True, but as they indicated, Fulham comes the closest. Much as I admire and respect Fulham, I cannot see that it is close to Charlton as a project for expansion and improvement. Fulham has Chelsea only a mile away, plus QPR, Brentford and Wimbledon also in their catchment area. We only have Millwall, whose reputation will forever limit the number of new fans they can attract, especially overseas.GlassHalfFull said:
These guys have clearly understood that CAFC is a very special club, one of a kind.
The 2001 UK Census recorded 107,871 Australian-born people. In that census, the highest concentration of Australians in the UK was recorded in south-west London, with sizeable communities in Earl's Court, Kensington, Hammersmith, Fulham, Shepherds Bush and Putney.2 -
Fulham is slap bang in the middle of the Aussie catchment area in London.0
-
I'm sure Fulham fans are the most well off of all the London clubs too, which much have a certain attraction2

Explains why Meire was targetting that area as potential forbobmunro said:

I'm going to celebrate by having a barbecue in my pants and vest before getting eaten by a shark. The Red Robin said:Great stuff, thanks @JamesSeed. All positive. Best get ourselves down the local Walkabout.

straight swap - Powell comes home, Bowyer goes home (East End and Essex basically the same place), everyone's happy.JoshrewCAFC said:Interesting comment about Powell, don't think he'd leave Southend, he's a legend there and tbh I'd lose respect for him if he left for us now.

Great news James, off now for a celebratory wank ,... Back in about 1 minute.4

Disappointed that vital pieces of information are missing @JamesSeed .
Not a word about their exit strategy. Surprised @Henry Irving isn't in apoplexy over this.
Very remiss.9 -
@JamesSeed
Only just read your earlier post. If what you say is true, the nightmare must nearly be over.
And if Powell comes home as well, then I really will believe in miracles.

Not so bothered whether Powell comes back or not, just happy that they'll pick a manager for the right reason, and not just because he's Australian7
-
Took longer than I thought, .... Couldn't find a spare sock!4

Not really. It’s known that this is a consortium and the Andrew Muir isn’t the only money behind the bid.nth london addick said:

The deal is almost done, but still needs signing off by a couple of the investors. I didn’t get the impression that that is likely to be an issue, but who knows. They clearly believe they’ll own the club within a short space of time, possibly even next week.
I’ll ask for more info when I get the chance.24 -
They're trying to find people with enough money to buy and run a football club.nth london addick said:

Other than that minor hitch it's all in place and the takeover is imminently done.6 -
New yellow and green away kit next season?4
-
No, they already have investors with enough money.RodneyCharltonTrotta said:

I simply want the moment to arrive when I feel I can buy our season tickets again.
Before the start of next season is my preference.3 -
I am no expert on Belgian law, but the idea you need a licence to do politics smells a bit fishy to me.
Having been over there twice, I have little doubt that Roland is akin to the local 'squire', with all that implies with regard to local influence.
I hope the police encounter was recorded in some way, with paperwork from the Belgian authorities.11 - Sponsored links:

Great info, thanks @JamesSeed I feel much more relaxed after reading your blog entry. I did have reservations about this group and some of the stories we've been hearing recently about them not having enough to buy the entire club, Roly wanting to hold on to certain parts of it, appointing Kewell, the whole player farm etc. I've got everything crossed that this goes through as soon as possible and these guys turn out to be the real deal.2
-
@JamesSeed thanks for the info - just wondering if they have considered approaching Curbs in some kind of advisory/DoF role?7
-
Good thing is that if it all goes wrong we can all blame @JamesSeed17

Was just thinking this. If a sale doesn't happen in the next few weeks the usual protest crowd outside the West Stand will have surrounded his house calling for his head. And there would be no heavy-handed security to stop us this timeHenry Irving said:Good thing is that if it all goes wrong we can all blame @JamesSeed

Just a question really. Why is Roland still pushing the line that there are still two groups in the running ? Surely he would know and what purpose to lie about it ?1
-
I have no idea and this really surprised me. Maybe it’s because there are still two people in the running until everything is absolutely final and money has been paid for the frontrunner.
Interesting that Duchâtelet thinks Murray is a ‘super guy’.0 -
Not really surprising when he's only there to add a yes Roland no Roland three bags full Roland.Alwaysneil said:I have no idea and this really surprised me. Maybe it’s because there are still two people in the running until everything is absolutely final and money has been paid for the frontrunner.

I'm almost as excited for Murray to be out of our club as Roland! RM has really let himself down in recent years, a real shame.11
