Martin Samuel drops a tonne of excrement on Katrien Meire in The Mail...

One of the big boys going to town on her ... good stuff.4

I would be happy to give her a glowing reference.....Tunwellsaddick said:I would love her to get the job at the FA. They won't know what hit them. She has proved her incompetence over and over again so, should fit right in. Could be quite a show.

Any chance a copy of this can be sent to Roland? He would then be fully aware it's not just the fans that see a problem with her incompetence.9
-
A couple of things stand out for me. One, the FA is welcome to her in its current state. They have been for a long time, shit. They've presided over 60 odd years of failure at international level, meekly let the Premier league piss all over them and have hired a bunch of nobodies in terms of people that have just nothing to improve the game from the bottom up.
KM would fit in quite nicely to the FA in its current state.
Secondly, @Weegie Addick raised a good point, and if she doesn't mind me using her as an example, or maybe betty hutchins, these are women in football actually doing something. Weegie is instrumental in the CAS Trust and actually contributes practically to the good of football by her work with the trust and everything good it does for our club and in effect the game.
Betty who I have long since known as a great steward on the away coach has consistently delivered on getting 100s of our fans to games on a consistent basis, and done a bloody good job of it.
Now I don't think for one second either Weegie or Bett have a profile in the wider game to secure such a role (sorry ladies
) but my point is, this is where the FA have their head up their arse re: diversity and inclusion (not just the FA, it can be seen in the world of work too)
As others have said, just because she is a woman in an executive role, doesn't mean she's qualified to be this shining light for advancing women in football. In fact, she's quite the opposite. For her to be appointed actually makes the whole thing laughable.....

With articles like that, we'll never get rid of her.3

She obviously can't even do lunch effectively. Look at the guff Brady gets him to write about the Olympic Stadium

It wouldn't be a bad idea to send them some unsolicited references if we can figure out who needs to get them.shirty5 said:If she needs a reference, then I will gladly pass one on to the FA.

In fairness, she has some skills. She was issuing 'alternative facts' long before Donald Trump cottoned on to the idea.11

An interesting take and fair enough, especially if you isolate Sarah Palin in 2008. I think of her mostly in the 8-9 years hence, in which she has doubled and trippled down on the crazy, and has this strange cult-like following (and yes I know some would argue that comparison is apt as well). Also, @aliwibble had a good shout for Conway, because I think she knows better than the things she says.Ormiston Addick said:

No, they're very much not. Katrien is a lawyer, Sarah Palin has a high school diploma. Holy shit, how many other CEO's of League One teams are so incompetent that they make the Premier League obsessed national press?
Great work Katrien, you have finally made the big time, might have been an idea to sort the day job out first before creating a media profile for yourself.
It certainly would not be entirely unreasonable to compare Meire to US nut-job politician Sarah 'Hillbilly' Palin, both very similar in their backgrounds and conduct.
Yes, I am standing up for KM here to a degree, but only because Sarah Palin was drastically less qualified and given a job exponentially more serious.
KM might have a law degree but worth remembering that George W Bush had an MBA and went to Yale, don't prove a damn thing.
I think they are very similar, Palin got noticed by Bill Kristol and launched onto the national stage when she was nowhere near qualified to do so.
The same happened with Meire, she came under Roland's wing and somehow got parachuted into the CEO slot of a football club despite no experience as CEO or in football at all.
Both of them were then very quickly exposed because they had no idea what they were doing - something that was easily identifiable as soon as they went before the media and public.
I just reread my post from yesterday, posted then didn't check this thread again until this morning, and I think it came across as more exasperated than I meant it too. I was simply trying to say "these two things aren't the same." Sorry to you Ormiston if it felt like an attack, it really wasn't meant to be. And that's before we get into the fact that you had a very well thought out reason for your comparison.
Oh Bill Kristol. It's sad because he gets called really nasty anti-semitic things by White Nationalists, and yet in the Jewish tradition I would also like to say some not so pleasant things about him. Another conversation for another time.0 -

