  • I take solace from the fact that if this falls flat Roland will be royally pissed off!
  • The EFL are investigating links between Manchester City and the Abu Dhabi consortium which has agreed to buy Charlton.

'East Streets Investments' is confident it has provided evidence that funds are private and unrelated to City owner Sheikh Mansour - and there is no dual-ownership issue.

  • Now to me, Roland's statement is pretty mild compared to what were used to, seems to me he is mindful not to be too bullish to the EFL. As has been stated on here many times now, it will happen when it happens, and we can then be happy that the new owners have the best interests of the club and it's future.
  • Probably wants to treat himself to a nice new pair of shoes...oh wait.
  • Reported by BBC, who have contacted the EFL for comment.

  • Come on EFL.
  • Maybe Roland is getting worried if the EFL dig too deep they may find some other bits and pieces he would rather leave buried, at least until the ESI cheque has cleared.
  • He's been threatening the EFL with this for a while. I would guess this is a toned down version but the fact remains that ESI have been heavily briefing that the ratification is within anticipated timescales, including in the last few days, and that there is nothing to see here. He's just made the opposite point.
But according to that statement there are no anticipated timescales!

”Despite several requests from the club, the EFL have not provided a timeline for their decision.”
Indeed - yet ESI have repeatedly briefed that there are.

  • Didn't someone post a list of EFL rules that said they had to respond within ten days?

I have messaged EFL for clarification and urge others to do same.

  • The maliferous stench of the Belgian rodent lingers in the corridors of the EFL it seems? I would assume that any communication from the Twat Cave will be met by indifference not seen since the... erm, last tirade from Messieur Douchebag!
  • This couldn't be a more crucial time in any club's season, with a cluster of 4 games in a little under 2 weeks. If the worst happens and we lose those games, and the deal still hasn't been rubber stamped in time, ESI could well look at it as buying a League 1 club and offer less dough, or worse pull out completely, and that will be down to the EFL, going by RD and the buyer. I know that may read a bit over dramatic, but I reckon the above is a real possibility. I hope that the EFL haven't Tweeted or shared any posts saying "That's it till 2020"  or some such like as I reckon that'll be it

Sort it out EFL for fuck sake, it's gotta be Monday!
  • I’m sure the EFL are all off out for lunch etc now for Christmas. Still if they could ask the tea boy (not TK) to approve while the big boys are out, that’s fine by me.
  • Do club statements automatically go to the EFL?

I can't see what else can find out about someone, that would take up any more time, with the resources they would have?

Complaining publicly that the regulators are not responding fast enough. That always goes well.  :*
I was thinking the same thing. If they, for example, respond with clearance today or early next week then it could be seen/said that they caved in earlier than was deemed necessary for a complete due diligence process. So more likely to take longer now so as not to be seen as weak.

I don't think an official body like the EFL can act like that, when dealing with time sensitive issues like this, surely

Or take longer and be seen as cynical

We have to deal with the financial regulators the Prudential Regulation Authority and the Funa vial Conduct Authority all the time and unfortunately that’s exactly what they do
  • Roland circus rolls on.
Big game tomorrow. I know Lee says it doesn't effect him, but how can it not!
  • Roland is never one to turn down a freebie. Why do any checks at all on the prospective buyer when the EFL will do it for you?

Southall getting twitchy with the prospect of taking over with no opportunity to strengthen the squad and a relegation battle.
Maybe Roland getting twitchy that Southall might be getting twitchy.
Harry Redknapp might be getting twitchy.

If this takeover doesn’t happen can I have my book back?
Of course, but I’ve read it, and you’ve written in the front for me, so you’ll need some Tipex 😂

    Why is it time sensitive?

Because Duchatelet, who's been supposedly selling the club for two years suddenly wants it done NOW?

Sounds like a few people falling for some spin from Duchatelet that it's all the EFL's fault.

ESI aren't complaining, at least not publicly.

That Charlton want to buy some players shouldn't be a factor for the EFL, that's rightly not their concern.

What exactly have the EFL meant to have done wrong?

Someone was suggesting we ask them why they haven't responded within 10 days when clearly they have.

Incompetent Roland says they won't give a timescale but how long is a piece of string?  He is showing some mighty big chutzpah givin his notoriously bad communication to fans done the years.

I'm not sayi g the EFL is without sin but neither is the Belgian throwing the first stone.
I've only read the bit in bold -

I ain't fallen for anything mate, least of all RD's "spin". As I said above, there's now a quick succession of games and on top of that, a transfer window looming.  Whether we've  tapped up certain players by now or not, if this proccess eats into January there could be good signings going elsewhere. That's why I think its time sensitive

And all because of some beaurocracy that no one can understand and no official reason given.
