  • I've just read the last four pages of this thread in one go... so i thought that story sounds familiar!

I cant be bothered to go back and see if i whinged about Oasis at Knebworth.

  • Best gig: Hot Club of Cowtown, Dingwalls, Camden 2004
Worst: God's Hotel, Marquee, Charing Cross Rd, early 90's
  • Must admit, i doff my hat (if i had one) to some of the experiences that you people have had, wow, Buddy Holly,Led Zep,Beatles,Kinks and all the rest.

best - Stones (although i wasnt particularly a Stones fan) Wembley circa 98? Voodoo Lounge ? Absolutely brilliant.

Worst - Bowie (yet i was , and still am a huge Bowie fan) at Wembley Arena circa 96 , where he was appalling, and retired to the bar, with what seemed like half of everybody else. And then Stones at Twickenham circa 2003/4 - where they could have put a CD on of their greatest hits and it would have been better.
  • Any lifers who fancy popping along to The Iron Horse in Sidcup Saturday night, my band is playing, we have a couple of Addicks in the band, do come along and say hello, it may be the best gig you’ve been to or it may not
    anyway bring some rotten fruit!

I saw John Ottway at the Tramshed, might have been a bit later than 88 though. A brilliant night.
  • Absolutely worst ever was a Dire Straits tribute band that used an alto sax instead of a guitar for all of Mark Knopfler’s solos!
    Go figure.
One of the best gigs I'd ever been to was Dire Straits at the old Albany Empire in 1978(?) before it burnt down.

One of the worst was Dire Straits at Lewisham Odeon a year or so later,  Mark Knopfler was high or pissed or both.

  • other notable gigs on my list...
Peter Gabriel at Earls Court on the SO tour
U2 at the NEC on the Joshua Tree tour
Slade at Goldsmiths College Christmas Ball in the late 70s
Genesis at the marquee club in 1982 (warm up gig for the Milton Keynes Bowl)
The who at Charlton 74 and 76 (of course)

  • happy mondays wembley arena circa 1990 - had a fight with each other and left us with donovan - dog shit- that and primal scream - brixton circa 2014 - shit
  • The worst I ever attended was when the first Mrs Isawsummersplay dragged me to somewhere in Catford to see David Soul and the Brotherhood of Man. Even now, I can't believe that I agreed to go. It was so bad, it was laughable.