Forgot all about this, wonder who else she wined and dined. Didn't go well though did it.
Bet this article can't be found on Google in a few weeks!
Honestly, between the Google scrub and doing that, those are pretty standard PR things for someone looking to transform their image. I don't really begrudge her any of that. But it's the fact that it just doesn't work. I mean she even had a decent start to the window--I think we got good money for Lookman and JFC and Page are, I think going to be very good long term signings, and Byrne can do it at this level. But it just always goes awry for her.1 -

We shouldn't get too excited by KM getting slagged off in the daily fail by an odious fat gobshite like Samuel. If that pr!ck tells you it's raining, always best to stick your hand out the window to check. She is just an excuse for Jabba the misogynist to have a tedious grumble on one of his dreary peeves at one of his pet hates, the FA. We all know that clueless fuckw!ts running discredited shambles like the FA get harangued by handwringers about equality and diversity and as a result they might appoint egotwits like KM to positions they are ill qualified to fill. MS doesn't give two sh!ts for Charlton's predicament he's just a lazy old school hack with column inches to pad.
Being derided for inadequacy by the daily fail is akin to being called insensitive and unpopular by Katie Hopkins.
Katrien and Roly will just mark down the Mail as unintelligent and not knowing what's best for de president's cloob.4 -

But why be so rude about someone who has written a really supportive article about us?
It's not the first time Samuel has done it. Look at this one he wrote after Chris Powell was sacked - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2578563/It-stinks-great-club-like-Charlton-eighth-highest-attendance-English-football-history-turned-cheap-dumping-ground-MARTIN-SAMUEL.html

No brainer.
Already more respectful, respectable, relevant and competent then Meire0 -
Martin Samuel knows a thing or 2 about football.
Someone that actually does the job he is supposed to.
Report on what is real, down to earth and important.
Not many out there.2 -
Now THAT is an article. Well informed, haven't pulled any punches either... Why doesn't she get it that she should just fuck off out of the club? Incapable, incompetent and unqualified.5

I'm tempted to pull out some of the articles the fat toad has written to order defending West Ham's great taxpayer swindle, including attacking Charlton fans for daring to speak up against it.Dave2l said:Martin Samuel knows a thing or 2 about football.

But this is not the place. It is a good article supporting our concerns, as have been Rod Liddle's, despite him being a slimy Spanner.

Well the good news from my perspective is that I currently only give a crap about Charlton and getting Roland and his incompetent sidekick

Regardless of his personal intentions, it all helps. She's ill equipped to deal with this on her own. Green Rubashow will have no answer and no help. Bevington if still about will realise her card is marked by senior national journalists and it's like anything, her reputation is crap. No amount of Google cleansing can help her if the likes of Samuel think she's incompetent.StigThundercock said:We shouldn't get too excited by KM getting slagged off in the daily fail by an odious fat gobshite like Samuel. Having someone like Jo Tongue on her side is like having an unmbrella in a tornado4 -
If she can get a full time job at the FA and us rid of her I'm all for her furthering her career. If she makes a success of it that's good, (however unlikely), if she doesn't she either gets the sack or stays in a job surrounded by like minded people.0

Just had a little preview of tonights feature on BBC London news. I think Boris and co might be hiding behind the sofa on this one!.

As someone who works in PR there is something pretty fundamental that Meire and her PR people are forgettting.
If you are running a PR campaign trying to persuade people that you are not running the club like a two-bob circus then, here's the genius part, you need to STOP RUNNING THE CLUB LIKE A FUCKING TWO-BOB CIRCUS.
She can wine and dine Fleet Street for breakfast, lunch and dinner at La Manor Aux Quatre Saisons but it won't make a blind bit of difference if you are still burning through new managers every couple of months, sellling your best players as fast as you can and stuck in mid-table in League One.
Good PR buys you time, it doesn't buy you a new reality.33
