And if you don't listen to the talk of the town
Then maybe you can fool yourself
You'll get over us I know you will
You'll pretend your ship not sinking
And tell yourself I'm over you
Because you're the king of stupid people
Because you're the king of stupid people

Being pedantic is the bread & butter of Charlton Life.bazjonster said:

That 'keeper dropping the free-kick at around 1:05:00, it's not Thuram-Ulien showing how right Roland is again, is it?1 -
Pure guess work on my part but I am hoping it is because the time lag gives RD and KM enough time to spin a load of untruths thinking this is all of the evidence before another load of factual evidence is presented which unpicks all of their come backs to the first episode. Most programmes work up to a grand finale and I am somewhat hopeful this one will too.Valley11 said:Why is the 3rd ep of GTKTN out in jan? Is there some sort of legal challenge?

According to Roland we should have dancing after a match.
So on Wednesday evening after the game, we should form a conga line with the Millwall supporters whatever the result of the match, and dance our way to the local taverns where we shall dance and drink the night away with our Millwall friends22 -
Inspired by Eleanor Rigby by The Beatles:
Ah look at all the stupid people
Ah look at all the stupid people
Katrien Meire, picks up the phone
After a game where noone has been
Lives in a dream
Stares out the window, wearing the face
That she bought in a fancy dress store
Who is it for
All the stupid people
Where do they all come from?
All the stupid people
Where do they all belong?
Roland Duchatelet, speaking the words
Of a rant that everyone hears
The end comes near
Look at him sweating, taping his shoes
In the night when there's nobody there
What does he care
All the stupid people
Where do they all come from?
All the stupid people
Where do they all belong?
Ah look at all the stupid people
Ah look at all the stupid people
Katrien Meire, finally left
As new owners saw their first game
Everyone came
Roland Duchatelet, losing the smile
From his face as he walks from the club
Charlton was saved
All the stupid people
Where do they all come from?
All the stupid people
Where do they all belong?

“Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.” Never has this old adage been more relevant.23

Presenter: So imagine if the head of the Belgian FA (?) sent a letter to Roberto Martinez saying select him or select him, you would find that OK?
RD: Yes
What an extraordinary thing to say? In a world full of arrogance he seriously must be in the top 2%?
Then Jose Riga came in and with all the other players that the other coach had said were bad players, got 1.5 points per match and saved the club, then it all stopped.
Then, genius that you are, you got rid of the coach who got 1.5 points per match and replaced him with one who got 1.2 points per match. Did you forget that bit Roland?
It has been asked how a man so clearly lacking common sense can be a successful businessman. Well I have known several pretty thick, unworldly, sociopaths who have made plenty of money. They are very good at one thing, focus on it and become a success. Often they are bullies and strong negotiators, they have very thick skin, they don't care what people think of them as long as they are making money (look at Murdoch, Philip Green etc). Most of them do realise their limits though, and stick to what they are good at. Sadly the spiteful, out of his depth character that owns the shares in our club isn't one of them.10 -
So chair of the FA, Greg Clarke is entitled to order Gareth Southgate to play Jamie Cureton up front because he has good career stats.5
-
This has actually cheered me up after reading the Posh match thread. Some unity and sense of purpose, 'cos we aren't going to get that on the pitch.
I'm up for going to Belgium, other commitments permitting.7 -

and the scout(s)??? Driesen I presume amongst others.
and he has the temerity to call Chris Powell stupid.............
This defies belief..................it really does.
For crying out loud the EFL should get off sitting on their hands...this man is bringing the game into disrepute surely.
Remember Fraeye was there too.

You can all keep having a go at him, but having read that translated interview, Im prepared to give him another 6 months. He'll come good, I'm sure of it.

I like to thank Weegie Addict for her translation.
But are you sure he said "Bolt ya rocket eejits, away an bile yer heid"
Roland Duchatelet acts as if he owns the Joint; he's pure gallus man.

My retort to our lunatic owner's words of wisdom would be simply to highlight how well Charlton have done under his ownership. They have failed on every level piece of criteria you could invent to measure success. Most tellingly, on the pitch. I can put it in a pyramid and work backward for him if need be, but on any sane person's understanding, the first measure of success must be, the quality of the first XI and results. If he simply chooses to ignore this and drag other random bits of nonsensical criteria into play like dancing and the social element that goes into meeting mates on game days, then he fails at this as well. Match day experience is subjective, but I truly believe that if you canvas everyone of our supporters, not one will say they enjoy it anymore than they did 5, 10 or 50 years ago.
The guy in my opinion is a deluded twat. The only chink of green light in that interview is that he won't be in football forever.15 -
I know that this is the silly season but I cannot be unduly bovered by your stupid suppositions which are boring and show what a vindictive person you are. I know I shouldn't bite but a lol is all that you are worth. You can be better than this Henry - season of goodwill at all that hyperbole....Henry Irving said:

Of course you may be playfully anoying for a laugh..... and I don't get your 'humour'......I can live with that.0 -
Taken us down a league, driven away 60% of the fan base and increased debt to £40m. Roland the genius has the front to call Chris Powell and protesting supporters stupid! He just doesn't get it does he.33

I hadn't thought of that, I thought he meant the network players they handed to us. He couldn't possibly mean the players we already had... though, to be fair, Powell had never heard of a diamond formation.AddicksAddict said:
I read it as he and his scouts knew more about the players SCP already had than SCP did, which are plainly the words of a stupid person.McBobbin said:The network scouts probably did know more.about those players to be fair. Why would Powell need to knkw about those useless tossers he would never want or need

When Fraeye apologises for his integral part in my club's decline both as scout and even more laughably as first team coach then maybe I'll stop pointing out that he was, BY HIS OWN ADMISSION, "co-ordinating the network".
Till then I'll keep pointing out what a disaster he was and you can keep on LOLing when I do.
Happy Christmas

I hate to pour cold water on people's hopes but I expect that when Roland suggests that he will give up his football interests in the not too distant future it just means that he will pass them on to members of his family. He has already done this a couple of times.2
-
And this is the worry for me. If most Owners/CEO's were to mess up as big as this then they would consider their tenure as a failure, but no, old Uncle Roly calls us stupid.Cardinal Sin said:Taken us down a league, driven away 60% of the fan base and increased debt to £40m. How on earth can you fight logic like his? Its baffling.0 -
Yeah I think that may be the case. Hopefully his kids don't have a messiah complex.1

Pretty sure they won't have the same blind loyalty to the incompetent CEO whatever happens.0
