Just a thought but could esi have asked for the takeover to be in the new year so Roland is solely responsible for the 2019 accounts in Belgium?
I was thinking last night that the EFL could well have sanctioned the takeover, but the actual exchange between RD and ESI is scheduled for a later date?

Obviously the sooner the better. But with the injury crisis still so bad, we really need to do some good business in the Jan window! Especially if the rumors we might lose Connor are true. Am hopeful we can keep Lyle once the takeover goes through, but if a Premiership team bids for him.....

No. I think we are reading way too much into everything.

I think the explanation is really quite simple. The EFL have asked some questions which have been answered by ESI and/or Roland. Roland is getting pissed off because he is paying bills that he wouldn't have to pay if the takeover was completed. Roland is getting pissed off because he has had enough. The EFL are asking some questions and it's not actually taking that long at all. Roland is ranting. The takeover is fairly close to being completed and will be announced in the next few business days. I suspect it will be the 2nd or 3rd January.

Gallagher isn't going anywhere in January.

I’m convinced it is today. Moved some sausage rolls out of the fridge and put my bottle of real ale in. COYR!
Real ale in a fridge. OMG
Beer down to 11c. Need news NOW!
  • Maybe Roland doesn’t want to pay December salaries. Or have they already been paid by now.
  • I prefer my real ale to be chilled as otherwise it can get too lively when poured (especially bottle conditioned). Outside this time of year tends to be cool enough (especially as the fridge is too full with turkey etc anyway) but no way can it be drunk at room temperatures, especially in a centrally heated house

Ale and red wine should be slightly chilled before drinking, unless it's stored in a cool place. I can't think of anything worse than drinking room temperature ale and wine

Can’t see that being the case if Roland was pushing it the other day via the official site.

So just ESI want Roland accountable for the 2019 Accounts. That would make me quite happy if Roland gets the last tax bill still.

If ESI pushed for a later date between that RD press release and the EFL process

If it's going to cost Roland more this way I'd be concerned as he'd probably lump this onto the asking price, demand ESI pay it or threaten to pull out the deal if they don't.

Wasn't the announcement made between Christmas and New Year 2013 when he bought the club? Would imagine it was done then for the same reasons.
  • Having read the articles about ESi and their friends in the new edition of VoTV I think it might be out of the previous pan and into the fire, keep digging EFL!

Of course he doesn't. He's selling the club so who would want to carry on paying the bills. He's not going to receive extra money if the sales goes through next week as opposed to today so every penny he spends until it's sold is coming out of that. That's why we should be happy with the delay, it's one final annoyance to that prick.

But I don't think this delay is anything other than normal formalities. Enjoy your Christmas and it will be done soon

So what’s the big takeaways then?
  • I’m surprised this thread hasn’t gone into overdrive. That Insta post by HE is the clearest sign yet that everything is done and dusted and the takeover will finally be announced tomorrow.

I’m off to put some champagne in the fridge.
I might put my Tingle on ice......

Plenty about Southall and Lee Amis.

Not much at all about Nimer

And there was me thinking that Douchebag was spiteful !
I just want Duchatelet to be History and Charlton to have owners who can afford to pay wages consummate with Championship players who don't have disabled stickers on their cars before they join us.
I personally couldn't do another stint in League 1 and if some of our fans enjoy this impasse then I'm the polar opposite.
It's hard enough getting decent players in the January window without  this delay.

If there’s the sort of money floating around that we think there should be with this lot, then there’s not too many players we’d want that we couldn’t get.
just a case of what’s needed to stay up and go heavy in the summer.

Personally, I’d get rid of Kayal and Hemed. Waste of money on wages.
bring Leko back perm if he looks like he could have an impact, but possibly wait for the summer with him.
Get a loan striker and Central Defender.
Pearce and Sarr are struggling as we can all see.

easy to keep shouting what we need but they’re the big positions for me if the central midfield are on their way back.

If you're still on about the billions, I think you're going to be upset. Nimer is worth several hundreds of millions. I'll settle for around 500 million I guess. We'd still be competitive in this league with that money.

IMO, the money will go into whichever year is more beneficial for Ducktape's tax arrangements by using accrual mechanisms or whatever. If the deal was signed in 2019 then it could easily go in the 2019 accounts even if the money is not actually handed over until December 2020 (or in instalments).

Still confident the Sheikh is involved... If Nimer is worth 500mill he's not going to spend over a tenth of his wealth, and that's before we talk running costs and signings, on buying a second division football club 7,000km from his home.

Exactly this. Doesn’t matter how much money you are worth unless you spend it wisely.

Spend more or spend more wisely?
According to Bowyer, our boys struggled with access to a good surface to play/train on.
Yet the the rugby club have beautiful pitches just over the back, once again I would question Rolands priorities and I don't believe they were the Charlton Athletic football club. ;)
