Solly is out of contract as well, choosing not to play.
Won't get half the abuse that Taylor will.
Solly isn't as important to the playing team as Taylor
And thats the problem.
If Taylor is going to get abuse, then will the same people also be abusing Solly? I doubt it.
Same issue where if a star player wants away fans will call him scum and a traitor, but if it's a shit player no one cares.
Chris Solly is not a shit player.
I’m annoyed by what’s happening, particularly in this case - but Chris Solly still deserves respect for what he has given the club over the majority of his lifetime.
If you are not going to play that’s fine but don’t expect us to pay your wages in the meantime. Breach of contract. Now Fcuk off. Btw thanks for the memories. You were, largely, great. Good luck to you. That said, much as it pains me to admit it I completely understand Taylor’s position and in the circumstances I’d feel/do the same, especially given the basket case that club currently is. I suspect Lee has outed him deliberately.
Makes the last two years seem pretty pointless really. Without Lyle we are in far greater danger of going down, so he chooses not to play and we end up back where we were before he signed, but actually in a far worse position due to the players we have lost and the financial situation it leaves the club in.
Just finish what you started like Bow has said, he’s good enough anyway and will get the move at the end of it. He’s contracted to us, so no it’s not too much to ask. Right now he’s being selfish because he knows the importance he has on the team.
Solly is different because he hasn’t been involved for months, wasn’t the last time he played in The FA Cup against West Brom? He may have already been told he wasn’t getting a new deal, so with his previous record, he needs to make sure he is in shape to find a new club, the situation is different. Lyle is in demand and will have a host of clubs to choose from which will pay him 3/4x the money he is on now.
When you look at it, Lewis Page hasn’t played for the first team for 18 months, but is desperate to come back and play for us with the fact that he is also out of contract. He needs this time to ensure he is fit for a new deal, be it here or elsewhere. But instead he wants to play and be apart of keeping us up. It really does show Lyle in a bad light.
So he’s still contracted till the 30th but won’t play between the 20th & 30th ? Surely he’ll be breaching his contract ?
You can't force a player to play during a pandemic.
No but his reason for not playing isn't really pandemic related. If Pearce didn't want to play because his missus is pregnant then I'd completely understand but it would seem Taylor just doesn't want to miss out on a payday.
I think with Solly it really depends on where the financial security is. Playing for a L1/L2 team as an injury risk or coaching, perhaps even entering the Charlton set-up as he's so close to Bowyer/Jackson. I think the latter is much more secure, but maybe he has a few years left in him playing-wise. Probably a hard decision that he might not have fully made yet, so it's unsurprising he's iffy about playing

Wasn't implying Solly was shit, he's been great for us.
Just meant that no one will be too fussed about him not playing on because he's not crucial to the team. Same goes for Davis. But Taylor is our best player so will get abuse.
Fuck him, ask him if he wants to tear up his contract now and stop paying him, if he doesn’t want to do that, every time he refuses to play while under contract he should be fined two weeks wages,
either way tell him any belongings he has at the ground/training ground will be sent to him and he is to stay away, one less person potentially spreading this disease around the place.
Shame for everyone that he’s gonna leave on a sour note. Can’t blame him personally as I’m pretty sure we’d all do the same. It’s just a shame the way it’s planned out.
seems like he’s gonna get a prem move and good luck to him - without him we wouldn’t be where we are now that’s for sure
I can blame him personally.
He is a professional footballer under contract to play football for the club that pay his wages.
I don't blame him for wanting to leave the club, but I do blame him for not seeing out his contract.
Danny Murphy saying that Lyle should be playing, says that Lyle should speak to the club about an Insurance Policy
Has questioned if the club are capable of doing that though
Acknowledges that Taylor is 30 compared to Murphy being 20 when he went from Crewe to Liverpool
Yet says that playing with the fear of injury is not a good place to be in
Insured against losing a contract that doesn’t exist? Sign me up for that policy!
How do you know that there isn't a contract that has already been agreed? Even if he doesn't have a contract in place an insurance policy could be taken out by the club, in Lyle's favour, covering the earnings that he could expect to receive over the next three years following a move. Of course, the club won't do that because it doesn't have proper leadership and doesn't have a pot to piss in. Can't blame Lyle at all and I hope that he gets the move that his talent deserves.
Last summer Taylor was set to leave. Get a massive contract and be set for life. For numerous reasons it didn't happen.
Fans still got on his back for being disloyal and a rat. Then the truth comes out about the "rejected offer" and many feel
If ANY of us were in a position to change our lives forever we would take the chance. Just a few months later he got an injury that rules him out for 4 months and now Covid. If that scuppered his chances of this move and he ended his career with a lots of "What' if's" how would he feel? If he stayed to be at the shambles we have become when he could be living the good life and be at a higher profile club
As much as his stance annoys me it is most certainly understandable. Good luck
Solly is different - he has been loyal to us though thick and thin. He's got one or two contracts in him and is out of favour with us so I would guess is off to a new club. Good luck to him
If Covid-19 has taught us one thing it is to take opportunities when they come your way
Gutted, I can't say I blame him. Southall has shat on him already and he can see what a mess the club is in.
Thanks for the memories Lyle best centre forward and character we have had for a long time just a shame the succession of wankers in control of the club seem insistent on fucking the club up
I don't know the employment law rules but in the current situation if it's safe to go to work and you refuse would you expect to be sacked?
In Taylors case, or any employee/employer case, I feel you should show some loyalty to an employer who paid you whilst you were unable to work due to injuring yourself whilst working for another company (which your main employer has no control over) and at least fulfil your contractual obligations.
I am deeply disappointed in Taylor's attitude. Not that he'll probably give a shit.
In one of Lyles recent interviews he did outing Southall he kept talking about the Brentford move not happening and 3 or 4 times stressed he was professional kept doing his job did not sulk. Well Lyle do the same again.
He's professional when it suits him to be. I fully understand Lyle's position. He's a selfish bastard and put's himself before his team mates and the fans. If I'm honest in the same situation I'm confident I would play out the season for the manager, team mates and fans. I can understand him having no loyalty to the owners.
It reminds me of all those times over the years I went in to work not feeling well, because I didn't want to let down my work mates as we were always stretched. I never did it for the employer.

Will we play a game before his contract expires at the end of June? 1 game maybe, 2 max.
We'll possibly fine him wages for the weeks he refuses to play and that'll be that.
If he's that disinterested, Bowyer is obviously better off planning for all games without him.
Love it if Bowyer is bulshitting and Taylor rocks up v Hull unannounced. Bowyer has 3 weeks to turn his head back to being a player that wants to play again. He's training isn't he?
another thing to blame Roland for. If the prat had given him a decent contract in summer 19 this would be a non issue.
Maybe. Maybe not. Not defending Roland (God forbid) but Taylor saying he would have signed that contract in the summer was a great fan pleasing sound bite but we’ll never know if he actually meant it.

This. It's one thing not signing a new contract or wanting to leave, but its another refusing to play when you are being paid for another 2 months.
Knowing the sort of club we are, and how things seem to change every single day regarding each crisis we are involved in.....There is a part of me which thinks, and hopes, that there are still a few more twists to come in this story.
Bowyer has gone on the radio to announce this for a reason - probably in the hope that it will make a difference.

Nothing to do with Covid19.

Wont be surprised if Birmingham were picking up the wages
