Last season we were League One, now we are Championship. We need better players, there is always a clear out of the weaker players by ambitious clubs and that is all that is happening here. Chin up
(although i am distressed about Hackett Fairchild going tbh)
The positive is we are now doing this from the championship. We got up, offered deals but still couldn’t compete against the wages others offered. Think how much worse it would of been in league 1. In Bowyer, Jacko and Gallen I believe they can still create a team that we can be proud of
I reckon we will probably be a bit of a dogfight but we will stay up. About 18th, 19th. First season. The medium to long term will be to be a fully established in the Champ. Then we can aim higher.

Players are still on holiday and most clubs have barely added to their squad yet.
Sure, it would have been good to keep Aribo and Bauer .... but in all honesty, we could never be certain they would stay. That's what happens when you let your best players run down their contracts. The other players released have been let go for all the reasons that Lee Bowyer has already told us.
Lyle Taylor is under contract, he can't just up sticks and go. Whether old Duchatelet thinks he can flog him and trouser a few extra bob, who knows - but right now, he's under contract.
Bowyer & Gallen have made it clear they were going to rebuild much of the side, by releasing so many players and the loanees returning to their parent clubs. But they've been planning for that for some time.
Gallen will have his list of first and second choices. He seems to have a pretty good eye for the right kind of players with the right kind of character. That bodes well. We know the budget is limited and some prospective signings will be chasing the dollar, and will rather sign for a League One club on better wages than we can offer. So be it. We didn't want to sign that kind of player anyway.
I've faith that decent players with sufficient ability and a good fit for the team will be signed. The extra quality will be picked up with loanees from Prem clubs, impressed with the way our coaching team improve and progress them. It worked with Beilik and Cullen last season.
The loanees will arrive late on, but that's the way it is. Rome wasn't built in a day - and nor will our 1st team. But in Bowyer, Jacko, Marshall & Gallen we've got a mustard management team. Worry thee not.
That's the only thing that matters. All these discussions are just filling time while we wait to discover our fate. If we get new owners we've got a great chance. If we don't then we'll need a(nother) miracle.
Thanks for all the upbeat comments and positives from the usual suspects.
Just remember who (still) owns us.
I say again: get a life.
I have a terminally ill Granddaughter who is 7 years old. Would keeping Aribo and Bauer add ONE SINGLE DAY to her life? I don't think so!
Wembley was one if the few really great days I've had in the last 2 years of my life. In the last 12 months, I've had 3 major surgeries because of cancer. At the final whistle, I cried like a little girl. Since that glorious day, I've had my latest 3 month check-up. I've been told I need another surgery. Do you think keeping those TWO players, (and it is only TWO, the rest were released) would have magically cured my cancer?
It's football. Nobody will die because of it. Unless they have nothing better to do with their lives.

Weegie, I remember feeling like this the summer that Powell was apponited before we got 11 new players! Keep the faith, in Bowyer, JJ and Gallen we trust! RD is sh*t but we will prevail: we are Chartlton.
See, for me, Wembley was just an excuse to grab hold of a little bit of what our Club used to be. Did I think we’d win? Not a chance. But I wouldn’t change a thing about that day. It was amazing.
But let’s be honest here. I fully expected a massive realty check from Douchbag. The fact that Bowyer has been gracious enough to stay is a bonus. If he still owns us by the beginning of the season it’s going to be a fecking hard ask. It is what it is. No surprise.

In which case, MORE FOOL THEM!!!!
Oh come on , of course football doesn’t matter one iota in the grand scheme of things and I’m genuinely sorry to hear of your horrendous situations and I know Weegie would to but Weegie is on a football forum commenting on her view of our current situation .
Anybody who thought a win Wembley would solve our problems was very naive. It was also clear after we won anything but relegation this season would be a huge achievement. However I have enormous faith in Bowyer Gallen and co so do have optimism. Let's be realistic but COYA

Not under the current owner.
Maybe not kicking on if the old fart is still there. But in relation to next season. I reckon with the Valley and Bow and co.. I feel we will comout ok in the end even though I feel a relegation battle is likely.
Five and a half years of interference, resulting in frustration and upset. And you advise support and enjoyment. I walked out in 2016 and I won't be back until Mr Meddler has cleared off.
We're in a much better position now than we were this time last season and that worked out ok.
As others have said, it's better to be in the championship than in league one. Looking forward to games against Millwall, Leeds, Fulham, Forest, West brom, Derby etc instead of Lincoln, Tranmere, Accrington and Fleetwood.
Bowyer and Gallen know what they're doing and although it'd be great to have all our signings wrapped up early i won't panic too much. Especially as we'll sign at least 4 players on loan from premier league clubs who will probably all arrive late in pre season once their clubs have assessed them in pre season.

The window closes in early August, so even if we don't bring in 4-5, there's STILL PLENTY OF TIME!

This is a weird thread.
Some people need to get a life...

Duchatelet will only leave if.
A) Someone pays him 10 times as more than the current value.
B ) He dies.
