  • I assume they will sell from the club at some point. They will have to surely. But they won't announce it now or few will buy through Ticketmaster.

    Precisely.

This has got disaster written all over it.

Fans will have not received their tickets and will be turning up on the night asking for reprints. In amongst this there will be people queueing up for a ticket. The game will not start on time due to queues outside, of this I am certain.

I sympathise with the clubs with the distribution of tickets in a short time frame but yet again the sale of tickets has been f***** up. I will be very surprised if any other clubs will be adopting the same policy as us.

I'm just glad I'll be watching the game in the boozer...............with The President.

    Thank f@ck for that
  • Did everyone receive an email from the club? I didn't, but have a half year season ticket for this season

Then you and me can do the same for next Sunday.
  • Did everyone receive an email from the club? I didn't, but have a half year season ticket for this season

I didn't bit used my CON number form my red card. It let me set up the account but I don't have the privileges to buy as I'm not a season ticket holder.
  • Just like to say thanks to the other lifers who have messaged offering to print my ticket for me if needed, goes to show what a great bunch of fans we have.

You can also scan it on your smartphone apparently if need be.

I don’t own a printer or have access to one. How can I print my tickets for the match?

Supporters who do not own or have access to a printer should be aware that the barcode present on their print-at-home tickets can also be scanned on a smart phone. Fans can gain entry to The Valley by scanning the barcode from their smart phone when they get to the turnstiles on matchday.

Alternatively, supporters who purchase their tickets via Ticketmaster can visit The Valley before the day of the match and the ticket office will print their tickets for them. The ticket office have extended their opening hours to help fans with this.

Set up a new hotmail account?

A lot of this procedure relies upon you being computer literate. I wouldn’t have a clue how to set up a hotmail account and I don’t really want one.
I already have 3 email accounts. It seems like you have to jump through a lot of computer hoops stuff that people of my generation find hard to deal with and quite frankly don’t trust.
For one, I have no idea what my customer number is, so how can I find that out.? Without that I don’t have a chance on line right from the get go.
Since I left SE London I haven’t had a season ticket for several years and now live a long way from The Valley.
I just want to rock up at The Valley around Thursday lunchtime and buy a ticket or get a pal (who lives in Eltham) to get me one sometime during the week, why can’t that be done.....what could be more simple?
I would suspect the club probably will have tickets printed and available to pay on the day by Thursday (don’t take my word for it, I’m just a not ITK fan and this is charlton after all) but this is a game that could attract a big crowd so there could be some big queues on the night. Season ticket holders like me will want their usual seats so it makes sense for us to buy now. Other fans will probably prefer to spend the time before kick off in the pub or just arriving in time from work so they will want to buy the tickets in advance but it is a football game and it’s not sold out, yet, and as long as Shrewsbury doesn’t sell out the away section and it then becomes an all ticket match then it’s reasonable to expect a general sale on the night.

They are bulk printing the unsold tickets for sale on Thursday. My advice if you can get there and find the instructions too complex is go down there during the day and buy over the counter. There is no possibility whatsoever there will be a shortage of tickets. But I would not rely on buying after about 6pm on Thursday because anything could happen.

Get there before 1pm early shut on a Thursday !!!!
  • Booked mine on my phone. Very easy, not impressed with the £2.50 transaction fee though.

    Bored
Go for a walk. Time will fly by
  • I had exactly the same, I logged on to buy my ticket and it advised me I do not have the correct privileges on my account. I then re-read the instructions and realised that I had set up a new account and therefore created a new client ref. Resolved this by signing out of the account, clicked sign in again and clicked on the “have an existing account”? I then entered my client ref off my season ticket and surname and it work fine. It would have been simple if only I had read the original instructions correctly.
  • Waited for the initial rush to die down, logged on, usual seat reserved, paid and email with ticket recieved, whole process took 5 minute's.
  • Soundas, you will be able to buy in person at The Valley on Thursday.
  • So when do they go on sale to non season ticket holders
  • Can somebody just advise on this. I'm no longer a season ticket holder so can't buy until Tuesday.

When my turn comes to buy, can I buy 2 tickets? And if I can do this, do I somehow have to connect my son's Ticketmaster account to mine? (God knows how that works).

I agree no need to panic at all for this Shrewsbury game but Wembley will be a nightmare, particularly if season ticket holders & VG members are allowed to buy 4 tickets.
  • slight bit of faffing on the site but managed to get my tickets.

for those who don't have a printer I have in the past gone to the local library to print there. might cost a few pence but that's all.

    Tuesday.
  • Done but had to set up an account for me and a separate one for my son to buy his ticket, my account did not connect to both the season tickets I bought.

    So 2 transactions fees.

No email from club but number on season ticket worked.

Just got 3 - absolute doddle. Why can’t it be that easy all the time.

I think you must still be pissed, just had a phone call from the feds asking why my Season Ticket details had been used in an attempt to buy an RPG on the darkweb!

With a bank holiday and a game on Thursday, the club had no way of getting tickets out via the normal process/post due to time restrictions, neither would they have the staff or resources to manage the initial flood, or the queue for 16000+ collections on Thursday, I think it’s a good decision (despite the admin fee from ticketmaster)
Damned if they do, damned if they dont, would like to know others views on how else they should have done it?

Have a ticket office in future that is fit for purpose. Maybe we can have one of those when we finally get a new owner.

In the meantime we all have to use this way.

Same mate. Added about 4 people (all season ticket holders), followed the instructions to buy on behalf of them, but the instructions given didn’t match the website, so I ended up paying £7.50 in booking fees

I might’ve been being massively dim, but there was a massive disparity for me

Exactly my point, currently, under this regime, under staffed and under resourced, serious question, how would anyone else do it?
It isn’t perfect, but it hasn’t been done IMO to piss people off deliberately either.

Just putting this out there, if there aren’t any left on Tuesday I’ll be looking for a spare

Why the panic. It won't sell out
12,000 season ticket holders / valley gold members upto 4 Tickets each, potentially same situation in a final is the panic
Our highest crowd this season was still 10k shy of the capacity. I'm pretty sure that anyone who wants to go on thursday will get a ticket, and there would be enough spare to also take a mate too.

As for the final if we get there, the entire population of Charlton would get a ticket if they wanted to.
