Oh dear never mind what a shame. Though if the match gets awarded 3-0 to Everton, I’m not sure that helps us!!

    It'll be a fine
  • The fourth official will probably find themselves refereeing the under 10s next week.

Whole ref team has been taken out of WSL/WSL2 action next weekend
  • At the match yesterday.

I thought confidence and communication weren't great, but commitment and effort were good.

So I'm not too disappointed and I think they will improve quite a bit, and hopefully avoid relegation.

I feel like this Palace situation is really serious and really the only fair outcome is a 25 point deduction and the suspension of the second relegation place due to the integrity of the competition being irrevocably damaged. It's a shame for the WSL2 team who finish in second but they will just have to blame Palace for that

I've noticed that issue with communication too - it feels like the loudest player in the team is Whitehouse, which isn't ideal. Skeels did OK yesterday (until those two crap passes at the end), but she seems like a quiet person by nature so isn't massively vocal on the pitch.

As well as the step-up in quality, this season will be a different challenge psychologically in terms of how we respond to setbacks. I hope we have the characters in the squad to handle it.

Lifelong Charlton fan that took the plunge on a season ticket for me and my wife after the Play Off Final Win - so yesterday was the first time I have seen the women play live in person. From my perspective the few players who looked capable of cutting it in the WSL were mainly those with previous WSL experience - Neville, Partido and van Egmond, along with Whitehouse who is clearly in for a busy season as it stands. I know others have made comments about seeing a win at home this season - I have a greater worry about where a goal might come from without a mistake from the oppo/a penalty. Appreciate it is early days but there was very little cutting edge and I think we have to hope those who were unavailable might be able to provide a little more. Clearly Karen is doing the best she can with the resources available to her and for me any ire over performances rest higher up the food chain.

I see the club have issued a survey for those who attended which I would encourage people to respond to - there felt like some obvious issues like the fact all the bins in the concourse were full at full time - surely a simple thing to solve. I do think the club should see if there is interest for a singing/vocal section - as otherwise we will get outsung every week I suspect by away fans - even more so when they put them in the Jimmy Seed. Equally just selling programmes in the Club Shop seemed a bit of an own goal to me - I think they'd be better off having one seller in the Fan Zone in reality.

The main thing for me as I think someone said earlier is probably a lot of people who are coming to the women's games probably don't come for the men (certainly my wife doesn't) and thus there is a massive chance for the club to build on that - they are probably more likely to buy food and drink, shirts etc. However if we keep getting pumped week in week out then that support will drop off quickly - whilst 2,151 was clearly a decent gate, that number will fall quickly if we are bottom when winter sets in. Hopefully we can get one or two positive results in the next few weeks to keep people engaged and hopefully help the women continue their upward trajectory.

Putting away fans in the Jimmy Seed is going to be a real problem. It's going to be an insane situation where when we're at home our players have to play one half towards the opposition fans and never towards their own, and the opposition get a half playing towards their fans. The players are going to feel like they're at just as much of a disadvantage when they're at home

It’s an odd one isn’t it? Might be better to use upper west for away fans or perhaps the NW quadrant? Maybe offer home fans / neutral fans the chance to go in lower Covered End? There is no need for strict segregation at W matches.
I can see pros and cons whatever we do - it feels like it’s worth some proper thought and evaluating of options rather than simply assuming we do what we do for men’s games.
Allegiances can be more fluid too so giving away W fans a good experience at The Valley might encourage them to come back for men’s games if they live locally?

Feels like the smarter move would be to open a central block in the Curbs stand if you’re going to open another stand. Then you don’t have anyone in an end and there’s clear segregation if there’s an issue

Yes open a block in the curbs stand.

I don't think the club are going to pass up the chance to sell thousands of extra tickets to Arsenal and Chelsea fans. Has there been any mention of which games might have segregation?

Build on that by getting them to come to the men’s matches, surely?

Is segregation really necessary at women’s matches? Just giving them a block of the same stand makes sense, doesn't it? If there are too many away fans for that then we could open up the Covered End for home fans.

Wasn't needed against Liverpool. They brought quite a lot and they were a fairly delightful bunch to be honest. I think the segregation will be in place for teams like Arsenal or Chelsea who are London-based and bring a lot, and I imagine a lot of that will be to ensure that the whole West Stand doesn't end up filled with more Arsenal all over it than Charlton. The Curbs stand would be much better than giving them the JImmy Seed

The stewarding and catering costs of opening the Curbs stand would be far more than for the Jimmy Seed stand which is self contained.

What about giving away fans the NW quadrant? Or is it too small? It’s a really valid point that we don’t want aways behind the goal when there’s not a “home end” equivalent. Going to be tough enough as it is this season.

(WSL won’t want us to use Curbs in any case as it’s not shown on the broadcast)

Only if you open all the kiosks which there would be no need to do

That's alright, they can use all the money they saved not investing properly in the team

I'm not sure I fully understand the rule. I was puzzled because we used 3 v Stoke on Saturday. 6 mins, 46, 72 and 79. Can someone explain please?

    Where is this survey?

I received it via email from the Club - presumably they emailed everyone who bought tickets/women's season ticket holders? Equally I am sure the club would take feedback via email if you had something to share.

Half time subs don’t count when measuring the 3 sub opportunties

I said stewarding & catering costs. You would need a lot of stewards to just use part of the stand.
