We guessed this might be coming but tried not to think about it too much.
Captain Fantastic. What a lovely lovely guy.And despite being a Gooner, he's Charlton through & through.
Today, the end of season's POTY dinner will be announced.
And this may be your last opportunity to tell JJ how much you've enjoyed his exploits & how much he'll be missed.
During the Duchatelet years of despair, JJ, along with Solly would have worked as hard off the pitch as on it , endeavouring to keep their team mates onside with so many different managers to deal with and indeed different ideas.
Their contributions in the darkest hours for our club are immeasurable....Without their input &, I'm sure, wise words things could have been very different.
JJ's up there with Kins, SCP and their like - our heroes.
Not happy to see him leave the first-team squad but its been inevitable since his legs have gone. Some of my favourite memories of watching Charlton games have Johnnie with the Captain's armband. He's been one of the few who still play for the shirt in these dark times.
Cheers, Johnnie. Right up there in my list of Charlton legends. Not the best player to put on the red shirt but you can’t deny his passion and commitment. Three favourite memories ... those free kicks against Chef Utd and Chef Wendy and the goal against QPR. Deserves a job for life under the new regime. Let’s just hope they recognise his value to the organisation. #GoodLuckJohnnie
Many great memories of Jacko, one of very few shining lights in the last decade (excepting the 3 year Powell reign), and by all accounts a top bloke.
Aside from the other more obvious ones, my favourite Jacko memory is his late winner on NYD away at Watford. I woke up that morning with horrific flu / sweats (as well as obligatory hangover) etc and could barely get out of bed. Dragged myself up there, cracking see-saw game and an archetypal thumping Jacko header to win it 4-3 late on in front of a full away end. Thought that team was gonna carry us on to the Prem...
Thanks Jacko , a true Charlton legend. Always gives 100% which is all you ask of a player. The two goals against the Sheffield clubs in the championship season will live long in the memory.

He's been an amazing club captain, arguably the only player in recent years who deserves to be remembered long after I've left this planet. I can only admire the way he has conducted himself throughout these chaotic years under RD. We've been very lucky.
I'm not surprised about this announcement but it's very sad all the same. Jackson has been the one consistent ray of light through a particularly dark time for us as a club.
Will be there last game of the season to give him the sent off he so richly deserves. The word legend is over used in this day and age , but when you look it up in the dictionary it says Jackson to me !
A lot of people have understandably and correctly mentioned the two Sheffield games and that late QPR goal but the Jacko inspired comeback against Cardiff from 2-0 down when we eventually won 5-4 sticks in my mind.

Love you Johnnie !
A real shame. A true player.
To echo above, I hope he has something about him as a manager or coach.
Should be given a testimonial. Him and Solly.

I will also be retiring the following phrase;
Love Jacko to bits.
Great stuff JJ and thanks
Thanks JJ, I hope that you stick around.
His influence will be missed.
