  • Two 1920s postcards

Ernest Bacon was mainly a reserve but played five games for the club in the 1921/22 and 1922/3 seasons

John Mitchell played only three league games but is a far more important part of our history.

He was one of the founder members of the club, his brother Albert also played for the club and his father, also John was on the 1906/7 committee.

He played in both our first professional game v Norwich in 1920 and our first league game in 1921.

The museum paid £100 for the pair so thanks to everyone who has donated or bought items from our ebay account.
  • Some items from a donation from Steve Smith

    Pennants

  • More stuff from Steve Smith

    Metal car badges

  • Supporters' Club membership cards

  • Fixture list

  • Rare 1967 Colts programme v Millwall

  • We beat Millwall , that has to be a museum piece
  • That Charlton Colts team looks like a strong side. Several of those players went on to have long league careers either at Charlton or elsewhere.

As a kid I had that pennant with the diving goalkeeper on it. It adorned my bedroom wall for years.

Thanks for the wave of nostalgia that just swept over me.

Anyone else think John Mitchell looks like Ben Stiller doing Blue Steel?

An unusually polite notice from Port Vale.  I recall, back in the 1980s, a mounted police escort from the station at Longport, a mile through Burslem to Vale Park.

I think I’ve got one of the top one of these pennants in my loft. Must be from around 1967/68 or 1968/69 season if I remember rightly

We're doing some work with Tyne and Wear museums about Sam Bartram and Jimmy Seed "They won the FA Cup" and they sent this photo from a fan's autograph book.

Some really famous names (Hurst, Duffy, Bartram) but a few obscure players like Jack Vitty.

Can anyone make out the name top left under Benny Fenton?

Not sure about F Alexander and Byfield.

Bob Burlison signed in 1939 and played just one game. In 1946.

His full name was Robert Lyle Burlison so Taylor isn't our first Lyle.

  • Is it Riley Cullum
  • To me looks like R Callum or more likely Cullum

Riley Cullum it is. Great spot @CharltonKerry and @charltonnick
  • Couple of play-off items already donated.

Thanks to @Ollywozere for the bottle.

    Any other donations most welcome.

Please drop off when we're open, at main reception when we're not or post to us C/O the Valley.

Banners, shirts, medals, menus, flyers etc etc, etc all welcome.

  • I found some Charlton Athletic share certificates from 1997 & 2000 while sorting out some old  papers. Obviously they are not worth anything, but could they be a museum donation or shall I recycle them.
