What's all this Home 2019/20 lark? Our home series are in one year. Away are split over two.
    Erm its home and away?

Anyway, who are we playing at home 2018? I fancy some tickets
    ERRRRRRMMMMMMM!!!!! NO!
    We play at HOME 2019
    We play AWAY 2019/20

The legend is incorrectly laid out. It's our game, we invented it.

Already got 2 tickets for 1st Day at Lords for both Tests 2018
Is that the 2017/18 season or the 2018/19 season?

    Not even funny.

Get a Wisden out of the library and try and find Botham's Ashes feats in the series 1980/81 or 1981/82.

Joe Root wins his third toss in a row and elects to bat first. No brainer. The pitch according to all the experts should be very, very good. It must be remembered that we DO NOT have to win here. A draw keeps the series alive and so if we can score big, 600+ then we can go to the G still holding the Ashes.
  • We're batting first on a flat deck. We have to bloody win
  • I will spend this entire Test in Viewfinder mode, apparently
  • Have to have a good first day here. No more than four or five wickets down.
  • I'd take 350-8 tbh. Set about 'em. Bat positively.

Stoneman puts Hazelwood for four through the bloody covers. Isn't it about time someone did that to one of these bowlers? Glenn McGrath turns 48 next year.

Mitchell Starc bowls full-tosses and half-volleys. Thirteen off the over. It's that bloody simple, so why aren't more of our batsmen doing it?
  • Stoneman has 16 off 10. Proud of himself? Marcus Trescothick would have at least 30 off this bowling

  • To break out of character for a second, I really am shivering at the thought of David Warner batting first on this
  • Love the way Stoneman bats. Watch him get out for 20-40 again.

Taken from Reddit... for the Aussie coverage but still amusing.

  • Doddery, useless stuff from Cook. Who's next off the rank though?
  • Cook gone for 7.

    26-1
  • That's roughly how I'd have played that ball. And I'm a right-handed 4th XI club cricketer
  • Cook being useless and a few unconvincingly-played short balls aside, we've smoked 'em all around the park so far. Please continue doing so

Hmm interesting session. Cook looks out of form and gone early...

Vince and Stoneman look promising and start to build a partnership and then one of them plays a nothing shot and gets out less than a dozen balls before lunch. Typical England.

    91-2, 27 overs

    Stoneman 48*
    Root 1*

Currently in the world's slowest beer queuemail.

    C'mon England!

Edit: photo uploaded, as good as Aussie humour gets...

  • Didn't realise that this will be the last Ashes test at the WACA as they're building a new modern stadium for cricket, Aussie rules and concerts...
  • I had tickets for this, 5 days of sunshine, beers, walks to the beach from my house after the days play, but instead I’m lying in bed at 5am waiting for the central heating to kick in so I can get up and make a cuppa!
I hope my family appreciates the sacrifice I’ve made!
  • @Friend Or Defoe Get yourself down to the pub on Adelaide terrace, Carlton hotel, it’s a five minute walk from the ground through the gardens.

This test was meant to be played at the new stadium, but they didn’t get it completed on time.

  • Need a hundred from at least one of the two batsmen currently in and a good 100 to 150 partnership from them. Part way through our 5th innings and no big scores or big partnerships yet. Need to get ahead of the game for once instead of constantly looking like we might and then chucking a wicket or two away.
  • Stoneman dropped with England on 111.
  • Stoneman living a charmed life that last over. Dropped arguably twice, hit on the helmet and played and missed once.
  • Root gone now. Another one gets a start and gets out. All fairly shit wickets to give away. Fucking England. I’m going to bed.
  • F^*k you sky sports for not getting the coverage! I’m not used to not watching the ashes.
