I'm not sure I stuck up for them , I'm sure I said we'd have the skintist ostracised sheikh from UAE or something , do some digging , did i fall for it , I must have said something nice cos everyone else was so pathetically gushing that peer pressure may have made me join in .

With the Spivs I was optimistic.
With Roland I was cautiously optimistic
With ESI I was cautious
With the next lot I'll be sceptical, unless it's Varney then I'll revert to cautiously optimistic4 -
Never took to Southall - far too keen on social media for my liking and came across like a used car salesman. Didn't expect him to be quite so bad.4

I thought we were going to be bathing in champagne and being fed chips before every game, which was going to be a well-financed masterclass in style, grace and ruthless efficiency.0
-
Hands up - I massively fell for the Southall love-in at the beginning. Pictures taken with mates in front of the Sam Bartram statue with black and white scarves laid to rest, in the Swan at about 11am etc.
And from what what I remember of that day - there were thousands in the same boat.0 -
Hindsight is a lovely thing.
When Southall first spoke we all listened intently. We were so desperate to hear some good news...and there it was. A guy saying what we wanted to hear and His Excellency who would clearly plunder cash into us. Even the name ESI was exciting - these people had done a bit of research and wanted to get the fans onside.
It didn't take too long for the cracks to start to show though. Looking back there were various things said that raised eyebrows but with the benefit of hindsight we could probably have seen warning signs earlier. Obviously there are those in the "I knew he was dirty from day one" camp but the majority were just excited. "It can't possibly be any worse than Roland so bring it on."
Hindsight eh! what a wonderful thing.
Well we are in a bit of a pickle right now but "seemingly" have a couple of potential investors vying for our attention so i'd like to think we have a future as a club and, who knows, could it be a bright one? Or would we all settle for just a bit of stability for now and an owner with both a bit of cash and a proper plan!2 -

How dare you kiss our badge and say all the right things and then do this... You're no better than Southall. Forgive?? Never... Forget?? Never.
Is it fair to say that he's off your Christmas card list?
but the first time I saw Southall and heard his first interview I thought he was a dishonest rat conman!!1968CAFC said:I don’t know how many Charlton fans are serious business people and I dont how many Charlton fans
are seriously street wise.
but as always there seems to be a lot of knee Jerk
negativity on this forum to quickly ?
i think we should give ESI and HE a chance to show their true hand or worth, till at least the end of this month.
Lee Bowyer must have his new contract in place by then, or there will be serious concern.
Has Roland Rat actually been paid any money at all
as yet for anything?
I did meet Lyle Taylor twice at the valley with my son
and I was certain the Arab connection would pay up
but I was wrong about ESI they were Bad news from the start so you were right 👍👍👍

I mean even this 1968cafc says he knew he was a dishonest rat conman from his first interview, yet 1st February he said he was doing a good job
Can we not just be honest and admit we fell for the bullshit MS fed us
I tried to tell you all, but my comment was deleted by the anti-free speech elitist moderators because it was in contravention of the CL "if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all" policy.
did you think after Southhall was removed the arab
would come forward ?

Taken me awhile to put this out, still seething
My littleun has had to put up with me talking bout Charlton all her young life, where we have been, the highs, lows, more lows the owners, the whole ordeal as it were, she has been right amongst it especially with the Roly saga (still continuing) after the delirium of Wembley last yr & the way we started the Championship,we were on course to be settled for a change, then the next lot of chancers decide to come in & try strip the very heart out of our club...I try to fill her in but it’s too much for her little mind, all she wants is for us to go back to the Valley & watch her heroes, one in particular...yes that one...,last yr at the Donny p/o away game,my little one got a photo with every player, but the one that’s been sitting in a frame, pride of place, was one of her, that hero along with the MoM award...now I’ve been trying to explain she will never see him in a Charlton shirt again, the same shirt she saved up for with her own money then saved more so she could have that name & number on her back,I even explained he might have only been there till January, but she insisted it didn’t matter,it was her hero, she now wants that photo thrown away along with shirt & I’m heartbroken for her...that man has disrespected our Club,Our Shirt, our fans & devastated my daughter,so Lyle u egotistical c&£t just fuck off & do one, there is not one ounce of sympathy coming from me,I hope u have a train wreck of a career from here on in...3 games, just a few more playing hrs to see out your contract & u could have always been a hero in her (our) eyes..but no,you have left my girl in tears & that is unfuckin forgivable...
But I’ve promised her we will always have a Charlton & she still says she is on board...👍

Personally I see Taylor going the same way as Ricky Holmes. Journeyman career in the lower leagues until he had a half decent time at AFC Wimbledon (like Holmes with Northampton), get a move to someone with a bigger contract (Holmes & Sheff Utd) and frankly don't see him repeating the form of his life for one reason or another. Holmes was because of injuries Taylor will be lack of ability if a Premier League club come in for him. Even then to succeed at another Championship club with his ego, Taylor will need to hit the ground running, he was a journeyman lower league striker for a reason when he joined us, just my gut feel but for me he's peaked with us and think he'll be back in League One probably twelve months after wherever he ends up.

Can I admit I was wrong?
Well partially anyway. I still feel that it is his right to leave when his contract expires, I completely understand why he would even though I'm disappointed that he is leaving. But I am feeling more angry that he won't play up until his contract runs out. Even if you take all the emotional side out like leaving teammates, staff and fans that he still has a contractual obligation to fill. If he refuses then surely it's a breach of contract and I hope we take him to court as it potentially isn't just lost wages it's maybe much bigger than that given what is at stake over those few games.
There you go CL, not often I'll admit I was wrong (even partially).3 -

first it was a few weeks in when Lee Bowyer was getting pain off certain fans for not buying players,
and afterwards we learned of an embargo.
No excuses from me at all I was wrong about the lying scumbag 👎1 - Sponsored links:

Lets hope Bonne steps up and she can get his name on the back of her next strip. There’s a boy who won’t forget where he came from.4 -
Sleepless nights. Up until 5 in the morning because of this situation. Absolute joker.7

It's all PR toss. He knows he's looking bad. Despite what he says he's trying to save a bit of face. I note that he didn't say anything about what his team mates thought of his antics. You probably couldn't print that.1 -
I never thought Southall was a bad'un at first, BUT I did point out at the time that initially everyone also liked Katrien, who was personable and a breath of fresh air etc, so perhaps wasn't as over excited as others here, and we know how that turned out
The shambles of getting Bowyer's new contract agreed did plant a few doubts in my mind though0 -
Seen on lyles insta stories that he shared a video of Chris Dickson implying that the media are using race to portray the lyle story negatively, whilst ignoring that Solly isn't playing. Annoying that they are using the race card when the reason it is portrayed this was is because Lyle is/was our best player whilst Solly is now a bench warmer at best16
-
Chris Dickson going a bit Paul Elliot there. 😴
Maybe the difference is Solly hasn't mentioned money,life-changing move, family, best version of myself kinda claptrap!3 -
“I can’t sleep, I’ve been facing a blank wall” - what a knob!0

Be glad once he's gone - he's let the club down.6
