    .

There is a flaw with county cricket, as we want to make it competitive but take the best players away from it.

Jennings might have flopped for England, but I'm sure that if he'd been with Lancashire all summer instead, his runs might have kept them up. If Burns instead had played all summer for England, Surrey would definitely have been poorer in the CC.

By taking say the best 3 or 4 players away from the bottom 8 counties and placing them with the top 10 counties you are, effectively, strengthening the higher tier even when international calls come. And that is what will happen because those in Div 1 will be able to afford to pay more than those in Div 2 with the lions share of money coming from T20/100/Tests going to those counties.

    Piss off Warwickshire

A real anti climax but this result shouldn't detract from what has been a splendid season. Much to work on and further recruitment will be needed but a definite move in the right direction.

Well done to Walks, Allan Donald, Sam Billings and all the players and coaching staff.

That hope that Moeen might join us is clearly way off the mark. But a move to Warwickshire...............

Fantastic effort this season. Need to strengthen as best we can and try and stay up next season. Very strong division next year.

We definitely need to strengthen the batting.

Denly, Kuhn and Crawley have arguably done enough this season to start next season in the first team but the other slots are negotiable in my view. There is also the scenario that if Denly makes a go of it in Sri lanka will he be available?

We also need a quickie of Henry's ilk to back up Stevo, Stewart, the Notts bloke whose name escapes me just now and Podmore.

Spin will be Denly (if available) and one of Riley or Qayyum.

One can only hope Bilbo will devote his time to Kent as county captain rather than chasing the one day stuff during the season.

Matt Milnes - not to be confused with the New Zealand Milne who played for us.

Kuhn's batting in the CC has been rather disappointing when compared to his efforts in the 50 over stuff

696 at 87 with 4 tons in the Royal London versus 780 at 34 with 0 tons

Other players have a similar drop, but no red ball tons is slightly worrying.

It's not like Canterbury has been an absolute road though (same can be said for a multitude of Div 2 pitches). I think he'll improve for playing in Div 1. Strengthening is still definitely required though

Billings is in the England A squad for the 4 day match in the UAE, but not the white ball side interestingly

It's not surprising that Warwickshire claim three of the top four places (youngsters Bell, Rhodes, and Trott) and Duane DibleyDom Sibley at eleven, but what's astonished me is that Kent also have 4 representatives in the list: Joe (8th); Heino (10th); Zak (12th); and Dicko (17th).

Just think how dominant we could have been in this list if we'd put in some decent first innings efforts instead of constantly relying on the second!

How different is the C.C. Div 1 XI going to look in reality? Do we think the likes of Podmore and Stewart will be around and make the step up with us?

I admit to being very concerned about the situation with our openers despite Zak Crawley’s recent score...

As a Div 1 club, is there anyone out of contract elsewhere we can poach?

Those averages so show how Billings has turned things around with the bat. He really struggled at the start of the season when he returned, whereas in the blast he has the highest average and has scored decent runs in the late county championship matches too.

be interesting to see the Canterbury averages on their own

Another thing to note about the batting is that we had only eight tons in the Championship (England's Joe and Dicko three apiece, Zak and Stewie(!) with one each) but managed six in the One Day Cup (Heino four in a row and two more for England's Joe) and England's Joe's effort against Slurrey in the T20.

In contrast Warks managed 16 Championship 100s but only five in the One Day Cup and one in the T20.

Does this possibly raise questions about the mentality of our batsmen and their ability to build big (and long) innings?

That was a good effort from Bilbo to top our T20 averages given when he returned from IPL/England duty he couldn't get an innings to last more than a dozen deliveries and struggled to reach double figures!

The Kent League Cricketer has a history of having a go at certain Kent League Clubs and also certain individuals, one of which is Joe Denly due to his perceived insistence that the standard of the KCL isn't worthy of consideration when it comes to the selection of future County players.

Looking forward to hearing what he makes of the fact that Joe has been awarded a benefit in 2019 especially from the perspective of his disappearance from the County between 2011-14.

What a game the Surrey v Essex is turning out to be.

Essex needing 132 to win, having had a first innings lead of 410, are 97-7.

Could be all down to Matt Coles who is down to bat at 11.

FFS Essex, the Surrey fans on this board are bad enough normally, but if they manage to pull off this win they'll be unbearable!

111-8 and Coles is in with 21 win. Getting a shed load from the Surrey boys in response to what he dished out earlier.
