Imagine - John Lennon. Yeh, I know, sacrilege isn't it - and this coming from a massive Beatles/Lennon fan. I hate the way this song has come to define him, particularly in the media who hated, vilified and ridiculed him in the days when the establishment saw him as a threat and he and Yoko were virtual pariahs. Now he is "a legend" to them. Frankly, his solo albums, apart from John Lennon/ Plastic Ono Band, were mediocre, but that another argument. Anyway, give me Help, In my Life, Strawberry Fields, A Day in the Life, God or Instant Karma over this sugar coated contrivance.
Any Rap (I won't call it music) Talentless dirge passed off as music by even less talented people, complete con of rock & roll swindle levels.
I almost flagged you for this...but then I remember most people get fed the stuff that gets fed to radio stations, and do not get exposed to people like Little Brother, Dilated Peoples, Heiroglyphics, Souls Of Mischief, A Tribe Called Quest and instead, mind you thats not rap, thats hip hop, there IS a difference.
As for what I cant stand that everyone loves, it has to be anything Barry Manilow has ever done
Was a big Oasis fan in my teen years but hate some of the more successful stuff they have done.
Wonderwall as someone has already said.
Some Might Say
And the main one - Roll with It. Utter shite - although most people probably accept that.
Oh and anything by Blur. Nothing to do with the supposed band rivalry.... I just never liked their music back in the day (other than Song 2).
Completely agree up until the point about Blur. Was a big Oasis fan back in the day but could never get my head around just how bad 'Roll With It' was.
Would throw in anything by Bon Jovi. Particularly, 'Living On a Prayer'. And nearly anything by Queen.
Someone like you by Adele. If you are in a down period this is the last song you want to hear. Great voice though; however, she could do a lot worse if she was to knock out a few Chas N Dave numbers.
In keeping with the spirit of lots of other posters. Everything ever done by anyone I don't generally like much, even though because I don't like them much I haven't actually heard 99% of what they do, and most of their songs don't fall into the great category anyway.
I don't understand it when some people claim that the likes of Jay Z or Kanye West are 'geniuses'. And they do it in a way as if to say 'ah because you're not on the right wavelength to grasp what they're doing, that's why you don't see it'
I've never got the 'greatness' around those two, not one bit. And I don't hate rap music.

kanye west is awful, id describe the shite he comes out with as pop

Heres a clip of Kanye West when he had to leave the stage, if you listen to him speak you can hear the autotune trying to tune what he's saying to the key of the song. 'Genius' yer right, he's robbin a fuckin living.....!

I think the advent of rap and hip hop is where I started to turn into my parents. Who wants to listen to some egotistical berk pratting on about some semi-literate bollocks like he knows the score. And DJ culture wtf? Spin the fooking discs you twat and don't prat-on over the beginning and the fade; and stop pretending that you are bigger than the artists you are playing. And sampling. Do the job yourself you nobody and don't take a cheap ride on a real artist.

Whining, nasal, Brummie bollocks.
"There's a rat in mi kitchen, what am I gonna do?"
Run for the hills Ali, don't bloody sing about it.

I mean for its genre it's quite a good song but didn't bother the UK when released but now the airplay has increased 1000%.
One word, well two. Bloody Glee.
Snobby enough for you

Sounds like a district in an African by-election
I don't like the sound of rap music and hardly ever listen to it - but some of the lyrics are incredible.
I think that the lyrics of The Message for example are amazing......and right up there with any of those penned by more established lyrical 'gods'.
Let's face it......Bob Dylan......amazing lyrics and stories but can't sing for toffee.
You don't need to be a great singer to fall into the genius category IMO.
Riverside - Sidney Samson
Mr Brightside - The Killers
