"Looks like neither side want their arses handed to them on a plate by Charlton in the final."
Did find it strange when the commentators mentioned our game tomorrow saying that we'll see if Charlton are as good as where we finished (or something like that)

The Media have really ignored us (Quest have disregarded us but been wary) and feels like they see us as having finished third purely because others have been inconsistent rather than our own consistency

There's a fair few empty seats at Sunderland. Surprising.
Judging by the empty seats I believe they have given up on promotion this season.
Let's fill the valley next Friday and show that we havnt
Judging by the empty valley seats we'll no doubt have, as we won't fill the Valley, maybe we have too?
WTF......is that supposed to be a serious post, haven’t you been following our ticket sales figures?
    Over 20,000 so far!
    Get real FFS Dazler.
You get real. I cannot see us selling out or opening up the closed areas of the stadium... It's be a Duchatelet decision to open up those areas and I cannot see him doing the fans a favour.
We've already opened up the closed blocks in the East Stand...
Yeah ...... get real, Dazzler!  :-)

  • Both teams look knackered . Good
Both seem to have struggled since the Checkatrade final. At least Pompey have a trophy to remember this season!
  • Tell you what these are both crap. So were we around mid way through the season when we were riddled with injuries and suspensions, but now we hammer both of these if we get past who could be the dark horse Doncaster.

Only 3 players I would have on show at Charlton are Lowe, Clarke and Honeyman. The rest are truly bang average or worse
    Agree.

Lowe seems a very CAFC type P.E teacher to pro footballer.

Surprised how bang average Curtis has been.
  • Is that an owner in the ground? What's that about?

    Weird.

To be fair Quest have noted how well we are playing, but we have genuinely not been newsworthy these last 3 games unlike the rest of the top 6 who have had something to play for

Probably because we've been away from the promised land so long and are not on the same journey Portsmouth are back up the ladder.

We're We're becoming the forgotten side.

10 goals and 3 clean sheets in 3 games and leapfrogging the two teams above you certainly is not newsworthy these days.

Finishing the season as the in form side...

We're being ignored because we're being forgotten.

Very true but even when we were in distant contention for second; Quest would cover the top four and talk about their chances to see which of the top four would go up automatically

They'd then cover Charlton but afterwards always mention us and remind each other that they shouldnt be discounted for second spot either

Sunderland AFC do not belong in league 1.

Actually everyone in the league deserves to be there for one reason or another

Yes, last weekend Colin Murray was very complimentary about us and when he asked the studio guest who is tip was to go up he tipped us. Cant remember who it was tho.

    Makes me nervous being favourites

Yep never mind us not 'belonging' here.

Duchatelet deserves it but not the rest.

Was Darrell Clarke I think, the ex-Bristol Rovers (now Walsall) Manager

I will hopefully bask in the glory of egg on the faces of all the pundits that chose to ignore us if we go up.
  • Finally a bit of bloody action!!
  • Both have just shown defensive lapses watch them both park the bus now! 😂
  • Just checked BBC stats after 1 hour of play

    Sunderland 1 shot on target
    Portsmouth 0 shots on target

Agree with that. We've got the team who finished miles behind in 6th, other fans seem to favour us, the bookies favour us, the Valley is about to be sold out for the first time in years, what could possibly go wrong.......
  • 1-0 Sunderland
  • Sun 1 Pompey 0

A good strike, totally out of keeping with the standard of rest of the game.
  • Good goal

I'm not writing off Donny yet!
  • God knows why Chris Maguire didnt start
  • First blood to sunderland
  • I think I'd prefer to play Portsmouth based on today. But let's see what happens from here.
