    Why does this not sound true? It's not as if many 17 year olds play for their country, never mind play in a major tournament.

    Would have expected someone like Cristiano Ronaldo or even Wayne Rooney to have played at 17

    I suppose its not just the age of the superstar but the fact that the Euros come round every four years so for the likes of Rooney it probably would have been difficult to appear at a Euros when they were 17, if there wasnt one that year.

    Exactly Rooney was 18 when he ripped it up.
