The BBC report describes Holmes' tackle as "a horror tackle" so by the sound of things, it's 2 games running where he could easily have been sent off, which is ridiculous for a player in his position on the pitch

Since I am getting stick from my buddy Kevin Rye, (SD and AFCW bod) can anybody update us on the alleged coin-throwing? Said on match thread that it wasn't as initially reported.

I was about five yards away. Was standing next to a few fans who went bonkers after the linesman (and ref) missed Elliott's elbow on Tex. Not actually sure any of us saw it, but we heard Tex's scream at the impact. It certainly wasn't a blatant, obvious elbow. The lino indicated that he sidn't see it, and then started getting the abuse.
Elliott was a beast, and led with his elbow every time he jumped for the ball, although he eased off after the Tex incident.
Didn't see anyone throw anything, but the lienesman started rubbing his head for a few seconds, then chucked his flag down and walked on to the pitch. He then picked up something from the ground, but it was just some plastic.
He actually had quite a decent game afterwards, as I mentioned to a lad next to me who was giving him some 'verbal encouragement' throught the match. Same for the ref, although he may well have missed a handball in the penalty area, just before the Wimbledon goal.
    This season sucks.

Scrappy game with lots of poor football but we did play some nice stuff occasionally. We all knew we needed the second goal but it didn't come. Novak, who did well otherwise, spurned a very good opportunity after we played the ball out of defence at pace.

Aribo and Konsa both did well, Rudd didn't have a save to make, the defence seemed to have coped with the Wimbledon bombardment until the equaliser.

Magennis looked rusty after a month out, Watt worked hard but wide he is wasted.

Robinson brought on two attacking players to try and stretch them as they pushed forward for the equaliser. It didn't work but he tried. Then again he had no defenders on the bench other than Dasilva.

Botaka wasnt involved. Stephy tried and almost saw a cross loop in.

Promotion winning sides see out that game 1 or 2 nil. We didn't.

The coin throwing from point blank range is disgraceful. Well done to the lino for carrying on.

The banner just generated a lot of singing of Robinson's name which he enjoyed but during which Wimbledon scored.

The amateur psychologists on here and elsewhere have often blamed the singing of protest songs for poor results but seems by the same logic that singing Robinson's name has a negative effect.

Anyone know why they consider him a lying c***? Must be something more specific than just being MK Dons boss.

We were much the better side in the first half but, once again, have paid the price for failing to kill the game off - in this case, against pretty poor opposition, who barely mustered a shot on our goal.

We got stuck in and competed well in the first half and moved the ball much better than Wimbledon. Unfortunately, the second half degenerated and became very scrappy, although Watt had a good curling shot saved, whilst Novak put a good chance into the side netting when he should have done better.

Wimbledon's delivery into the box was poor - both from open play and set-plays - but the fear was always that one goal would not be enough and thus it proved. Their forward won a long, straight punt upfield from the back and Elliot seemed to have the freedom of the penalty area to lash a low shot past Rudd. I'd like to see that one again and try an fathom what happened to our marking.

I'm afraid that this team does not have the ability to see games out and that is, in truth, because we are not good enough. In saying that, this was truly two points cast to the wind against an off-form and pretty poor Wimbledon side.

I thought Aribo played very well. I was not very impressed with Bauer and Chicksen in the second half although, in fairness, the level of most of our players dipped as the game wore on.

I shall be interested to hear what Karl Robinson made of it. An honest and objective assessment of the game would not go amiss.

This is a good assessment. A poor game in freezing conditions. We controlled the first half. The second half was equal, but I never thought they would score (unlike last week). Unlike some who come on a Charlton forum to say they don't care, I do care. I care passionately and I am absolutely gutted that we didn't win a game that we should have.

There's no specific reason for not winning, we played ok, we played with passion, but at the end of the day we just aren't quite good enough to turn draws into wins. If we had strengthened in January with a couple of players better than we have, I'm reasonably confident we would have made the play offs. Roll on Belgium.

I asked Kevin Rye that but he replied only that it refers to his peddling of myths when he was franchise manager. So it seems that he likes to support the "management line" in public.

