. But we're 2 points off the playoffs with 1-2 games in hand and we play pretty much everyone above us at home in the run in. Given the injuries we've had, and the takeover stuff making January incredibly difficult, I think that's earned Robinson at least the ability to see the season out, pending a huge drop in form.
Unless he has been told he is gone, which makes no sense to me, I don't see him taking a position at a club that is on its way to League One, when he is close to the playoffs here and with new owners coming on.
I said at the start of the season that this would be the season to judge him. At the very least I want a playoff position Anything less is not acceptable

I feel our current position is a fairly good accomplishment given the change of ownership situation sapping energy, selling Holmes and trying to make due with essentially no transfer budget and horrid injuries.
We are not a great squad, in my opinion, even healthy. That's on the owner more than KR, in my opinion.

No argument from me regarding the owner I think he is a total cnut.
As for Robinson with the players at his disposal we should never have lost at home to Oxford last week. I am going to Doncaster tomorrow and I expect nothing less than a win. No more excuses just win matches.

Spot on mate - How many managers do some of you want to go through every season?

so 6th and a semi final defeat is acceptable? Like hell it is. Anything less than promotion is unacceptable.
I don't think anyone has said anything different, the issues seems to be should he be shown the door now/when new owners come in? I struggle to see the logic behind that.
This is especially true because there are a lot of positions at the club that are currently vacant. Unless the new owners are exceptionally well prepared with a CEO, COO, CFO, and Director of Football (amongst others), all ready to go from day one, it makes more sense to first fill the senior positions that are empty (or where fresh blood is desperately needed), then make a decision on the manager with an entire SMT in place. Obviously I expect they'll have people lined up for at least some of those positions, but I also suspect there will be some learning curves as there are for any other job.
Again, I think that unless our form falls off a cliff, it makes far more sense to wait until the summer to assess Robinson and the job he's done.

The sub of Aribo for Fozzy, when it should have been Jacko (as an extra defender) was unforgivable with our record of dropping points late in games. For me, that shows he is not learning/improving and as a result he has lost my support this season - after starting with a blank sheet of paper.
Just imagine if that was the first leg of a playoff semi ?

So one substitution in one game loses all your support? That says more about you than it does about him.
Also, he has many flaws, but making attacking changes when he should be making defensive ones has not been a constant this season. It's far more often been the case that he's waited too long to make a change, and those are distinctly different issues. I agree I think the Aribo change was the wrong one, but once again it's one loss and we're shit and Karl's shit.
so 6th and a semi final defeat is acceptable? Like hell it is. Anything less than promotion is unacceptable.
Do yourself a favour. Go and write down the names of the strikers available to KR at the end of the August window.
Then do the same exercise for SCP's champions team.
And then the current Wigan team.
Let us know if you get a lightbulb moment...
not sure I like the tone of your post but heyho ......
The lack of strikers is partly Robinson's fault. He spent so long trying to get in players like Reeves when he could, if he'd wanted, have got in another striker instead. Why did he not, for example, get Best in then?
Sorry but where did I say he should be storming the league and getting 101 points. I'm not expecting that, he isn't good enough to achieve it anyway, but asking for promotion as a minimum requirement isn't unreasonable.
Who cares about Wigan? Again where have I said we should be on a par with them. However we not even in the play offs as it stands so Wigan are the least of our problems.
Sorry if I don't rate Robinson and his lack of tactical nous and his inability to change formation, especially during games, but I don't.

why the END of the August window - it opened in July & we were told that we would be "doing our business early" his words.
As Large says, he held out for Reeves when we already had enough midfielders & a severe lack of strikers. Even if Novak hadn't had left we would have had only 3 main strikers (Novak, Magennis & KAG) and none of them are capable or proven to score enough goals to get you promoted. A striker should have been THE number one priority. A golden, proven, out & out striker. Not a No 10, a wide man who can upfront if needed, or even a defender who has a great finish on him (Sarr). A STRIKER. He has said many times that he has been left to bring in the players he wants. This is his team & so he lives or dies by it.
Then you have his tactics. No plan B, not even a Plan A (part 2). I have seen enough games this season to comment on it - have you ??? (and by that I mean live, in person, not streamed where you only see part of what is going on)
And then his coup de grace, the January window. Yes he was severely hamstrung by the club being up for sale & only able to get in loanees - but then he did the same as in August & let a striker leave on deadline day (KAG) leaving us with a player with dodgy hamstrings (Mavididi) and another who had been out injured for best part of a year & has not played a competitive match this season (Zyro). This is not hindsight either, just read my post of the KAG thread the day after deadline day...........and I don't consider myself psychic just stating what was obvious to anyone.
Anyway, its all a moot point as I read that Barnsley are going to announce their new manager on Tuesday and its wont be Robinson.
He has to be fair been extraordinarily unlucky with injuries to key players. I for one want Robbo given a chance once RD departs.
Is it luck or a poor training regimine?
Also, those thinking the critisicm of him is just a knee jerk reaction to our last defeat, it's not, what about all the other defeats, all the other occasions he's refused to deviate from 'his tactics' and his inability to see beyond his own ego.
He doesn't learn and never will. Give him until the end of the season, as I don't think anyone else could do much better with his unbalanced squad, if we don't go up, get rid ASAP.
Given the injuries we've had, and the takeover stuff making January incredibly difficult, I think that's earned Robinson at least the ability to see the season out, pending a huge drop in form

You're being a bit harsh and, to be fair, I don't think you've seen much of KR's Charlton this year. We should be at least comfortably third in the table, only Wigan & Blackburn at this stage should exceed us. Robinson as a manager is a million miles off, if we're promoted then wonderful but if we aren't (and we probably won't) he should be sacked.

I've seen every game this season. Were it not for a terrible run of injuries, and if we'd had any sort of cover at striker, I'd say we should at least be fourth. But Shrewbury had a brilliant start and have only slightly come down to earth. Blackburn and Wigan as mentioned are quite good.

So would 3 points from 8 games mean you’d want him moved on ?
If that happened again and we fell away from the play-off places, then yes, probably, especially if we maintained a largely fit squad.
If we lose literally half of our first team regulars to injuries all at once (again) then questions should seriously be asked of Robinson, of the fitness and sports science staff, and of the players.
If he's offered the Barnsley job then he should have no hesitation in taking it. With new owners coming in soon, there is no guarantee that he could be in employment with us by August this year. Most of the time they all like to bring in their preferred choice.
Bills won't pay themselves, and he had no hesitation joining this basket club under the current owner, when he's was advised by other football people not to touch it.
