He's not up to the task. But we simply have no chance of getting anyone better while Duchatalet is running things. Keep KR, see if he can work his magic, and if not he goes when the decks are swept clean.
The owner may be the problem but KR's certainly not helping much.....
I just wanna see Robinson with a full squad and strikers to choose from. If it doesn't work we can take it from there.
Wind back to June 1st then. Transfer window opened & he had TWO months to assemble the squad he wanted. He has been quoted (and I was at the Bromley meeting to hear it first hand) that he was given carte blanch to sign the players he wanted (within reason of course). This squad is his squad. He let Watt, Ajose & Vetokele go & then didn't sop Novak leaving on deadline day with no suitable replacement. It was his choice to bring in Marshall, Fosu, Reeves & Clarke - all midfielders & didn't sign ONE striker. We already had Holmes, JKC, Kashi & Aribo in midfield & only Magennis & Novak upfront at the start of the season.
And you want him to have another go ?????
I wait to see to unveiling of any signings this month, but I bet their will be more wide / midfield players than out & out strikers.
I know it's all reactive, but do question many of you. Sack a manager every few months sadly seems to be an accepted game :-(
8 League games without a win and that first half was dog turd. It was Gillingham not Chelsea!!
Not disputing any of that mate, it's been awful. But two months ago the vast majority thought it was great and news companies were lining up to do 'on the up' features.
Since then there has been an absolute horror show of an injury list, and it doesn't take a detective to work out things are clearly unstable behind the scenes, very similar in that sense to the couple of months ahead of Duchatelet coming. Powell wasn't a bad manager then and Robinson isn't now.
We just need to ride out this shite spell. Three of our back four (and a lot of seniority with that) was missing again today and we ended up gifting them a lead through shocking defending. Magennis is going through a shocker of a spell. Reeves and Marshall have badly not hit expectations and out PoTY so far has been out for the whole period.
Personally I'm fed up with football now not giving any time to ride out bad spells. People bleat on about disloyalty of players but it's become the norm now for football fans to default want the manager sacked as soon a bad run comes along.
From the way the team played at Wigan, and rallied to the end today, that's not a manager who has lost the dressing room imo.
It's all irrelevant. The longer the rat still owns our club, the safer Robinson is.
He is under massive pressure now - another two or three bad results and his position will be untenable.
He can be a bit grating at times with his comments "The fans have got their club back" (after the first game of the season!) but I think his heart is generally in the right place and he clearly really does care about the club.
However, football is about results, nothing more or nothing less, and he has not been getting them with one win, four draws and five defeats in the last 10 games - that is bottom of the table form right there.
You have got to manage what you have and if we have to change the tactics to grind out two wins and two draws to right the ship then that's what he needs to do - at the moment we are drifting and that can't continue.
The squad is very thin, but is there an argument that Robinson, by over-playing players returning from injury, is actually doing more harm than good?
I'm firmly in the "no point sacking him as we won't get anyone better" camp but I wonder if Robinson needs some help from a Director of Football type character, he's a relatively young manager who has surrounded himself with novices on the coaching team, a little experience and nous could help him immensely.

I don't get the mantra that is trotted out, that we won't get anyone better. We haven't won in eight games. Yes we have had and are having terrible injury problems, but something needs to change. We need to grind out a result, stay solid and ditch the current tippy tappy football. Curbs used to call it getting back to basics. The two goals we gave away yesterday were soft.
I am not so firmly in the give him a chance with support camp, but I am still in it. Some managers when backed can build strong teams, and I think he might be one of those. But his persistance - especially at home - with tactics that have been well and truly sussed out by opponents - and for the most part, limited opponents at that is very concerning. As is his slowness - and I have commented on this before, to make a change when things are clearly not working. We are missing Fosu big time as he gives us another dimension to our game - but you get injuries and have to adapt.
I have watched football long enough to see that when something isn't working after 20 minutes, it very very rarely starts working afterwards. We created nothing in the first half and it was clear that we were not going to create anything set up as we were. As this is not an unusual development, why did he have to wait to half time to make changes? We have to factor into the second half that Gillingham were more concerned with keeping what they had so it is not as simple as saying we should have started the first as we started the second, but we could have definitely got them on the back foot after their second for the same reason. Robinson was content to sit it out to teh break which is my book is a) stupid and b) criminal.`
I don't want him to go, but I do want him to change. He and the team are too predictable and he has to wise up to that, and if he doesn't then I do think his role is under threat. The gillingham manager said to the south london yesterday that they had watched us and knew our full backs pushed high up and they would be able to catch us there. One up top at home, especially when it is an out of form Magennis does not work. Playing the ball across the back line and having 69% possession with no end product does not work. Our set pieces at both ends have been awful, I know we scored from one yesterday but so many have failed to beat first man recently. Lots to work on
I am/was a KR supporter nad happy for him to stay on and see what he can do the rest of the season under new owners and given some cash, BUT I've just seen the table below (last 6 games) and now have serious concerns-:
I've quite liked the guy. He's passionate, seems to care, has a game plan that he really wants to stick to and I respect that (to a degree).
But having seen three games in the last month, each of the first half performances were abysmal and the second halves vastly improved. I think it's because we are going behind, so when the opponents sit deep we get the ball and attack. Otherwise, we can't seem to defend when teams come at us, and our counter attacking is non-existent. The attacking midfield has been pathetic, and big Josh is useless. Is that all his fault? Probably. But I can handle him until the new owners come in (and restore SCP to his rightful position).
What I can't handle is him offering fans out after the game (and his players doing the same off the back of it), no matter how abusive they get. That's pathetic, lower-league scummy behaviour and I am not remotely interested in supporting that, and won't be sorry to see him go as a result.

This is surely a huge fault rather than a positive, given the side are now 8 games without a win.
Stick with Robbo is still my view despite a terrible first half and not taking chances second half yesterday. Hopefully once we get players back and hopefully a couple of new recruits in we will make the play-offs and get to the Championship.

I respect that he has a 'philosophy', if you will. That he sees a way of putting a team together and getting them to play in the way he wants. But yes, as you say, it's not working and hasn't for the last 8 games. Hence "to a degree".
Needs to stop trying this formation. It doesn't work. It will only work with a decent number 10 and without Clarke and Fosu we don't have that. Reeves is useless and instead of pinning all our hopes on him during the summer we should have signed a striker. He cares but he is making really obvious mistakes. Football under him is so boring to watch. Doubt we will make play offs and someone fresh should come in once the takeover is complete.

I saw him mouth off to a few fans in the north lower just before he went down the tunnel.

Despite some challenges I am far from convinced that this is satisfactory.

Roly isn't going to get rid now when a) he couldn't give a shit how badly we do and b) he won't want to waste more money having to pay him off.
Then it's up to the new owner to decide.

He also told us Marshall was the best winger in the league
Ironic...
