  • Of the lot I preferred Bob Peeters.

I don't think he would have got the tin tack if it was not for the supposed problems at the training ground.

But if true, then that's as good reason as any to sack a manager.

And not surprisingly, in the end he couldn't buy a win at any cost.
Why? Because he'd lost the dressing room.

    Peeters had to go.

  • I took it as the Oxford job, I wouldn't think compo would be payable in such circumstances.

Why do you think that. Surely if that was the case compensation would never be paid ? A manager would just resign and change jobs ?

Yes sorry, I'm assuming he will resign to take the job at Oxford.
  • He had a weak squad that couldn't cope with loss of form and injuries. Not saying he was blameless but when you are not winning it does cause tensions!

On the other hand I guess in such circumstances Oxford would have to pay Roly compensation!
  • I would imagine that, if and when he goes, his reputation won't have suffered too much as most of the wider football world will just think "with that owner he had no chance" rather than realising that Robinson was actually making a bad situation worse through his own ineptitude.

It will be two ways, he’ll either

    1. go big on how difficult he had it and what a great job him and his stuff did to make the club normal again (even though it was actually Slade that did that), or

    2. he’ll say nothing as part of his early release from his contract with no compensation will be for him to keep his trap shut, imo
  • I think what did for Peeters was he started blaming the people who run the club!

    Didn't know that.

"He's got no hair but we don't care"

Karl's biggest weakness is that he insists a player must fit his rigid system.
But he doesn't have enough of those players.

Surely the essence of a good manager is to devise a system that gets the best out of the players you have.
And to get each player to play to his strengths.

That way you create a team "greater than the sum of its parts".

All the great managers work this way.
    Why don't you, Karl?

To be honest, the great managers earn the power to buy the best players to fit their preferred system. But in League One you have to look at your strengths and weaknesses as you highlight. One of our weaknesses is we don't have a team full of goalscorers - so we sell a goalscorer in Holmes! That wasn't Robinson's fault and it highlights that there is a greater issue here than him. But you do have to play with the hand you are dealt and try to find a way - and we do have some decent players - whether they are showing that now or not!

Perhaps I should have said good managers, Muttley.

I really meant the managers who work with what they've got, with perhaps a well thought out signing or 2 to complete the jigsaw - rather than the glory boy 'look at me' managers with their open checkbook and endless budget.

  • So we are in agreement that Robinson is neither a great nor a good manager. As he has gained a promotion, I know followed by a relegation, I suppose he is probably a bang average manager, which given the circumstances is not what we need given the state of our club!

Not backing Doucher up... I have also been told by a journalist works for another club - not on here that the talk about Robbo to Oxford is coming from both Oxford sources and Robbo's agent.

Could have some legs in it.

Tomorrow would be a day too soon
    So, Monday then?
    Maybe
aren't Oxford supposed to making an announcement on Tuesday?
  • Fraeye was the reason we got relegated and of course our transfer policy - Riga didn't have the resources to do much about it, whereas he had a number of players with the right character and qulaities the first time.
  • Who is James Maddison ?

If KR jumps, is ditched, gets a taxi to Oxford it seems not worth getting in a perm manager at this stage of the season. JJ and Lee must bear some responsibility for our poor play, so Euell is most people's favourite. But how about Diarra? Don't know about any coaching badges but unlike JE, knows the squad as he is training with them, has a footballing brain, immense experience and will be highly respected by players.
  • Who is James Maddison ?

Just another Charlton fan I think
  • Who is James Maddison ?

Try Google. Most phones & computers have it.

If there was someone running the club, surely they would sack Robinson for doing this.

He doesn’t care ... he knows RD won’t pay him off.
  • If only Meire was here to shake things up.

Hmm, you're right ... she'd have had him sacked and 20 interviews done in next to no time.

Hopefully this is whats stopping him from getting a job, even when he's sacked by Charlton... and that clubs wont want to know because they dont want a Manager who might do the same one day to them!!

He'd be first to slag off the likes of Fosu if they started to do this and is even more criminal coming from the Manager!!
