Curran looks to have a bit about him, if not the outrageous talent of his brother

A bit of luck too, as Cummins drops a sitter off Lyon!

Hazlewood drops an even bigger sitter off Cummins. Moeen survives. Head back on pal

A worldy catch by Smith followed by Panesar/Tufnell levels of fielding!

    Decent little partnership.

288-6 after 100 overs and the drinks break.

    Ali 25*
    Curran 22*

"sweaty" coming in peace, what do the numbers on the English shirts represent?

Amazing that such things happen at Test level, especially the Hazlewood one. He looked like he closed his eyes for a dare and tried to guess where the ball was.

It's a sweepstake on England's first innings total. They're always over-optimistic these lads.

Sorry @addickson. The real answer is the individual player's number in the all time list of England test players, ordered by their debut match. Alastair Cook is 630 and the debutant Mason Crane will appear soon with 683.

Average score for a first innings in Sydney is 313 I believe but probably higher in recent years.

Any runs from here are a bonus, I would say. 350 would be excellent, 384 would be outrageous and win @Leuth the sweepstake

Nobody picked a score between 322 and 366! It'll be 344 now obv haha

    Great entertainment here.

350 is the recent par score

Runs coming at a quick rate as Broad smacks the short pitched bowling around!

Curran gone to a Cummins short ball for 39.

Wondered why the Aussies were having so much trouble putting away the 60th England XI
Is this a new fad, or have England always worn test numbers?
As a wee boy watching 50-over cricket on a Sunday afternoon, Derek Underwood was one of my first sporting heroes, but cricket was never played at school and I never pursued what would have been a pretty niche interest up here.
Will have to try and get to an early season game at The Valley so that I can take in a cricket match too

I think it's a fairly new thing but couldn't say when these numbers first appeared.

Deadly Derek was also one of my first heroes. In fact, most of my childhood heroes were called Derek. I hadn't realised before but it's clearly a big modern-day problem - too few Dereks.

Looks like a disaster run out from 10 & 11 there.

    346 all out.
  • Crane run out, all out for 346

Cheers @AshBurton - that deserves a LOL as well as a Like.
Anyway, every time I post on here England lose a wicket(s) so I guess my work on here is done
