What about when Derby came up and got 11 points and only one win all season? If the standard was so much higher now, they get 0 points and lose 0-5 every week? This Sheff Utd side is light years ahead of that Derby side? really? I doubt it, I reckon the Derby team would sit comfortably mid table by todays standard
So just to be clear:
. 12 years ago, Derby got the lowest points total in PL history
. This proves that the league used to be stronger
Of course. The other teams were so good Derby could only get 12 points.
Definitely not that Derby were so poor.
Likewise last year the league was so poor that Liverpool got highest ever runner up points and Not because they were any good.
Of course he should apologise, he's their captain!
Regardless of what the fans did, he shouldn't react like that. You're drawing 2-2 and you saunter off the pitch, gesturing to the fans and throw your captains armband on the floor.

Disagree... Dont care who someone is, you dont harass the players families!! - Especially when Pregnant - Taking that stance and your letting the fans get away with whatever they want without any justifyable reason... oh boohoo a player isnt performing to the standards you expect, fucking well grow up!! (thats not aimed at you Chris)
Yes he maybe should have expressed his frustration in a post match interview but of course, when people give you enough abuse there is always going to come a time when your going to snap
If Chris Solly or Jason Pearce were to do the exact same thing, my reaction wouldnt be to boo or call for him to be transfered yet would want to know why he's done it in the first place; If it were the same reason as Xhaka then I'd be standing by him, if it were for petty reasons then it would be fully deserved!!
P.S. Apologies all for this turning into a bit of a rant, feel there are some right entitled Football fans out there who think they can do whatever they want, simply because they've paid their money - Am sorry but the beauty of Football means that your gambling your money, your risking it all because there is no inclination of whether your team will win / lose / draw, there is no inclination that all players will have a good performance... Yes we have to pay far too much these days for tickets etc. but no one is forcing us to do so!!

it's poor management by Emery, he let the players pick the captain, the fans never took to him even before then, now he's saying he needs counselling, really poor from the Arsenal boss

OK, i'm gonna concede the argument here. and also admit since Liverpool last season were 18 points better than Man U's 1999 side Jurgen Klopp is a better manager than Alex Ferguson
Fans shouldn’t be able to get away with what they want but he should have a bit of class. He might have been a bit embarrassed or hurt by it but it’s no different to what lots of players get up and down the country.
Simin Francis got it here, always kept his head down and is now a premier league right back. Laurie Wilson went on to be our player of the year. Jason Euell got sickening abuse albeit by one fan and went on to become arguably our most identifiable premier league player.
is it nice for Xhaka? No. Would I do it to one of ours? No. You put on a shirt at a professional football club you should act professionally. He didn’t.

Xhaka has released a statement saying that he apologises the true Arsenal fans but admitted that like anyone else he had reached boiling point after abuse he'd received online which included threatening to kill his wife and hoping that his daughter got cancer
Wonder if people still feel that he should have behaved better simply because he was "Captain"

Didn't know this when i posted, i was commenting that he shouldn't have reacted like that just because the fans were booing.

Sorry Chris, again wasnt aimed at yourself... Rather everywhere you looked on social media, the Captain excuse was being thrown
Not defending the abuse on social media, thats just bang out of order. What kind of person would wish a child died of cancer ffs?! Madness.
Xhaka says he reached boiling point, but the fans clearly had too. I mean, the geezer is an absolute liabilty! Was it the spurs game earlier this season where he launched himself at someone for no real reason and gave a needless pen away? He always looks like he's about to do something stupid. How has deemed captain material i dont know!
West Hams problem is Roberto is not a good keeper and without Fabianski they cant keep a clean sheet, Haller also isnt getting the goals at the other end they hoped
This is their year surely. Almost every single week they look like dropping points and then they always nick a goal from somewhere. The sign of champions.
Leicester late penalty, Spurs late penalty, today 2 late goals.
Their passing, teamwork and their finishing is way ahead of the likes of Arsenal and Man U right now. 6 point gap now between the current top 4 to Arsenal in 5th now. And it's Leicester v Arsenal next week.

Vila beating Liverpool
Southampton beating City
even Arsenal are winning
Leicester late penalty, Spurs late penalty, today 2 late goals.
Chris Wilder is a genius.
Soton lost to City
Arsenal didn't win :-(
First goal from Chelsea is well worth a watch either on there or MOTD
Beautiful pass from Jorginho for the assist!!
