If his still here after the elections that would mean 2 and half years of protests. Would that then mean a waste of time.
Ultimately, whatever the outcome everyone will judge their own particular use of time. Some may feel they've wasted theirs, others may not. For me though the demonstrations have been by far and away the most rewarding aspect of being a Charlton fan in the Duchatelet era. The spirit, determination and creativity of those who who've fought regime has been fantastic. I personally feel proud of my own small contribution and inspired by some of the great things others have done. The black and white campaign, the mass demos behind the west stand, Meire's comedy sacking, the 2Percent record, the trips the Belgium, the taxi, the fans shirt, beach balls, balloons and piggies, that video of Two Shats being given the petition and now our own political party. All these and more have brought me great joy. Compare that to some of the soul sapping experiences I've had watching makeshift teams from Duchatelet's Travelling Circus playing aimless football with precious little skill, passion or will to win. I know what I consider to be a greater waste of my time.
Of course the ultimate goal is to get him out and everyday that the bad smell lingers is one of disappointment. There's no way though, that I'm going to set some artificial deadline to judge the use of my time. It might not happen today or the next day, but every day that passes is one day nearer to the one when we become free of the regime. Holocaust survivor, Viktor Frankl once said, "Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of human freedoms - to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way". Frankl's struggles were obviously far more desperate and significant than ours, but that determination to maintain a positive attitude in the face of adversity pulled him and many others through. I'll take Frankl s an inspiration to keep going in what seem like desperate circumstances. Just as I take the Charlton fan's creativity as inspiration that there's always something else that we can do. There's always a next thing to try and drive our monster away. I'm not prepared to concede that my time has been wasted, and I'm not ready to give up the fight. I hope that ROT is not necessary. If it is, then I hope it is successful. If it isn't successful, then I'll look to some other idea. He has to go and I'm not giving in.

Thanks for that great post Stig.
Let's face it, each time there is a new hint of a takeover there's a great swell of hope only to be dashed when it doesn't happen. Each time my hope is raised I feel an extra kick in the stomach when nothing happens. Doing nothing about it makes me feel worse. I'm not alone in feeling this way. Now something is happening again - not more bloody rumours about rumours but something concrete we can focus on. Time to get behind ROT.

Better to seek alternatives than do nothing in apathy

On 9th August 2017, in preparation for the formation of the Roland Out Today Party, two members of ROT spent about twenty minutes talking with Roland Duchâtelet about the protests, the fans, Yann Kermorgant, Chris Powell, Peter Varney, and the likely sale of the club.
RD: – And I didn't give in. But the other thing you have to know about me also, I do not, I do not blame other people er or anything else, because I er it's not my culture to spit on anybody else or whatever, so I'm just not going to get into that kind of thing, ok that’s what er, and er we at that moment in time it was full of fair players from Standard Liege, and ok we maintained the, the, we kept up in the League and it was not that bad.
Apart from 10 seconds ago, where I just blamed Yann Kermorgant and called him a blackmailer. Other than that I would never blame someone else.
Worth saying that the Valley Party wasn't about getting voted in either. We quite deliberately didn't say anything about any other local issue. Even if we had only got 5,000 votes that would probably have been enough. Had we pushed harder and got Kevin Fox over the finishing line at the expense of Council leader Quentin Marsh, we would of course have celebrated all night. And then we would have panicked! :-)

Looking back to the 2014 local election in Belgium I think (?) if ROT got the same proportion of the vote as the Valley Party (10%?) then they would get a seat. Happy days!

Here is the second in a series of excerpts, taken from the transcript of that discussion:
RD: - There have been not that many, but there have been a few people really interested to take over the club
ROT 2: - Are these Australians, possibly?
RD: - But there again, in fact the Australians is also a question mark whether that is er, something serious or not er, you know what I mean? You don’t need, you do really need money to have a football club in England for sure
ROT 2: - Yeah
RD: - It’s not like erm, it’s not comparable to say ten years ago or twenty years ago
ROT 2: - No, I think we realise that, you look at the Championship now, it’s a very strong division
ROT 1: - These negotiations you may have had with the Australians, there was some suggestion that you wanted to sell the club but keep ownership of the Valley
RD: - Yeah well it depends on the money, yeah no that’s the big problem, if they don’t have enough money then it’s a problem anyway
ROT 2: - Yeah
RD: - You need to…
ROT 1: - Figures reported are around 50-60 million pounds
RD: - But depending on what you want to do huh, it’s er…
ROT 1: - And is that a realistic number?
RD: - No, no, no but I’m not…
ROT 1: - Because you, you, again it’s reported that you paid in the region or 15 million pounds for the club
RD: - No, I’m not going to comment on that…
ROT 1: - In the region, in the region? But the club has been downgraded, in a lower division, and yet you want to sell for 50-60 million. That doesn’t seem realistic
RD: - Arr, that’s your opinion
ROT 2: - No
RD: - Er, my point of view is that er, I think that we have er….. I…. this kind of thing I don’t want to comment on basically because I think that we, I’m thinking about business huh, I’ve got experience in business, I know what I’m talking about, I know how you have to put a valuation on something
ROT 2: - Is football the same type of business as your experience?
RD: - Er, well I’ve, basically Charlton is not the only club I’m involved in
ROT 2: - Er yeah, we know that yeah
RD: - I’ve acquired a club and I’ve sold a club in the past and no (?) acquiring clubs in football and selling clubs in football, so I’m quite well positioned in doing and that’s not the issue. The thing is that basically to own a club like Charlton, the main thing is not the money you pay to acquire that club huh, the main thing is to have the ability to be able invest maybe 10 or 20 million huh, which you need
ROT 2: - Yeah
RD: - To go where you want to go huh, and 10 is on the low side
ROT 1: - Yeah
RD: - If people come up and they say well I have 5 million and I want to buy a club (?) If you look at other clubs in the Championsip and what money they’ve spent er per year, and what losses they make, you know what I’m talking about. OK?
Next Wednesday, excerpt three will tell Duchâtelet's opinion of Charlton fans, and how he blames them for our relegation in 2016.
I hope ROT are pushing for extra taxes on those who convert historic farmhouses into luxury hotels where the rich and famous of Belgium can plot more tax evasion and avoidance. Will be a real vote winner.
From the horse's mouth; Duchâtelet clearly indicates that if he can't find a mug willing to pay his asking price, he's prepared to strike a deal where he retains the Valley.
I do think we should shoulder some blame. Given our terrific record on protest days compared to our pitiful record on others, I think we should have protested much more. Maybe that is what ROT will reveal next week.
Well, I have NO idea who was interviewing Roland from the ROT party but to get as close as he/she did and to elicit some half decent responses ( regardless of what we might think of them) was a feckin good job !
Well done to all concerned on behalf of all true Addicks.

Would that then mean a waste of time.

Tax rate on Melexis 2016 profits 14.9%
Suggests another policy for ROT - RD not good for Belgium, not good for Sint Truden, not good for Charlton!
I knew it would be my fault somehow that Charlton can't defend, score goals or scout players properly. What was I thinking?!?!
That was you was it? I'm the one that appointed Fraeye and chose our signings!
I'm the one that was treating the injured players with leeches. Sorry guys.
Not good!
