  • As Ashes warm-up games usually go, a pretty decent performance. Good to see.

  • In cricket news (of sorts) Monty Panesar... will be competing in the next series of Dancing on Ice. If he shows the same "grace" he displayed when fielding, it could be "interesting"

  • Any news on Stokes ? Looks like its down to the police to finish their investigations before the ECB will decide if he can play...............do the police know The Ashes start in just over 2 weeks ? Someone put a rocket up their arses & get it sorted in double time.

It would be annoying if the Police drag it out until February then drop the case, as there was a perfectly justifiable explanation for Stokes' behaviour...

  • Stokes won’t play any part in The Ashes.

Pick your all time Ashes 11, being a cricket history nerd went for a fair number of old timers. Found the batting particularly tricky.

    Hutton
    Sutcliffe (over Hobbs just)
    Bradman (no brainer)
    Hammond
    S. Waugh
    Botham
    Gillie
    Warne
Barnes(reminds me of Killer in a cap)
    Mc Grath
    Lillee

  • Gutted for Finn, horrible injury
  • Gutted for Finn, horrible injury

Very sad for Finn, thought he might get some good bounce out of the Aussie wickets and trouble their top order.

I really dislike the BBC when they do things like this, pick your best whatever from THEIR suggestions. Just like with SPOTY.
Here is my best Ashes XI based on what I have seen in my lifetime. It's based on entertainment not stats!

    Gooch
    Hayden
    Gower
    Chappell G
    Hughes K
    Botham
    Knott
    Warne
    Lillee
    Underwood
    Thomson

Totally agree its ridiculous not to have every player available to pick, i can't pick players like Bradman, Lillee, Thompson etc. because I've never seen them play

    and Porter...
  • Broad and Anderson are remarkably resistant to injury. Guess they just have naturally strong bowling actions

Well we know who they have to blame if something does happen to them now...............but true nevertheless.

Jimmy is just a natural athlete, and Broads action doesn't place a lot of strain on his back.
  • Is Finn being injured such a bad thing? ( obviously it is for him)

To me, Finn has been lacking in zip for years, he's not the player he was
Since they started tampering with his action/run up to try to cure his clipping the stumps with his hand.

Think it was his knee that kept hitting the stumps - that might be the cause of his long term injury!

Of course, thanks AA - cure his hitting the stumps with his knee not hand.
