In football history has a side ever been is such disarray at the start of a season? You could perhaps expect a depleted squad during a mid-season injury crisis as the run of games take their toll, but for the first game of the season when players are supposed to be fresh and raring to go, i can't remember anything like it.

Back in September

Clarke is recovering from his own ACL that he picked up in November - Reeves shattered to pieces in pre season and is slowly being glued back together

Morgan is hurt. I meant Doughty but you're right he wasn't even given a squad number, I'd forgotten that. That's weird as I thought he looked alright in preseason and have been impressed whenever I've seen him at youth level.

That squad makes it even more confusing as to why we haven't made a move for Ince or Dawkins (or both) this week.

Surely Bowyer isn't stupid enough to have thought we don't need them so i can only assume RD was saying no.

I think someone said Morgan is injured on the preview thread. Probably true as his squad number suggests he’s rated by Bowyer.

Yeah it was Sage so blame him if it's wrong. But given that he posted he's kicking around Sunderland there's probably no punishment you can dole out to him that he hasn't done to himself.

Regardless of JFC’s misfortune that starting line up and bench is nothing short of a disgrace. Fit and proper my fragrant Scottish arse. The handling of the club over the last four years should be investigated by the Football League. If Pratley and Taylor are half fit we are risking even more injuries. Utter and total shambles.

Having said all that, Sunderland’s team doesn’t exactly look all that either. Famous last words.....

Yeah that away game at Bury with Roger Johnson starting, that was probably a worse first XI. But we had Lookman and Magennis on the bench if memory serves which immediately makes it stronger than this team. Oh, and we had a full bench, that's the other thing (not a dig at you Bob, a dig at the state of things)
