Just ran Chelmsford parkrun for the first time since lockdown... First run of any sort for months. 29.32 think I'll take that! Really busy at the start due to Essex pride in the usual start place but dog tbid have run mich faster. Hopefully get back into it now, I feel great!
I went again today, tried a different one for a change and took 5-minutes off my record worst time of last week, still 6-minutes off my previous best but it felt positive. Maybe I’ll just become a PR Tourist as there is a fair few near me….
was meant to be running TheBigHalf today, with last years event twice rearranged. Try as I might, having been ill earlier in the year I just haven’t get the distance in my legs at the mo so have had to let it go. Really depressed me as have had a half down as a potential target for a couple of years.
Reluctantly accepting I probably peaked in fitness 2-3 years ago and not sure with various ailments I’ll ever get back to matching that again
6 weeks to go until the London Marathon and my long runs are up to 18 miles now. Really, really struggled with 16 miles last weekend so was apprehensive this morning but took it a bit slower and got through. The fact it's a bit cooler today helps a lot.
I definitely underestimated the challenge - after about 2 hours of running my legs start to feel like they'll fall off any second.

I did it this morning @AFKABartram and it was a really enjoyable event. A shame you wasn't able to do it in the end. They reckon there was around 13k participants overall and it was very well organised. Crowds obviously nothing like the London Marathon but they still give you such a lift on the way round. Not got my official time yet but Strava tells me my half time was 1:50:10 which was much better than I expected given it was really a training run for the Marathon in 6 weeks.
Just signed up for a half marathon at knebworth house on 7th November, I have 10 weeks to double my furthest run... from 10k-21k. This time I'm running for 'Autism Initiatives'.
I saw Clapham had cancelled as well. But today, as I’m on an exotic holiday to Suffolk, I gave this bad boy a try…
Unfortunately my finish time has proven that Super Powers cannot be gained just by proximity to Nuclear reactors, I’m maybe starting to doubt some of those Marvel movies now…
For the first time ever I'm struggling with a foot injury. Had various degrees of pain develop in my forefoot that can come on during or after a run (or even decent walk). The pain seems located where the metatarsal meets just one toe rather than across the whole forefoot. Been happening for a good 8-10 weeks now.
I'm generally biomechanically pretty good and still have good form, just not the times to go with it these days sadly. Not done anything new, my trainers are fine and it can vary in intensity for no apparent reason. I've tried different terrain, length of run, speeds, etc. and just rest, but I haven't been able to narrow down what causes it to flare up on some occasions yet not so much on others.
Before I resort to trying to get in to see the doc' has anyone any experience with metatarsalgia, as Dr Google seems to refer to it as? Did it just clear up after prolonged rest? I'm considering trying some additional insoles for protection, so any recommendations welcome too.

I’ve had a similar injury, I had an inflamed joint between my second toe and metatarsal. I rested for a couple of weeks then tried to use C25K to get back to running but it was always still niggling. I got hospitalised with COVID, so was laid up in bed for a week and that has totally fixed it. So I think rest is the best cure.
38 minutes today, 3 minutes quicker than last time and only walked once, no official times for my parkruns today as not enough volunteers so they scrapped the timers and everyone got 59.59.
7km super muddy trail race here in the Canadian Rockies, for the first time in a long time I hit the wall mentally & physically about 20 minutes in. Legs felt like lead, after about 15 minutes of this i suddenly felt rejuvenated & finished strongly. Most of the field wouldn't have known the course, but i know it back to front - it was brutal in places and i think it psyched me out knowing what was ahead - ignorance is bliss i guess.
Saw that the Brighton marathon organisers cocked up the measurements for the course. Ended up being 568 metres longer than it should have been. Evil bastards!
Anyone got any recommendations for good off road running shoes? And a related question, which is, if you wear shoes that are ‘stability’ does that exist off road? Or is the concept of off road mean they give you that stability?
Overtaken by television personality Ben Shepherd today (plus the usual dog walkers and buggy pushers), still I’m just proud of myself for getting up in time to not miss the start (although that was touch & go)….we go again…..
Mrs Hex and me did the Lancing Beach parkrun this morning followed by breakfast in the Perch cafe. A great location; parking beside the start & finish line, 1k on grass, the rest on the promenade path, then an excellent eating place on the beach. 222 parkrun runners today.

I really rate Inov 8 mudclaw. Use them for trail runs all year but come winter cross countries they come into their own. Wore normal trail shoes in a few cross countries a couple of years ago and was like bambi on ice in the mud.
Invested in a pair of these and gave me so much stability and cant rate them high enough. Pricey but a good investment and very durable.

I'd recommend ditching your orthotics altogether and going minimalist Rothko. Build your foot strength up rather than treating the symptoms 🙂

First official 10k completed today, 10 mins quicker than my training PB.. pretty chuffed with that time.
Well done @shine166 great effort. I managed a 10k last month but it’s been my only one this year
I definitely underestimated the challenge - after about 2 hours of running my legs start to feel like they'll fall off any second.
Still a little bit to go until I hit my fundraising target for CACT so if anyone fancies donating please do http://virginmoneygiving.com/benlinden

Not sure where it came from, ended up in a good group of four for pacing I think.
Good to see @Daddy_Pig!

Decided to run/walk with Grandad Pig today. You flew past us when you lapped us 🤣
Pleased there's one there now, I always thought that it would be a great venue for Parkrun.

Finally if you do get a pair I'd also recommend the boot buddy cleaner as gets them and muddy football boots spotless
