Yes the club was a mess, yes you were dicked about by the owners we have been trying to be rid of... Yes you got a move with a bit more money... Well done you.
But YOU let everyone decent associated with the club down... And YOU playing in some of the remaining games would have likely seen us survive relegation. You let your team, fans, management and staff down when you was needed most... Bearing in mind you had the captains armband at times.
Me personally... I want to call you all the names under the sun... But most of all I'm just dissapointed like most others. You let everyone down.
I suspect Taylor over thought the issue. It was never a case of don't play or get injured. Other players were more than happy to play, even loan players! Maybe that is his character/personality. Anyway, he is gone and best forgotten. He left us where he found us so has negated anything he achieved with us.
It's absolute rubbish for him to suggest playing the 9 games would not have produced one point, which would have kept us up.
Everyone understands why he did it. It's just that very few agree that breaking your contract and letting down your work mates and the fans in exchange for money was the right thing to do.
Dear Lyle, you are the worst example of cowardice and selfishness in football terms I have ever witnessed. To most right minded CAFC fans you are absolute scum and if you ever play at the Valley again you deserve every ounce of the abuse and vitriol you will undoubtedly receive.
If we weren’t such a shitshow of a club this wouldn’t have happened , we could have signed the twunt on a decent contract and he’d still be our player in the championship but no we’ve had c*** after c*** turn up and make us the joke club of south London , shameful
Agree. Both players may still be here if we hadn't been run like a comedy club.
If it wasn't for COVID-19, Taylor would've played till May, and with the extra 5 points, Taylor could've left the hero he should always be.
Some Charlton fans don't need the excuse of a player refusing to play to start the hateful venom. Holmes and Grant to name just 2. Grant abuse was a disgrace when the udders were in town. Holmes reception was bizarre when gobby and Oxford came to the Valley.
“But this is what I mean when I say no-one at the football club is blaming me – because if they were in the same position they’d do exactly the same thing. Exactly the same”
Who exactly is he talking about DD (has forgotten about him...Solly who has still gone AWOL & it doesn’t at this mo feel it was Exactly the same....spouting a load of ole shite...when the likes of Naby,Williams,Cullen,Lockyer stayed for the cause...
Well he is terrified of injuries and he is 30. He told everyone his side of the story today And the deluded Boy seems to think everyone at The club in terms of manager and players were on His side. This shows he is as thick as shit and on a stupid Ego trip that will go nowhere. Give him 8 games and someone will take him out And put him on the bench again after months of Treatment. We had him at his best, and I doubt he will last that Long at Forest, let alone play in the premiership Ever..........forget him he’s just another Cocky Boy.
Can everyone please remember the Taylor situation next March, or whenever the last 10 or so games are to be played (set a calendar alert now), so that we can remind ALL players, globally, who are out of contract at the end of the season and are 29+, that it's time to down tools and stop playing for your fans and employer.

When Derby came to the Valley after Powell joined, they were singing HIS NAME in the build up.
Personally, I felt we'd got someone special, someone who did their best and were appreciated by the fans of their former club.
Have never understood fans booing their former players. Life moves on for all of us at some point.
Have also never understood players not celebrating goals against their former clubs...although that may be a discussion for another thread!

Fuck off Taylor ur a C*** end of...
There were out of contract players playing for us or did we dream it?
Lyle Taylor knew his worth. He was a journeyman footballer until he was 28 and suddenly he had a choice: Sunderland or Charlton ? He choose CAFC because he would be closer to family and his roots, plus Lee Bowyer could improve him as a player. After 3 matches Lee told Lyle he had to work harder off the ball; Taylor's giant ego nearly exploded ! BUT, he responded and suddenly the nearly man became the main man at a club similar to his time at the smaller fan base club AFC Wimbledon.
Lyle Taylor Baby, who was loved and named by the club synonymous with Tennis, was determined to smash it at Cafc; Love was in the air. Lyle was an instant hit, and lauded by the fickle Charlton fans who will turn on players young or old if they don't perform like Roy of the Rovers, most matches.
It's well documented, what choice Taylor made ! He was poorly paid in Championship terms and had been stitched up by various owners of Charlton ? (Ten a penny, or the pound shop) and after the Brentford deal didn't happen because Duchatelet with the club's value in mind, felt it didn't suit, to lose the club's main scorer, assists man, striker, winger, and larger than life character rolled into one. Off the peg or bespoke, Taylor was a Journeyman no more. Lyle Taylor knew his worth.
I will let others hate him. Like a relationship which runs it's course, I won't let the good times be tarnished by the split. We were in utter chaos off the pitch and a 30 year old decided to have one great pay day; 3 years in fact.
He should've had that great pay day with CAFC, just like Karlan Grant, who Lyle mentored so well.
As a Charlton fan I'm gutted that he put his career before the dysfuntional CAFC. Forest is a great move for him. He will improve the fragile Forest and they will finish in the top 6 in 20/21.
Carry on hating. Was Sid James in that one?
Too many posters on CL just want likes, LOL and promotes !
Only time i see a newspaper is on a Saturday morning up at the old mans house. He takes The Sun, The Mail and The Express (a great combination i am sure you agree?)
Almost projectile vomitted today when i stumbled on Taylors piece in The Sun. Utter self apologist. Utter shite!

CL posters don’t just want likes and lols, we wanted Charlton to stay up! Lyle prevented that from happening! All this bull about him knowing his worth!!!! Shame he didn’t know that he was under contract!

To a degree, I can understand what your getting at, but his team mates were also party to what was going on behind the scenes. Cullen needn't have bothered as it wasn't his club. Lockyer could've took the foot off the pedal cos he knew release clause, Matthews one year contract ... I could go on about players with their thoughts & personal feelings. But at the end of the day, they walked over the line & had a go for us, because that's all WE want. I don't do this, "little petal" thing with players. I pay my money, if you don't perform & walk off the pitch without putting a shift in your a target!! Im not fickle, but I know what I want from a player, if I got a "v" sign from Aizlewood/Bullivant as we did, probably draw the line at the Peter Shaw song, I knew & they did, we,wasn't happy with their contribution. Aizlewood proved us wrong, as did Luke Young. Simon Francis is probably the only one I could hold my hands up. The only credit I would give him is his charity work or when he divulged about certain team mates who would dive out the fire exit rather than rub shoulders with the fans....
instantly forgettable player from a forgettable time in our history
Basically, his behaviour is exactly why, at the age of 30, he is where he is in his career. He has probably self destructed wherever he has gone because that is exactly what he has done with us. Good riddance to him.
