M & A = mergers and acquisitions so I think what Offit is trying to say is that Palace are merging with Charlton and we will become their reserve team.
Who knew there were so many people on Charlton Life with such extensive M&A experience?
It's a real eye opener reading that the only thing in a sale and purchase agreement is the price, and that its always a fixed price with no conditions, etc whatsoever (on either side). And that there's only ever one version of an agreement and once it gets written into black and white it's somehow set in stone.
It's an eye opener because if people can talk such bollocks about this one thing then I can only assume that they are talking bollocks about everything else as well.
But don't let me stop you ......
Perhaps that's fair comment, but at least two important sources on this story have vastly more relevant professional business takeover experience and knowledge than anyone posting on here (as far as I am aware) - or indeed Duchatelet, LDT and Murray. It's not a lack of process knowledge that has been behind the numerous false dawns and the professionals have been as bemused as anyone else.

What’s M & A? (Shows how much I know lol)
Mergers & Aquisitions
Yes actually I remembered that not longer after I posted it.

Is there another fans meeting with LDT in February? I vaguely remember the 9th. If so, can whomever is attending ask him WTF is going on and **** NDAs etc.
One of the worst weeks ever as a Charlton supporter. Please sell so we can all move on.
Believe me as shit as the last week has been. We've had so many worse, I feel it just Par for the course of being a Cafc fan.
100% need owners that care even if only moderately wealthy. This impassé is impacting on every facet of this club. Even though some supportiers on CL don't think Duchatelet is being spiteful to fans by recent inactivity but Schadenfreude must exist in the mind of RD because if it was just money why would he buy a middle size London club that by his inept ownership is now a small London club in the first place ?

I’d be surprised on the experience point, fairly sure there are several +20 year experienced M&A professionals post on here.
As to knowledge of the ongoing Charlton sale process, I hope someone has some information of it, seems fairly scarce.

Yes, from past posts I suspect there are a few on here that do have experience of either company M&As, or the sales of assets with values in the tens / hundreds of millions, the general and specific terms of sales & purchase agreements including various ways a deal might be priced, how a due diligence process works, employee workplace rights etc etc. I myself was involved in a lot of those things in 40+ years in the oil and gas industry.
In the scheme of things the sale of a football club is NOT rocket science as evidenced by the fact that such deals are completed several times a year in the UK. So no wonder if both professionals and those without that experience are somewhat bemused as to EXACTLY why this particular club is taking so long to be sold. But in the absence of clear communication (referencing an NDA is a wonderful get out of jail card!), we can all take an educated guess.

Sorry sam, but are you now suggesting he bought Charlton, to deliberately diminish the standing of the club, in order derive pleasure from the misery of Charlton fans ?

Well OK, I don't think that was his intention in the first place, but he also doesn't seem concerned with deriving anything from the happiness of Charlton fans either. I think it is because he doesn't get what will make Charlton fans supporting a sporting institution happy. He vaguely talks about mingling with each other at games, there is the concept of fun schemes, discos in bars, sofa or whatnot, but he does not seem concerned with the main course, why people go to watch their football team play matches. Has is ever struck anybody why back in the day Katrien felt it necessary to inform us that Roland watches our games streamed back to him (which turns out to not be true I believe)? He doesn't come to games, doesn't watch games, and doesn't appear to want to follow the narrative of a football season as it unfolds. He thinks about other stuff and neither cares about our happiness or our misery, both of which would be random accidental occurrences. Katrien also informed us that he is the owner, and we fans have to accept whatever he does. Which is palpably true. The thing is how many fans will continue to accept it? We look like we're dying, not with a bang but a grey, drifting, dismal, quiet whimper. Maybe an apt example regarding the culture of the institution is the crumbling disappearance of the memorial garden at Sparrows Lane.
Duchatelet reportedly paid £20m for us. That was in a higher division than we find ourselves now. Something is not right with the price he is asking for us given all the damage he has done. He may not have done it on purpose, but his incompetence was the reason.

Maybe he really is a mad old plum and he enjoys our suffering. He has put us up for sale but has no intention of selling us.
Obviously that is a pile of poo, he is just living on cloud cuckoo land.

Schadenfreude "now." a 3 letter word I left out but it made all the difference, but well done for your attempt at ridicule. No not 5 years ago when he bought Charlton on the cheap, at that time he still thought he had a great way to run football clubs with the network system. He was wrong.
The revenge of Roland Duchatelet is unfolding before our eyes. You believe it's just money. I believe it's money plus, he is getting perverse pleasure from this impassé. His right man even admitted that certain things were said to stir up another bidder.
Unless you can get a handle on the relationship between Roland and Katrien Miere: like a close father and daughter relationship you will never understand why I think spite/Perverse pleasure/ or Schadenfreude is NOW involved since she was forced from the club.
Duchatelet's perception is she was forced from the club; before you get your tooth comb out , My view like many others was she was economic with the truth and poor at being a CEO and as usual was at the whim of an owner who pressured her into making rash decisions or carried out his bizarre decisions (Polish Pete instead of Yann)
Most rich business people don't mind losing a few battles along the way as long as they win the financial war and come out on top at the end.
This have become personal with Duchatelet and I'm amazed that all supporters can't see that.

Morning and afternoon
Is he going to buy us?
Morning to you too.
Just seems very unlikely, but then we are dealing with Roland.
@masicat knows...
