Anyone get the feeling that the live task went on for bloody hours, to the point they didn't care who won as long as someone did, so it'd be over?3
-
Absolutely, it started with lots of rapid cuts and editing right from the beginning rather than doing a "some time later'' type edit. Plus the reactions from Greg and the contestants at the end did seem to be genuine relief it was over at last.aliwibble said:Anyone get the feeling that the live task went on for bloody hours, to the point they didn't care who won as long as someone did, so it'd be over?0 -
Not the first time that JD has been caught out scrabbling with his flies on screen.cfgs said:The egg thing is typically genius1 -
Yeah I only had presenting Joel Dommett to go off which kinda made me question how he was going to fit in , but he's completely weird.siblers said:0 -
Hmm. Didn’t think it was a great opener. Not sure about this cast either:I like Armando Ianucci’s work, but more his writing than his performing. Looked like he might turn out to be fun, but I’m not convinced.
Joanna Page. Well, Stacey. Not sure what else she’s done. Seems nice. Has a sweet and ditzy vibe and I think pretty much all her laughs will come from this ditziness.
Kumail Nanjani. He’s alright I suppose but doesn’t give me big laugh vibes. I think they were hoping for another Jason Mantzoukas type character, but I can’t see it happening.
The only reason I’ve heard of Amy Gledhill is because she was on Last One Laughing recently. Ok I suppose, not hilarious.
I’d never heard of Joel Dommett until he presented the UK version of Survivor a couple of years ago. (Our US or Oz based members will be familiar with this show.) He was ok on that I suppose, but that’s the extent of my knowledge of him. Seemed up for it and game for making a fool of himself, so could be the diamond in the rough.0 -
She was in the "porn star stand-ins" segment of Love Actually.lordromford said:Hmm. Didn’t think it was a great opener. Not sure about this cast either:I like Armando Ianucci’s work, but more his writing than his performing. Looked like he might turn out to be fun, but I’m not convinced.

I’ve never seen it! 🤷🏻♂️1 -
Was also in From Hell with Johnny Depp and Robbie Coltrane. That’s where her weird mask came from.lordromford said:

Poor enough tasks again tonight. The bowling and mirror ones in particular were pretty bad, I like the contestants though, they're a likeable group0

Yeah weaker episode last night after a really really strong start. The bowling task was just overly complicated.1

I feel like Alex was gambling on someone finding the "spare" ball to make the others look funnier but it didn't work and just looked a bit overdone.MarcusH26 said:Yeah weaker episode last night after a really really strong start. The bowling task was just overly complicated.1 -
I quite liked the bowling task, although I was surprised Amy didn't opt to keep the goggles on the top of her head and say that counted as wearing them. Less keen on the "until the balloon pops" task, although it was amusing that not only did Armando end up having an actual row with his wife when he phoned her to get her to shout at him, but it meant he forgot to do the thing that stopped the balloon inflating.0
-
They always do this. Week one is not knock-out, but they make it good enough to keep you interested. Weeks two and three often are loaded with poorer tasks and then they start to ramp it up and feed in more of the stronger/funnier tasks as the series goes on.3

Cracking episode tonight. One of the best in recent years.
I was nearly in tears with the way Greg delivered 'It started with a wink' line at the end.
Now back to the despair of our relegation survival

I was definitely right because it's exactly what happened with the stacking task!thenewbie said:

Much stronger episode.
Blue green yellow green yellow was weirdly catchy.

I'm surprised no-one laid the bricks out on the table in the order they needed to be, and only stacked them once they were happy with the order, so they didn't have problems when they suddenly had to pick up a specific colour brick.1
-
I thought of that but only whilst watching about the third or fourth person. So safe to say I wouldn't have thought of it in time!!aliwibble said:I'm surprised no-one laid the bricks out on the table in the order they needed to be, and only stacked them once they were happy with the order, so they didn't have problems when they suddenly had to pick up a specific colour brick.
I think the task says stack, your instincts are to stack, even if it does end up being a bit counterproductive!!0 -
Was listening to Joanna on the Taskmaster podcast, I've never come across someone speaking so fast, Ed Gamble could hardly get a word in. She comes across really genuine though0

Picking up nicely now, definitely a slower start than some seasons but the tasks are getting much better and the cast is definitely coming into their own, the live reactions to Joanna's rambling is always hilarious.0
-
Apparently at the live recordings they're even longer!thenewbie said:Picking up nicely now, definitely a slower start than some seasons but the tasks are getting much better and the cast is definitely coming into their own, the live reactions to Joanna's rambling is always hilarious.0 -
