Yes their wages are obscene, but so are failing CEOs who fuck companies over then disappear, only to turn up somewhere else six months later after a nice paid-for holiday at the expense of the shareholders of the company they just gutted, or asset strippers who bug a company and sell off its crown jewels, strip it bare then leave it to fail after creaming the profits.

Professional football only exists because of us, the fans. Without us, the likes of Lyle Taylor, rather than turning up for a few hours a day, to run around, kicking a ball around, doing something they enjoy doing, would have to be doing the 9 - 5, like the majority of us. We stick around, only because of our need to idolise our heroes, legends, who shape the history of our club. Our heroes now are all in the past, thanks to actions like this from Taylor. I thought Covid might have brought back a sense of reality, and an appreciation by professional footballers of just how fortunate they are. Kill the admiration of the fans, the 9 year old kicking the ball around in the garden with his dad, the guy who has been going home and away for 50 odd year's, people like Seb, and you are killing the goose that layed the golden egg. What is happening to football cannot continue for much longer, people like me are not going to bother flying half the way around the world every year to support their team, when the Lyle Taylor's of this world cannot be arsed to pull on the shirt just a few more times to help us out in a crisis

I haven't read all the posts so just giving my opinion, but for me I just find it sad that he won't play on till at least the end of his contract on the 30th. If we won all 3 games that could be enough to stay up, i find it baffling to refuse to play for these 10 days. Of course he will have his new team lined up, he should be honest and say this. Let's say it is Middlesbrough etc, they should honour his agreement come what may? Paul Gascoigne went to Lazio totally crocked but they didnt refuse to pay him.
This all just leaves a very sour taste, one i've not had since the Scott Parker debacle.

Lyle is in the wrong - I'm not really sure what else there is to say. The more players who pick and choose when to honour a contract the worse the game gets.

Football is slightly different as you have a "timed" contract & so you can't just walk out & join another club whenever you want. So you have to work the years/ weeks/days left & then leave. Nothing more, nothing less.

Won’t deny I am really disappointed With Taylor’s decision but like a number of others not really surprised.
He’s made up his mind and he has to live with that choice, I am sure he will and Should he change his mind And play for us even just for 3 games I will be shouting my support at the tv when he plays as I would with anyone lucky enough to wear the coveted Charlton shirt.

A presenter on TalkSPORT said well most football fans watch the games on TV and don’t go to games anyway.
People can disagree with me but football fans go to games, people that Watch on TV Follow football. I haven’t really missed it over the last two months Which has surprised me but if and when the championship starts seeing us play at the Valley And not being Able To be there is going to be painful for myself and many other Valiant fans.
We need to get behind the who ever plays for us over the last 9 games and hope they can salvage this season.
