I have seen some of Taylor’s other Insta stories since and he has received quite a bit of racist abuse from our ‘fans’. Absolutely disgusting really. He ‘outs’ them. Embarrassing.

Not siding with Taylor whatsoever, I am fuming with him but that’s really not on.
I wasn't aware of this. I don't have instagram. If this is the case then that is shocking. And totally unnecessary. I thought the judgement from Dickson were just about generall criticism and not specific comments
  • I thought the EFL had said it wouldn't be allowed @paulie8290
  • Let us imagine, as I think is probable, that Taylor has been given the message by his potential new club not to play for us. He needs to look in the mirror and ask himself if it is a good move to go to a club which is willing to drag his name through the mud where his professionalism and loyalty to his team mates is questioned and this will be remembered. It isn't as if he wont have options and he could ensure his next club is a decent one. Look at Cullen. He isn't even a Charlton player and has committed himself to us for the remainder of the season.
Or his agent, Mutts, or his agent..it may well be that his agent will claim he was "asked" to do it by the other club, but if so he will have been all to ready to agree to do that, because his own big payout is at risk if Taylor got injured.
  • I agree, it would have been done by his agent but it would be on the behest of another club.

"OK Lee, (Matthews, his agent) we'll pay you £xxx,000 for delivering Lyle, but only if he comes match fit"

"Leave it to me, Jonathan, (or whoever it is) he'll be delivered, oven ready"

    That sort of "behest" ?

That's about it. Just enough for everybody to know where they stand with no come back. All the shit falls on Taylor but he will get a nice contract. The thing is, when he signs for his new club, we will know who they are.

Indeed. I have some (virtual) money on Boro, because Woodgate is one of Lee Matthews' clients. Conflict of interest? Nah mate, it's a dog eat dog world, innit?
  • As far as Taylor is concerned he leaves us in credit. I understand why he has acted in the way he has. He is 30 and his career has been a lower league one. Its peak has so far been with us! He is running out of time to get a big pay day. And a club offering him that has instructed him subtly not to play (I am sure of that). If it was Boro it would make even more sense.

I do also believe Taylor will live to regret his decision. It may not be financially but his reputation will always be a little tarnished by this. His new club have hung him out to dry IMO. There will come a time when that will be important to him, even if it isn't now, as I am sure he is a very decent person.

I've just read what Dickson said and there was no mention of the unacceptable racist comments to Taylor. Personally I think he is wrong to call it by comparing Taylor to Solly as not the same situation

  • If Taylor is going to a Championship Club with the new regulations he may still play this season possibly even against us if its Brentford.

Fifa have announced 2 changes to transfer regulations.

1- a player can play for 3 teams instead of 2 in the same season.

2- if a league wishes to, they can open the transfer window before the end of the current season, now the Premier League have decided against that, but I haven't seen what the EFL have said regarding th Championship.

    What a joke!

I'm sure I read this before but struggling to find it now.

Was that before FIFA changed the rulling tho, now its officially been changed and down to individuals I just wonder if they will change there mind, as I said in the other thread, I hope and expect them to follow the Premier League and say any player signed now can't play until next season, but you just never know with the EFL lol
  • Found this (apologies it's the Express):
    https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1290519/Championship-news-EFL-new-rule-out-of-contract-players-Charlton-Lyle-Taylor
The new rules state that if players turn down new deals or are not offered them and become free agents, and then after June 30 sign for a new club, they cannot play for that new club until the 2020-21 season starts.

If that is the case then can Taylor still play? Was he offered anything?

It wouldn't appear to matter whether or not he was offered a new deal. He can't play until next season.

Listen, if he comes in and gets us the goals to keep us up. For me, all is forgiven.

Huge credit has to go to Bowyer here, I don't think any other manager would get Taylor to play.
  • His house is on the market though so must have the move done and dusted

Money talks and ball shit walks, Mr Matthews must have had a change of heart, must have been all the tweets someone sent him.

True or not it's ended up in the current bun for a reason, now what might that be.......
  • Doesnt overly surprise me actually

Bowyer is one of those Managers who really does have the ability to get players playing for him

It'll be remembered by us and  his 'current team mates' but I doubt the supporters of his new club will give a shit or his new team mates , it'll quickly be forgotten by the neutrals and press like all the other unprofessional or racist or cheating nonsense that other players do
