More Facebook rumours - apparently Robinson wants out and has been applying for other jobs.

Hard to view as credible isn’t it ? Wouldn’t actively applying for other jobs seriously jeopardise a pay off if he was sacked. Maybe his agent has been checking out the lay of the land but seems unlikely to me he has been actively applying.
  • I think a lot of meaningful applications are done verbally in football!

Well Katrien did the same ... and didn’t tell uncle Roly , so anything is game with this mob

Yep, agree, I'm not taking them too seriously but thought I'd share anyway. It wouldn't be that surprising if he was named as Oxford manager next week, although I'm expecting it'll be a former big name player or manager.

He was touting himself for the Wigan job pre season
  • Can someone get down to the car park next week and get a bit more info out of him.

He likes a chat and is very approachable.
  • Despite the inflexibility in his tactics and his engagement in contradictory soundbytes, Robinson is nowhere near as bad as some of the exaggerations being provided on this thread.

He has though had a very poor, disappointing season, does not fully have others to blame for that, and it looks to me it’s becoming increasingly obvious he no longer wants to be here and nor do the players.

I fear a very toxic couple of months

I think the inflexibility of tactics have become quite a major issue.

  • I expect Robinson is hoping/assuming that we get sold before the start of the new season so he'll get the tin tack and then collect his pay off.

I don't for one minute believe there is anything in the Oxford job.
  • To be fair he has a lot of problems to deal with managing us and most managers would struggle but his failure to even want to adapt makes him appear clueless or limited.

I think it’s best for all concerned if he gets another job and we appoint jj or euell as caretaker until the takeover is done.
  • I still don’t think he will be sacked because it will cost money and I don’t think he will be poached by another club because he’s record is not so great as to warrant paying compensation.

Up until probably this weekend I have given him the benefit of doubt. He has been and is working in quite difficult circumstances but I do think that in pretty much any normal club or even ours at another time his position would be in doubt.

His teams performances have just not been good enough for a club of Charlton’s size in the third tier of football.

I reckon your newborn would do a better job.
  • Yes, it isn't a new development even before he was trying to sell the club!
  • I have been told that he has been dropping hints all week that he is going and they think he may resign tomorrow. That said it would take a few weeks to find someone to give his resignation letter to!

He won't be sacked, RD won't pay the compensation. He's using the takeover to excuse his lack of interest in running the club properly.

RD loves paying sacked manager compensation.

Although I assume the contracts of Luzon , peters and co were rather weak.

  • Of the lot I preferred Bob Peeters.

I don't think he would have got the tin tack if it was not for the supposed problems at the training ground.

He’ll point to the good start to the season and will blame injuries and the rudderless state of the club as the sale ‘progress’.
I’d go for Sven if I was Oxford, but you’d imagine Sven would be much more expensive.

That’s interesting. If he has already got another gig then by him resigning then Compensation would still be payable ? unless he’s arguing constructive dismissal ?

  • I took it as the Oxford job, I wouldn't think compo would be payable in such circumstances.
  • Sooner he fecks off the better, let Ewell have a go till the end of the season!
  • I took it as the Oxford job, I wouldn't think compo would be payable in such circumstances.

Why do you think that. Surely if that was the case compensation would never be paid ? A manager would just resign and change jobs ?

Our small team doesn't have enough players that really threaten from set pieces. Even taller players like Konsa and Aribo aren't strong in the air.
We rarely score from corners; why not? A couple of thoughts:

    1) A corner should always clear their 1st man, if it's intended as long/far post.

    2) Where's our movement and strategies?
Example: Ball to the near post, header flicked on across the goalmouth, the late runner storms in at the back post unmarked.
Wrongfoots defenders every time. We never see Charlton do anything like it these days.

An occasional short corner, to a tricky ball player to drive into the box and draw defenders to him to create space in the box and cause
defensive panic - hey, might even win a rare penalty.

Or driven low into a crowded box, often very difficult to defend, resulting in ricochets and loose balls.
    Again defenders wrongfooted.

A bit of variety keeps the oppo guessing. It often seems that Bauer's physical presence is the only tactic we have.
My God, I sound like Viewfinder

We did that loads, only not deliberately.
We need someone on the near post for every corner, to flick on anything underhit. Been saying it all season, Karl.
Hi James, I said "Or driven low into a crowded box", - in context, from a short corner - not direct from the flag kick.

But the essence of my post was to mix in different options of taking corners, rather than a succession of underhit long direct flag kicks.

I think what did for Peeters was he started blaming the people who run the club!
  • TBF, I like KR. He’s brought some decent players into the club and i think it’s only really been the loss of Clarke that’s fucked up his game plan. Reeves is better than a lot of people on here give him credit for but his efforts can’t make up for the absence of a strike force whereas Clarke’s did That we haven’t been able to work around that with what most on here would consider to be the obvious solution, ie 442, is totally frustrating, especially when you consider how few points we’ve picked up and yet we aren’t that far behind a play off spot even now. A semi-decent run in the past couple of months and we’d all be thinking the automatics were still on. Next Saturday if he’s still around is the last chance saloon I suspect because the atmosphere will most likely turn toxic pretty quickly.
