Got to say Martinez got those subs right.

    Subs right= Starting XI wrong.
Not necessarily. It can also mean that the way the game played out was not how they had set up and planned for. Therefore, Martinez assessed and read the situation and made changes accordingly to be able to turn it around.

There is nothing to say that had he started the team that ended the game, it would’ve been the same result.

Does everyone appreciate that these players are not wearing soft soled running shoes but hard studded football boots?

Obviously Neymar was trodden on and the Mexican should have received a red or yellow card.

But even the 7 year old who was watching with me commented on Neymar's play acting.

Please tell me you did recognise that his rolling and writhing was acting ?
Not to mention the fact that he was as right as rain straight after.
Try pressing down on something with the front of your foot with your ankle on the floor at a similar angle. It's an extremely weak muscle. There's no leverage. I'm sure it didn't hurt one bit.
Regardless of if it hurt or not. There is no need for the reaction afterwards. Nor the first time we’ve seen him roll around, and won’t be the last.

France 4 Argentina 3 was the best game so far for me.
Belgium 3 Japan 2 was the best 2nd half.
Portugal 3 Spain 3 was the best Derby so far.

Id also add the Germany win over Sweden and loss to South Korea, both were good games to watch - England 6-1 win over Panama was brilliant too as just doesnt happen to us

Those three you mention are the best three of the Tournament though

Just tried this experiment. I can guarantee if anyone were good enough to let me try the experiment on their shin bone just above the ankle whilst I am wearing hard studded football boots the words coming out of their mouths would not be expressions of how surprisingly painless it was!

Did you have plenty of space around you to roll around like a spoilt little girl that didn’t get her own way?

I'm sure it hurt a bit but people have made less fuss when they have been mortally wounded!

Come on Brazil and knock the scummy jammy twats out

Not for me, I could not care less about the Roland connection. After watching a poor Brazil and that diving, whinging, cheating Neymar I hope Belgium send them home.
I just cant stand the thought of Roland having any happiness in his life - as long as Belgium dont fluke a win I dont care.

People who say that Brazil don't look quite as exciting as they used to be, have highlighted the reason they are more dangerous. Getting thrashed by Germany taught them to be pragmatic. I'd love Belgium to knock them out as they are the most dangerous team left in it.

We are more likely to beat belgium then Brazil or France, so will cheer them on to the final for that reason alone. Still think we would have a chance against the other 2 but would rather not play them.

pointless fact (or is it ??) ….. Neymar and C Ronaldo share a birthday, different years .. (one of my sons was born on exactly the same day as Ronaldo, February 5th 1985)

Just read this quote from Wayne Rooney and think he is spot on.

Wayne Rooney thinks England did the right thing by having a go-slow against Belgium and has played the classic “if anything, we’re too honest card”.

“For me personally, it’s the right decision,” he told ESPN in Washington DC. “The result, in my opinion - I can say it now, I’m not (an England) player - the result was the best result for England. And maybe that’s been a problem we’ve had the last 15, 20 years as a country: we’re too honest. We sit there and say we want to win every game. This is England. This is how we should play. When all the other countries are plotting their way through, I’m sure Gareth would have liked to have kept the momentum going, but sometimes you need to take a step backward to go forward. I believe it was definitely the right decision.”

Annoyingly I've managed to miss both the Belgium/Japan match and the France/Argentina match!

Feel sorry for Japan, but so much better to go out in that way than parking the bus and losing 1-0.

I must admit, I really hate watching Tiki Taka. Come on Russia!

Very dull at times, compare that to how the French, Mexicans, Brazillians and dare I say it England play (at times). The Fourth goal by France is how football should be played....5-6 passes from back to front with the last one being a shot into the net.

For me it has 0-0 written all over it with a penalty shoot-out to decide.

(Ok - I know it's now going to be something like 8-7 and described as the greatest match of all time!!)

I reckon 2-1 the Swiss, if Sweden will win will be a boring 1-0 or penalties, dont see them scoring many....

I got 5 on BTTS wins for Swiss and England.

Worst game of the knockouts by a country mile. 2 of the least inspiring teams left in the competition. It has the feel of a mid table premier league game a bit - if the team names weren't in the corner i'd swear I was watching Southampton V Watford.... absolute snoozefest
