Scores the winning penalty as Brum beat West Brom 1-0
I flicked onto this game while waiting for the Spurs game to start, just as the penalty was awarded. The commentators were from West Brom and one of them said that they really fancied him to miss the penalty. I just laughed and thought "no chance".
Surprise surprise he doesn't stay long at another club. What is the longest time he has spent at a club? 2 years? I never want him back in a Charlton shirt.
He was loved and wanted at Charlton. It wasn't a big thing for him
Perhaps he’s learnt a lesson from that decision.
I don't think he will have unfortunately. Lyle is a narcissist. He's the only person who exists in his world and he can move the goalposts to align with his view any time he wants. He's also eloquent and intelligent, so his arguments make sense to him, make him feel clever and that makes them valid in his mind. When he left Charlton he justified it as being for his career, talked about his age and the importance of a last big contract, and then had a needless sly dig with his 'Big School' comments because he's not a nice person. In his mind he was justified, despite failing to fulfill his contract and letting down a team at real risk of relegation. He went to Forest fully in the mindset that he would succeed and be loved, he didn't and he wasn't and that was most certainly someone else's fault. Never his. A person with a normal brain would look back and see an error in their judgment, but fault doesn't cross the mind of a narcissist. He's gone somewhere better where they appreciate him in the way they should and everyone at Forest is bad. He didn't fail, getting 7 goals across 57 games, Forest failed him and now that he's loved again as he should be he can perform. He won't look back at Charlton, see that he could have continued on, helped keep Charlton up and left on good terms, he'll see a list of correct decisions punctuated by unreasonable reactions towards him for two years across two different clubs. The thought that if everyone you come across for two years is an arsehole then it might actually be you who's the problem will never cross his mind.

That'll be when Taylor swiftly turns into Vicky Pollard
