If you offered Costa 700k a week to play for Welling he'd go. If someone like Reeves was offered 6k pw to play for say Reading with real PL ambitions but chose to sign for us with no real ambition at all in League One for 8k pw would that not disappoint you? Yes i've read Airman Brown's excellent article about our car crash of a transfer policy and yes I do see the point you make about our chances of assembling a team to win promotion as slim but as others have said money isn't the only factor that determines where a player signs, I do wonder if as fans we read too much into the off field stuff with the players, after all they're based at Sparrows Lane where they're not exactly facing protests head on each day. Not to say that it doesn't get taken into consideration but I can still see Reeves signing for us if he wants to stay south than sign for someone like Burton.
And not digging you out but if Reeves isn't your kind of signing, what sort of players should we be targetting instead?1 -
