Amazing that such things happen at Test level, especially the Hazlewood one. He looked like he closed his eyes for a dare and tried to guess where the ball was.
Sorry @addickson. The real answer is the individual player's number in the all time list of England test players, ordered by their debut match. Alastair Cook is 630 and the debutant Mason Crane will appear soon with 683.

Cheers @AshBurton Wondered why the Aussies were having so much trouble putting away the 60th England XI Is this a new fad, or have England always worn test numbers? As a wee boy watching 50-over cricket on a Sunday afternoon, Derek Underwood was one of my first sporting heroes, but cricket was never played at school and I never pursued what would have been a pretty niche interest up here. Will have to try and get to an early season game at The Valley so that I can take in a cricket match too

I think it's a fairly new thing but couldn't say when these numbers first appeared.
Deadly Derek was also one of my first heroes. In fact, most of my childhood heroes were called Derek. I hadn't realised before but it's clearly a big modern-day problem - too few Dereks.

Cheers @AshBurton - that deserves a LOL as well as a Like. Anyway, every time I post on here England lose a wicket(s) so I guess my work on here is done
