Of course it can happen, the americans do it for all there sport. Fans will just get a reduction on there season ticket price. It's not really a big deal.
They might get away with Barca v Alaves or Huesca but you can't say that moving El Clasico to a different continent/time zone is not really a big deal. If the Barca president signs that off, then i'm pretty sure he won't be getting re-elected.

I think you underestimate the level of outrage here from supporters - it would be a very big deal if it were to happen. Not being able to watch your team play against their biggest rivals is not going to be smoothed over with a season ticket discount, especially as season tickets were bought before any news of this came out.
I understand that, but over time we will get used to it. Look at 3 points for a win. Then you couldn't pass back to the keeper. Now VAR. It's no big deal really.
Desperately hope this doesn't happen. Bad news for Spanish supporters, and you can be absolutely certain the Premier League will follow suit sooner rather than later - they can't risk their glorious global brand being left behind.
"Real Madrid have reported Inter Milan to Fifa over an alleged illegal approach for midfielder Luka Modric"
The cheek of it. The amount of tapping up those fuckers have done over the years and they go crying at the first sign of it being done to them.
Definitely - typical of their arrogance. Think they might struggle this year and Lopetegui will be an obvious fall guy after the debacle of his departure from the national side.
Atletico hopefully can take advantage and push on for a proper title challenge this year. With Griezmann and Diego Costa up front and with Saul becoming an excellent midfield general they arguably have a better team than when they won the title in 2014.
Just signed up for a week long trial on this Eleven Sports thing - seems you can't even watch it on TV at the moment, only laptop, phone or tablet - how poor is that?!

works via apple tv but chromecast is still 'coming soon'
Impressive start for such a tiny club and they will be trying to emulate the example of Eibar who have done surprisingly well the last few years despite their tiny size along with Leganes as well.

Where did you sign up for this mate? I can't find a trial

Tough return to La Liga for Rayo Vallecano, currently losing four nil at home to Sevilla.
Real Madrid on tonight at ten fifteen here against Getafe. Love the late kickoffs here at the start of the season - been to games that kicked off at eleven at night and there have even been some that kicked off at midnight due to the summer heat. Can you imagine the carnage if Man Utd v Liverpool kicked off at eleven at night!
Very poor crowd at the Bernabeu last night by the look of it. I think La Liga should be concentrating their efforts on encouraging and helping their own clubs to fill their stadiums rather than exporting to a random stadium in the USA.
Looking forward to Valencia vs Atletico tonight - looks a great fixture on paper, although only 1 goal across the two fixtures last season.

Crowds in Madrid are generally poor in August as more than half the population leave the city to spend the month at the beach or their old family villages and most bars and shops close for the month. More tourists though, which usually make up quite a lot of the crowd at the Bernabeu.
Definitely looking forward to Valencia Atletico tonight as these are the two clubs most likely to break the Real/Barca monopoly and be interesting to see how they start the season. Hopefully some goals tonight!
Hoping to take in a Valencia game or two this season. They're an hour away but still the closest.
See if Levante are at home as well when you're there, the other team of Valencia city. Depending which way you're coming from Villarreal might not be too far either.
Thanks for the heads up. I'm near Javia, about an hour south of Valencia. Big opening game tonight
Reports from Spain that all 20 club captains are going to issue a joint statement tomorrow expressing their dissatisfaction at the idea of playing a game in the USA
Reports that the game selected to be played in the US is a Catalan derby, Girona v Barcelona.
Girona's fans now won't get to see their biggest game of the season, if it goes ahead.
Worst possible game for Girona supporters and it will be far from 'not really a big deal' for them as someone said on here (sounds like RD/KM attitude towards fans).
The players have been very vocal about their feelings about this so wonder if it will happen, for this year at least. Could be a tight league so if one of the top two have to factor in a week of travel and jet lag to play one game in the States it could be enough to contribute to deciding the title, or at least that's what the rhetoric will be if they come second.
Not a good week for the La Liga President with the ridiculous state of Real Valladolid's pitch against Barcelona. That wouldn't have looked good in games transmitted across the world and that's what he should focus on before flogging off TV rights.
To add to the farce of Valladolid's ground the other day, Rayo Vallecano's game at the weekend against Athletic Bilbao has just been postponed due to the state of their stadium.

How can anyone think this is a good idea?!
