Not sure if it's already been mentioned but if Roland is still in charge at the end of the season which hopefully he ain't.

Surely the boycotters could attend 1 game to say goodbye to a true Charlton legend.

I for 1 will be attending to say goodbye to JJ

What a fantastic servant he was and continues to be. Always got time for fans and famously got the drinks in on the way back from the West Country. Has always conducted himself properly even under the greatest duress. His autobiography will be an illuminating read for sure. Cheers Skip you’re the best!

Makes me feel incredibly emotional watching that

I was maybe in the minority who was absolutely over the moon when we signed him, I thought he looked good at Tottenham and scored a cracker against us for them at home, I rated him at Colchester and was very surprised they got him and then let him go.

Beyond having a very decent left foot he has a brilliant ball striking technique and aerially he was always going to get goals purely for the way he attacks the ball. Love him and I'm sad for him he has mostly experienced shit with us apart from the times under Powell.

He also has never hidden against Millwall like so many of our pussies over the last 9 years

That and the win at Hillsborough the Monday after was the last time I felt good watching Charlton.

Maybe also a 1-1 at Ipswich on a New Years Day (Jackson again - was hoarse for a week after that one!)
  • If love to see him continue with us in some capacity next season.
If not I wouldn't be surprised to see him end up working alongside another CAFC legend at Roots Hall.

This. (Not seen “this” for a while!)

I will certainly turn out to watch in spite of our owner

I put this on the other thread, but thought I'd add it here too

'worth going to the Blackburn game just to watch him lead us out one more time and give him the ovation he deserves.

right up there in my book as one of our greatest servants'

Worth going to the Blackburn game..So the club turns full circle ..ie Blackburn 2006 worth going to the game to give Curbishley a good sending off and hear Murray,s take on it on the field.

    Thats where the trouble started.

Jackson has been agood servant to the club only wish he had seen better times while pulling the red shirt on.

The best player, best leader (on and off the pitch) and the most likable character in the regime years.

This has given me one more reason to hope that Two Shats buggers off soon. As much as I'd like to be there to help give JJ the send off he deserves, I won't be going back on my word.

Think he’ll make a great manager one day. Eddie Howe sort of sensible.

Can only echo what has been said, JJ is one of us, he’s proper Charlton. He’s done more than enough to cement his place in our Hall of Fame. It’s been an honour to have him at our club.

Good luck with future endeavours, here’s hoping it’s with us in some capacity.

Who was the last guy to score 50 for us before Jacko?

Thinking about it and ironically, given a recent thread on here, I think it may be Carl Leaburn.

I think you're right. Jason Euell and Darren Bent both came to rest in the high thirties. BWP would be the next highest in recent (last 10) years.

Amazing looking at the below link
    Only 9 players above 20
Holmes is 10th on the list
Goes to prove how badly we have been lacking a goalscorer for years.

Oh I know that I mean for example Paul Williams is there but Super Clive isn't but I mean it shows a lack of goalscorers in recent years

That's cos Williams originally played for us in the old Div1 when that was the top league.

You're right about the championship and league 1 years

I didn't realise Yann had scored more than BWP. I would have guessed at 20-25 for him.

Shows even more, as if we didn't know already, just how stupid we were in off loading a 1 in 3 striker. Not as if they grow on trees at Charlton as this thread demonstrates.
  • Thank you Johnnie for the memories, in what has been a very testing time for the club.

Hope we keep him on the coaching side.

Isn't the whole point that he will be concentrating on coaching Charlton full time next season? I imagine he'll be kept on even if/when Robinson leaves

I travelled on the train with Johnny Jackson and half the team on the way back from Fleetwood earlier in the season.
He told me then that he was retiring at the end of the season to concentrate on coaching.
As I understand it he will remain at Charlton to continue with completing his coaching badges.
Let's hope so anyway a true Charlton legend.

The word 'legend' is an often overused word but in JJ's case is entirely apt. Charlton through-and-through, he's given so many of us so much enjoyment. His attitude - on and off the pitch - has been exemplary, a true model for youngsters. I really hope he stays with the club and yes, maybe in the future, he will manage The Addicks. Thanks JJ.

Top man, remember a former colleague of my wife (Spurs fan who said he knew JJ) telling me that we had a good un coming to us (when he came on loan from Notts County).....he wasn't wrong.
  • Growing up in Sheff, the games at Hillsborough have always been 'my' derby. During the run up to 'the game' the Wendies were already talking of how they were going to tear Utd a new one. What absolute joy it gave us to walk out on that day victorious. JJ's contribution was always so much more than his goals. He was epic that day and on so many others. He is part of group of Charlton player's that bring about an immense feeling of pride, that they wore our shirt with honour and integrity. An honest pro that will stay in the hearts long after he has gone. Get the feeling his last game will bring a lump in the throat moment to very many grown men (and women) as he walks off the pitch for his last game in red.

    A legend for me!

Looking forward to see what time Jacko does for his marathon, seeing that his legs have gone!

I still think he could do a cameo job on the pitch, but in an attacking role (nicking a goal from a corner), rather than as an extra body in defensive midfield which isn't really his game
