I assume everyone has noticed but why do players when making hand or head gestures always do it to the left.

I know they do it behind to the left as their entourage are usually housed there.

Is it because the right side of the board is people heavy with the scorers and referee on that side.
Family and friends tables are still to the left, as are the cameras

    WHAT A FINISH FROM SOUTAR
  • Love the darts, every year i say i need to go and haven't still.. That William Borland v Bradley Brooks was some game, both amazing youngsters and the way Borland hit a 9 darter on throw to win the match was incredible, never seen anything like it.

Lots of good youngsters coming through based on this and the grandslam, which is good to see.

Fallon was unlucky as Beaton played the best hes played for years and then followed it up last night with an awful performance from both, suppose thats the way it is but annoying when he had the game of his life the round before. I know he has been around for a million years and won before but 96 average and only just beat Fallon 3-2.

final rounds pre xmas tonight, hopefully Rob Cross can have a good run this year as he's been in better form this year. one quarter is quite open and the rest are stacked so difficult to pick who to win even at this stage.
Yeah I’d definitely recommend going once at least, it’s a good laugh.

Massive shame that the BDO isn’t still at Lakeside. I had one of the best days out there, was like stepping back in time.

When did that happen? They’d moved it to the small venue at the O2 when I last looked!

Hats off to Soutar  two sets and two legs down, 8 match points against him  and he won...144 out shot when his opponent was on a finish.

It's where the cameras are. Darts is probably the best sport for TV.

The BDO went bust (that fiasco at the O2 was the end of the shambles). The WDF have taken over effectively the BDO events and were planning Lakeside to start 1st Jan. Its now been moved to April due to Covid (although there is a suspicion its more to do with poor ticket sales)

We're going on the evenings of Thursday 30th and the final on January 3rd (or are we?)

I know it should be the same in theory, but i dont enjoy the other one. Maybe just the way its dressed up and feels like worse standard compared to PDC. I might watch the odd match but never really got into BDO

Remember when the PDC was at Circus Tavern in the mid 90’s.

My girlfriend was working behind the bar there and I asked her to get me John Lowes autograph as was my favourite player.

She comes to work the next day and give me a note that said ‘ To Joe, the best darts player at Barclays- all the best John Lowe’

all very nice of him but my name is John and I worked for NatWest!!

The darts are a worse standard but it’s a better event to attend imo. A lot less arseholes and a generally more entertaining venue.
  • Not sure of the detail but I think the BDO used to run the county set up and by all accounts left it in a pretty sorry state.
Thankfully a new organisation UKDA has taken over to ensure that the womens and mens county structure remains in place.

Wonder how many more it'd take to postpone it.

  • That's really shit.  Imagine if there's a positive test on the day of the final.  What a shit way to end it that would be!!!

    It's a bit of a farce really
  • Will it turn out to be a super-spreader event or will the pre-attending testing etc. prevent it?

Should just stop testing players that have zero symptoms.

You need a Covid pass or a negative test in the last 48 hours.

That'll stop it, with all the social distancing and mask wearing!
  • I assume the Dutch all socialised together over christmas then as that's now Barney, Van der Voort and MVG all tested positive.

It's a reasonable assumption. Not sure about Barney but Vincent and MVG apparently have the same manager and spent Xmas day together at the house of their manager.
  • I'm not sure if Peter Wright just gets really nervous in interviews, but he always looks & sounds completely off his tits!!!
  • Rob Cross v Gurney was a fantastic match, both ended on Average 99, but was pretty much that the whole time. Cross getting the most 180's in a match 13, with 13 140s, Gurney got 8 (i think) but 20+ 140s. Such a high quality match and good to see Cross in a bit of form, barely missed the treble 18 when he went for it.
Gurney just didn't give up, always chasing but in the end Cross takes out 170 to save a deciding leg

Peter Wright struggled early, i fell asleep so missed him hitting some form lol
