Just donated. Amount now upto £33942
-
I also agree that she should keep any excess money.2
-
I'd like her to put any excess money on us to win promotion at 30/1.
I'm probably the only one though2 -
Thast very kind DA9, I will let her know, I think she's going to be Ok now thanks to everyone's generosity.DA9 said:If she's been living on rice & beans during this awful time for her, I would be happy to stick £50 on a direct shopping delivery for her @Rob7Lee if she has an account with anyone.
Keep your eye out, South London Press Friday I believe.

I would be more than happy to do the same. Please let me know the method of monetary transfer.Rob7Lee said:

Just to keep the link nice and visible2 -
£3400 and rising.
I know none of us have done this for any sort of recognition or thanks but wouldn't it be nice for the Daily Mail in particular to run with this as the antidote to some of the comments made on the story by their readers?
RIP Ian.6 -
She'd be better off backing a 1-1 draw tonight at 5/1.clb74 said:I'd like her to put any excess money on us to win promotion at 30/1.
I'm probably the only one though
I also think she should keep the excess, all the more so because she's training for a noble profession for which she'll probably be scandalously underpaid.
Some of the comments underneath that Daily Mail article are beyond belief. Magnificent effort on here to raise the money so quickly though.6 -
Just donated.
Well done all!2 -
Sorry dont have much but have donated what I could.
If the food thing that DA9 suggested goes ahead would be happy to put another 20 in towards it in a couple of weeks especially after all the care that nurses have given me in the past few years.
Such a marvellous effort made.11 -
I hadn't looked at the Daily Mail article until now, just looked at the murky world of their comments page. Jesus Christ there are a lot of nasty pieces of work out there. Well done EastFB72 for trying to give some balance.2
-
I only set up the page, took me minutes, the thanks go to everyone who donated and continues to, if I had a hat I'd take it off for you all!2

The comments about the Memorable Plaque from people were especially getting to me because not once had Becky mentioned it and it was just a photo of the stone outside the Valley that the Mail had decided to post yet people decided to get 5 from 2+2 out of it9 -
Wow, phenomenal achievement from all involved in setting this up and for reaching the target. I only gave this thread a cursory glance this morning and thought I'd come back to find a decent amount given but not all of it! Still chipped in a donation because you never know, when qualified Beccy may help to save my life.
Again, well done, it just shows how decent we all are.1 -
our fan base absolutely amazes me. Well done to all involved.1

Nobody should pay any heed to comments on the daily fail's web stories. The daily fail is a despicable tawdry rag to start with, its web presence is mostly soft porn and neo-con bigotry clickbait. Quite what kind of organism feels the need and has the time to type that kind of bile defies belief. Their "views" certainly aren't worthy of consideration.
The fact that a few decent people can club together to help out a fellow citizen through something as tenuous and ephemeral as a shared affection for a football club is the encouraging reminder that the daily fail and its ilk don't amount to anything and never will while the likes of Rob7Lee and Cabbles do what they do.
Don't reckon there's a chance in hell the DM will run this story, even if someone wrote it up and sent it to them complete.21 -
Just donated. Happy for the surplus to go to Beccy. RIP Ian.1

Much as I dislike the Daily Mail, if it wasn't for the article there it's likely the story would never have reached us in the first place, so it does have it's uses. There are no excuses for some of the comments at the bottom of the article however.StigThundercock said:Nobody should pay any heed to comments on the daily fail's web stories. @StigThundercock I agree with your comments on the DM and some of those responses beggar belief about the level of people who troll the internet looking for bites...wannabe Katie Hopkins & Piers Morgans!
I would say though that this time, we'd probably all have been in the dark if they hadn't picked up the Liverpool Echo story so, this time, they've served a good purpose.
Well done all who set up and contributed. It sounds like Beccy is truly overwhelmed & to help her out, when she's likely to be helping us in the future, has been something I've been happy to do, as you all have. Got to love the Charlton Family!7 -
This cause is one of the finist examples of the family that is Charlton Life. Very proud to be a member.19
