Seen on lyles insta stories that he shared a video of Chris Dickson implying that the media are using race to portray the lyle story negatively, whilst ignoring that Solly isn't playing. Annoying that they are using the race card when the reason it is portrayed this was is because Lyle is/was our best player whilst Solly is now a bench warmer at best
Eurgh. What a wanky move from the pair of them.
  • Hope Lyle gets a decent night's sleep tonight.

Apparently he has had a big money offer from Galatasaray. Welcome to Hell.
Don’t they tackle a bit hard in the Turkish league?
Double bonus for him. Would be a great opportunity for him to 'not play' for his new club on 4 times the salary!

Think Taylor is on 6.5k a week - yeah it’s not amazing money for a striker of his ability but it’s still 300k more than I earn a year.

I get the situation completely but what really annoys me is the whole injury in the season, and it was done on international duty something he’s not been able to do before where as we have given him the ability to do that.

It’s like working for a company mon - fri On the weekend you decide to do some sort of voluntary work you hurt yourself badly resulting in you being of no use to your firm for 14 weeks, then we get hit with a pandemic and your work has to furlough staff and lots of other companies are struggling, you are still being paid full salary, on June the 1st you are asked to return to work and you say no here’s my notice I won’t help you out as I’ve lined up a better deal.

It’s wrong and anyone that doesn’t think that really wants to give there heads a wobble.

I believe Chris Dickson has posted something alluding to this being a race issue - let’s not even entertain that as it’s quite clearly rubbish.

Like everybody, I thought Southall was a positive development as the initial narrative was there was lots of Arab money behind him. I did recognise him in other fantasist a*holes I have encountered but an a*hole with Arab money wasn't necessarily a disaster.

I started to worry in early January. The first press conference that was too flat and the second one soon after that was too positive. I was thinking, this bloke is useless. Then the lack of activity in early January when we still had big injury issues. I know enough that in football you respect the points. I knew Bowyer knew that and we were not. So I did suss the bloke out before most. But initially I put it down to him being useless rather than all the other crap that is around it.

Can you imagine if he tried to pull this stunt at Galatasary?

Yes Taylor has also put that as his story. To bring race into it is silly

Solly sadly isn't able to make a big difference whether we stay up or not.

Racism unfortunately is alive Alive and kicking  as events in America has shown.
Racism should be opposed whenever it raises it's ugly head.
But when people like Mouthall and Taylor try and play the race card where racism doesn't exist the don't help the cause.

Interesting that both Taylor and Southall have played the race card in the same week.

Taylor has his reasons and I can understand some of them. Would any of us have done what he has done? Of course not. We are loyal to our club. Footballers first loyalty is to themselves. It is their careers. Some have a bit of loyalty to their club too and some don't. Taylor is one of those that don't. He is still in credit with me, whilst I am a little disapointed. He shouldn't be a distraction, we have more important things to focus on. If he wants to piss off, then piss off quietly I say.

Like everbody, he may regret a decision he makes today when he is older and wiser. Not because we are giving him a hard time, but because he is contracted to play until the end of June and that is what he should be doing. There is a chance of an injury falling down the stairs.

Like many on here , upset that Lyle has made this choice. By all means depart from CAFC, but at the end of the season surely. Yes he may get injured, but  if he is so petrified  about that scenario, get your agent to secure some form of insurance policy if such a thing exists?. Not sure I would be too keen on signing a player that walks away  from a contract because he might get injured. Mate you  have always faced that anxiety, it is part of football. Play the season, and leave.

I look back and wonder how Taylor would have fared with Billy Bonds, Jack Charlton, Dave Mackay or Tony Adams as his captain.
Spark out on the dressing room floor I reckon.
Still, I understand his pain and as a contracted player perhaps the club might lay on some counselling for him

Taken me awhile to put this out, still seething

My littleun has had to put up with me talking bout Charlton all her young life, where we have been, the highs, lows, more lows the owners, the whole ordeal as it were, she has been right amongst it especially with the Roly saga (still continuing) after the delirium of Wembley last yr & the way we started the Championship,we were on course to be settled for a change, then the next lot of chancers decide to come in & try strip the very heart out of our club...I try to fill her in but it’s too much for her little mind, all she wants is for us to go back to the Valley & watch her heroes, one in particular...yes that one...,last yr at the Donny p/o away game,my little one got a photo with every player, but the one that’s been sitting in a frame, pride of place, was one of her, that hero along with the MoM award...now I’ve been trying to explain she will never see him in a Charlton shirt again, the same shirt she saved up for with her own money then saved more so she could have that name & number on her back,I even explained he might have only been there till January, but she insisted it didn’t matter,it was her hero, she now wants that photo thrown away along with shirt & I’m heartbroken for her...that man has disrespected our Club,Our Shirt, our fans & devastated my daughter,so Lyle u egotistical c&£t just fuck off & do one, there is not one ounce of sympathy coming from me,I hope u have a train wreck of a career from here on in...3 games, just a few more playing hrs to see out your contract & u could have always been a hero in her (our) eyes..but no,you have left my girl in tears & that is unfuckin forgivable...

But I’ve promised her we will always have a Charlton & she still says she is on board...👍

great post and my daughter is exactly the same - adores Taylor. I'm hoping Bonne can really do the business, gets given the No 9 shirt and she goes on to totally forget Lyle

    The Lyle show.

He has full control of it, if a club was making him not play it would be illegal.

Fucking idiot am extremely greatful for the goals to him it’s a job to us it’s part of our lives our little old Charlton, and to Darren Gough Charlton is a proper team you northern shit

Way he's worded that makes it sound like he's got a new club and they're dictating decisions for him

If so what disappoints me is the fact that on that recent podcast he actually came out and said no one, literary no one is talking to each other in Football at the moment

By that I presumed he meant Agents and clubs etc. which is clearly bullshit

Exactly. He's been told by his new club not to play all day long. Cant have been too many messages of support from Charlton fans i wouldnt think

I'm sure the FA would have something to say about that, if true.

That latest twitter post has wound me up. Yet again no apology, all about him and thanks those that have supported his decision. A decision that cannot be supported given he is in breach of contract, there's no grey area it's just wrong.
And playing the race card because the focus is on him and not Solly? Anyone with a shred of intelligence can see that's because Solly is simply not an important factor in our survival.
    Can't stand the bloke.

Exactly, as long as pre contract agreements have existed players have, to my mind at least, fulfilled their obligations to the club currently playing them or the club and player have both agreed to terminate things early.

The FA won't do anything as I doubt anything is written down but if the club signing him have pressurised him to refuse to play for the current club that breaks down another fragile remaining layer of morality in football.

That tweet or post is a load of bollocks, he has complete control. To the point he made the decision not to fulfil his contractual obligation of playing football if fit.

Aside from that, football isn't that black and white. It's an emotional game for the people that make football the cash cow it is for those that seem intent on destroying the game, it's also massively about character and mental fortitude in the same way test cricket is. I guarantee successful teams that have won stuff and compete contain changing rooms full of people willing to fight for the man next to them even if they don't like them. Taylor now falls well out of that bracket for me and I'd be very wary of him if I was about to become a teammate of his

    Still no apology.
