Shed Seven last night in Kingston on their mini tour celebrating 30 years of A Maximum High album which was played from start to finish and then a few songs afterwards.

As always finished the set with Chasing Rainbows.

Off to see them again at Brixton in December and fingers crossed I can get a ticket in the next couple of weeks for the stadium gig at York City’s ground at the end of next May.

Superb tonight at Scala, great venue. Have December booked and an air b&b in York sorted, getting on Tuesday morning for tickets..obviously assuming we don't make the play-offs ;-)

Body Parts last night at Kentish Town Forum.  They were so-so, but the best bit was, they were the support for...

Courtney Barnett.  Awesome guitarist, shame about the mullet, and the other two were pretty good, too.
  • Besnard Lakes at the 100 Club in Oxford Street. Second time I’ve seen them and can’t understand why they aren’t more popular.

Angine de Poitrine at the Troxy last night.  Despite the weirdness, such amazing musicians and the crowd were insane. Can't wait to see them at Glasto next year.

A bit of self promotion and not technically a gig, but if there are any Elvis fans on here, I am running my next gig in Dartford tonight.

No karaoke, no impersonators, no jumpsuits, pure Elvis music and a little bit of Halloween fun, all ages welcome

Not a 'gig' as such but saw Jeremy Bowen delivering his Truth Under Fire talk/presentation/lecture/show.
Fascinating, sobering and horrific in equal measure.
Included footage that would have been broadcast at the time (Iraq, Bosnia, Lebanon/Israel border) plus the graphic before and after that certainly wasn't.
Most of the stories covered were familiar, the depth and eye witness detail less so.
Amongst the bullshit clamour of "BBC bias" to which the corporation's reportage is so often subjected it was illuminating to learn that JB was called as a witness for the prosecutions at The Hague warcrimes trials of  Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic and his ultimate boss late Serbian president Slobodan Milosevic.  The latter died in prison of a heart attack before his trial was completed but Karadzic remains incarcerated in HMP Parkhust (Isle of Wight) serving his life sentence for genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity.
The title Truth Under Fire was double edged i.e. "reporting when people are shooting at me" and "alternative facts propagated by very powerful people".
Highly recommended but be aware if you are triggered by first hand testimony and real time footage of atrocities.

Excellent Dexys Midnight Runners gig at Hackney Empire last night.  KR in very good form and overall much better than I expected. Loved them playing much of the old stuff, with the brass belting it out!

Basht at Koko tomorrow night. Looking forward to this one. Lots of good noise around their live shows and the debut album is excellent.

I hope you old fogies are going to see Rush. I have been watching some of the gigs in the USA and it looks like a gig that you should not miss. Anika Nilles sounds superb and worth the ticket money just to watch her play. I’m disappointed that I can’t get to any of the UK gigs but I’m hoping that I can get to Paris.

Managed to get U2 tickets for next June at the Spuds’ stadium.

On my missus’ bucket list so think I’m in her good books for a few days.

I was there. It was brilliant.

Manics were great, Suede were amazing.

One of the longest gaps for me between seeing a band.

Before last night, the last time I saw Suede was at the New Cross Venue in early January 1992, after which I bought all their early singles.

Yeah, they were both great weren't they. Have never seen Suede before but have been listening to their back catalogue and on top of the old stuff - which I knew - some of their newer stuff is really really good.

Who knew?! Definitely a new one for me.

And £9.50 for a pint at the 02 is shit, especially for Budweiser.

Went for the Thatcher's Gold for £8.50 only to be handed a lukewarm can! You can get 10 cans for £11 in Tesco!
