99.9% would have made the move. No issue with that at all.

It’s the breaking of contract mid-relegation battle which is where I think that number comes down enormously.....
Exactly, he could have simply played and still got the move.
Breaks his leg in the 3 games and no life changing move.
Let's be honest here, Forest weren't his life changing move. He expected Brentford to come back in for him.

He obviously alienated them with his behaviour.
I'm expecting he does not have to work again with this Forest contract.
  • Taylor would have his people in his ear saying if you get injured you could fuck your one big payday up .

This is where a proper club with some leadership pays £100k for a £4m insurance policy to cover Lyle Taylor in the unprecedented times we were in to play out the last 9 games .

I'm up for the job Thomas .

cancel that , imagine having to deal with our cry baby fan base ... Thomas will see that soon enough when things don't go as hoped .
Yeah, just wait until we don't sell out our next away allocation.
  • Is solly and lyle first players to refuse to play for Charlton?

I would not play for Southall, so I have some sympathy for them

Hasselbaink was another.  He was different, he decided this once on the pitch.
Even apologising for doing his job...

You could say that about anyone hoping to get a transfer or contract the next season.

If he invests it wisely he won't have to work but Taylor fancies himself as clever boy and that could easily get him into financial trouble.

Cant believe this still has to be explained months after it happened.
It's because people are too busy getting poo on their noses to understand why we were all so pissed at him.

The 3 games when still under contract are the reasons he will never show his face at Charlton again. Fraser won't at Bournemouth; he had been at the cherries for 10 years, FFS and that's how he repaid the club.
Hendricks did the same at Burnley and won't ever be welcome back there.

I understood the last six games, even though I was gutted. Unless we were in his position of getting a 300 to 400% rise over 3 years we might wrap ourselves up in cotton wool as well ? Cafc were his employer not his true love like many of us. (Shit employers as well during his time at Cafc)

We hope he continues to struggle and just spends time counting his money.

Let's move on, like Lyle has moved on.

The wasted opportunity of Grant and Taylor still rankled but I will have to take my own advice.
  • Breaks his leg in the 3 games and no life changing move.

You could apply this to every player all the time.

Dougherty should stop turning out for us as he might break a leg and ruin a life changing move to Celtic.

Bonne should stop turning out for us as he might break his leg and ruin a life changing move to QPR

Levitt should stop turning out for us as he might break his leg and ruin his future chances of playing for United's first team.

Baker should stop turning out for us as he might break his leg and ruin his development and end his career at 17

    Etc etc
Rubbish, it's not the same arguement.

    It literally is.

    I disagree strongly on that.
  • I suspect Taylor also reacted to being treated atrociously by the club in January. Of course this was by Southall who we all hate, but Taylor would have seen it as the club stitching him up. He will also have seen not being given the chance to up his salary negatively.

I think whilst the above is true, he clearly didn't think about his team mates and to a lesser extent the fans. Sadly for him, the former will follow him.

He didn't think about either because he probably does not care.  Why should he? It's only a job.

    You’re having a shocker here
Oh, he's taking it to it's limits.

Either way, people are only getting upset because he f***** us over.  If this happened at another club the very same people would understand the actions of the player.

I have always understood and accepted why Taylor done it.  Good luck to him.
It would never be okay for any player to refuse to play whilst under contract, whether at Charlton, Barcelona or Brentwood.

You say ‘why would he care, it’s just a job’, well that job is a team game and he would do well to remember that. The goals he scores to get him where he is, come from the hard work of those around him just as much as what he does.

Of course, Lyle Taylor probably doesn’t care, but that’s cos he’s a c***, not because he’s a professional footballer.
    This.

Many fans of other clubs agree, I today had a meeting with a Ranger's fan at the end of the call we chatted football for 10 minutes and he asked why Lyle didn't play. He said the Rangers fans didn't want a player that doesn't play for the team.

He said they'd have treated him far worse than we did if he did that to them. He also said the guy got the publicity he wanted.

Yes, upset he didn't get his move to Brentford and was lied to by the "owner"

If you want to believe Lyle Taylor is a cxxt then carry on.
I know the story of how he stepped in and protected a youth player at Wimbledon who was threaten by a senior pro who had just been nutmegged by a young player in training.
The Lad's mum said he was brilliant and supportive of the academy players, then in knowing I was a Charlton fan burst into a rendition of "Lyle Taylor baby"; most surreal as we were at an 8 tier match that her son was now playing for (last season)
  • He was always very loving to his mother!

Not far from Nottingham to Lincoln. Reckon he could do a job for them.
  • I do not believe for one moment his dream move was to Forest.  I suspect something else fell through.
I do however expect he got an exceptional signing on fee (circa £2m).
Bloke still has no integrity, he is an absolute phoney.

Parker reportedly refused to play, hence his 'dream' move to Chelsea oblivion.
