BTW, as I claimed a year ago.... I don't think £40M gets a clean sale. I think he wants closer to £50M for that. As the article states, the debt is now £65M and rising, probably by about £600k per month, assuming player sales and cost reductions have reduced the previous loss run-rate of £1M/month. So by season's end, debt will exceed £70M. I just don't see the old fart eating £30M+ to sell. Just don't! I know everyone says the club ain't worth close to that, but I don't think RD cares what anyone else thinks.

I think the hold up is not just the price but the ad-ons and player transfer profits and other such stuff I suspect he wants, which I think RD will want until he gets closer to £50M, all-in. Unless we are top 6 by Christmas, I think he will sell Taylor, KAG and Aribo in the winter and will keep doing that every window as a further way to reduce the difference between the bid and ask price. Just bleed the club dry and sell the bones.

Yeah, I think it is that dire. And yeah, I think he is potentially that bad.
  • And between now and Christmas he loses roughly another 2.5 million. Taylor, KG and Aribo won’t cover that.

He was 'furious' with Fawaz and broke of negotiations with him because of the 'breach of trust' of posting a picture of his tour of the Valley on social media.

I just don't believe the "he was angry with Fawaz so he stopped negotiations" line of reasoning, in the press. I am sure he did not want it going public, but if Fawaz ran over Roland's dog, I think Douchatelet would take Fawaz' offer if it met his price. Since when does RD care about things like confidentiality.... at least compared to money? Answer.... never. If Fawaz offers £45-50M, Roland would grab it right away, confidentiality be damned.
But you have selectively quoted part of my post out of context.

I have no idea whether Duchateley was ‘furious’ at Fawaz or not (hence the inverted commas).

I was simply contrasting @Stu_of_Kunming’s suggestion that

“In my opnion They [the Aussies] always planned to drop their offer at the last minute, assuming douchbag would have no choice but to accept, however, we know RD was furious at this and point blank refused”.

with what happened with Fawaz, and suggesting that if Duchatelet was willing to break off further contact with Fawaz apparently for posting a picture of his Valley tour on social media then how to explain his continued contact with the Aussies (as I said in the part of my post you missed out)?:

“Yet he's still involved with the Aussies who you suggest agreed a price and then tried to 'low ball' him with a premeditated price drop at the last minute?

  • So do you think we'll get another statement of sorts this week? LDT is here now, and recently when he arrives something happens.

Oddily that has taken 6 months since price was agreed. I wonder it has taken that long.

    Wigan being sold for £22m...

Be glad when their takeover is done as means the EFL can move on to signing off our paperwork eh LDV!!

If only we had a pier to make us attractive to prospective purchasers, Ferry Approach just ain't the same

    Good point.

But the same argument has been with us for 18 months and with the same (solid) logic. Since this thread started he has lost an ADDITIONAL £15,000,000. Has any of that sped up the sale? No. Has it lowered his price? Apparently... no. So why after all this time do many think it is somehow going to make him see reality now?

I have just long ago given up that he will sell soon or at the right price because of things you and I would find logical. And the reason I believe this is because..... here we are!
There is much to be said for the above from @NapaAddick. Having, in relatively recent statements accepted that he was in the wrong business (of football) because 'normal' business rules largely do not operate in football as they would in the wider business world, Duchatelet nevertheless still doggedly adheres presumably to the type of business principles which created his wealth in the first place where everything has a recognisable value.
In his mind he may well believe for example that The Valley has a potential asset value for development (which should be a consideration in the saleprice) even though we know that planning regulations and other restrictions would prevent that from being realised. Even if that is not the case he still clearly expects someone with the requisite funding to meet his high expectation plus, and maybe someone ITK can answer this - is the 1m a month loss really accruing to Duchatelet or is he simply adding it to the 'loan'?

That's taken an age to go through as well. It was first mentioned LAST October

Wigan Athletic could be under new ownership by the end of the year after Hong Kong-based investors agreed a takeover deal worth in excess of £20m.

Both. Staprix (RD owns them) are lending Charlton the money each month.
So yes it's adding to the loan, but yes the loan/loss is accruing to RD unless a buyer repays the total, which they won't.

A fair amount of the purchase price was in nectar points (same as Charlton) and the delays have been caused due to recent fraudulent activity.

    US bidders then.

    Thanks for the heads up
  • Why is no one ITK anymore? Or is there literally nothing to know?

Surely @Redhenry has a nugget of info?
  • Anyone? Anything?
  • We've made history under Duchatelet by achieving our biggest margin of victory ever.

No need to sell now, everything's rosy.

Perhaps all of the ITK have been scared off by all the abuse they get when they give us some information that some do not like
Or perhaps in reality they knew very little?

The summaries on the this thread were so good there was no need for anything else to be said.
