    Would have expected someone like Cristiano Ronaldo or even Wayne Rooney to have played at 17

    I suppose its not just the age of the superstar but the fact that the Euros come round every four years so for the likes of Rooney it probably would have been difficult to appear at a Euros when they were 17, if there wasnt one that year.