    I got two likes.
  • To me, top 6 budget yes. One of the best squads in the division, yes. Under-achieving. Yes. Too rigid 4-2-3-1.Yes. Name a player that wouldn't get into any other L1 side. No. (Perhaps Chicksen, not on ability but cos unknown). KR needs to go 4-4-2 at home and against weaker sides like AFCW.

Like James Seed I was right by the lino incident. Their player caught Tex in the face, who went down screaming. I'm not sure how bad the contact was and the lino probably only caught it out the corner of his eye like me.

The lino started rubbing the back of his head as if he was hit by something and then dropped his flag and walked forward onto the pitch. I presume something hit him, yet he was right in front of me & I didn't see anything. He picked up a tiny bit of plastic, which I'm confident wasn't a possible thrown object. Nothing else was picked up and I couldn't see anything on the pitch, even though I was leaning over the boards, about 3 foot from the pitch.

It would be very weird though if the lino faked it, because he didn't like Charlton fans shouting at him, but is not impossible I suppose.

DaSilva looks like one of those RD signings where the manager doesn't actually want him. It kind of smacks of "here you go" when we sold Lookman, but surely if Robinson wanted him he would be playing him now.

Just watched the one minute of Sky "highlights", and the sending off of Elliot is a joke decision.
  • Not a pitch for football to be played on which suited Wimbledon much more than it did charlton.

Should be no excuses in the home matches then.

disappointing .. once again so close to a win .. I have NEVER known a season with so many 1-1 draws

They have replaced our 0-3 defeats record from last season! ;)

To think we've taken 1 point out of 6 against Wimbledon this season...

And one against Millwall as well.

We really don't do London derbies, do we?
We was very good at them in the Prem and in the mid 90's

Sounds like we dropped points yet again to a side that played as team where the sum is greater than the parts.

    Yes
In the premiership we done the double over Chelsea twice
And the double over spurs twice
Also stuck 4 past arsenal at Highbury

    Shall I go on
  • So predictable.

At times we looked quite good but it was flattering to deceive. So little penetration, four attempts on target apart from the goal and one of those was Bauer's clearance from his own half.

i saw it 100%. Wasn't a coin but still a prick for throwing something.

We were good when we were the underdog, whereas our record against smaller London teams is I suspect more disappointing.

Had we hung on, or even managed a (rare) second goal, this thread would be so different.

    But we didn't.

Oddly, if we win our game in hand we won't be far from 6th place, so still all to play for.
  • Very poor game. I personally felt we didn't do enough to finish the game off. Left ourselves open to the equaliser and it came out of no where.

Not good enough to be near the top 6.

    Agree
  • Nice people at AFC Wimbledon. I wish them well. I doubt if any of their players would get into our team, maybe Elliot the tall goalscorer. They were truly crap but managed to raise their game in the second half whereas we seemed to lose our momentum just like against Fleetwood. In the first half we were well on top and should have got another goal. Once again Holmes could have been sent off for a terrible 'one for the team' foul but his free kick goal was beautifully curled into the top right corner.
I wondered who was the new skinhead in our team? It was Watt! He played okay mainly on the left wing and is clearly getting fitter.
Novak really fluffed a big chance in the second half but I thought he held his line up quite well, so I have been kind and given him an average 6 in my players' marks.
Overall we blew it. If you can't beat Wimbledon you really don't deserve to go up. They need shooting because it is definitely 2 points lost.
(At half time I wandered out of the ground to get a coffee in the car park. It was quite surreal. I could have popped across the road into Homebase and ordered a sofa if I had wanted to.)

I did wonder why what Katy was doing when I heard she disappeared at half time. There's no rest for the wicked and that's no rest place for the wicked.

Unlucky two weeks running. Hopefully it will even itself out between now and the end of the season. I still predict we don't get beaten again this season, but we need a series of wins. We also need Watt to score. I'm staying positive, managers and players are now celebrating drawing with us, so things must be on the up. Out of us and `Millwall for that 6th place.

Poor game and performance from start to finish. A few glimpses in the first half but not enough to win the game. The fact we looked like doing so until the very end shows how poor Wimbledon were.

Great day on the boat, just a shame I didn't make it to the pub in time to claim the free beer that @ElfsborgAddick promised me.

Not so much celebrating a draw because it's with us. More the fact that they were injury time equalisers.

    Nothing to do with luck.
